That was after a nice December, which steadied the boat after that crappy November:

So our journey has really begun - Elgin has receded in the rearview mirror, and we're seeing Craigellachie on the horizon as we move southwards... They don't play football there, so we're going to need a few more from Josh. Got a new contract sorted for him with a 4x payrise and no min fee release clause, thank god. Hamstrung by our budget otherwise - I'm sure better players could romp the league, but I'm bopping along with my conservative 4-2-2-2, a graceful exit in the playoffs giving Josh another year at this level will suit me fine......

Right, Season One is in the books. I am knackered, so no wordy explanations! 

We stumbled towards the finish line, but with one game left...

We just about got the win we needed to get the playoffs:

But we couldn't quite get it done:

Oh well, still a nice first season:

Although one trouble is, the Cairngorms!

That's that green patch in the middle, a national park where no football clubs exist. I'll need to avoid drifting too far east too, so that i don't make things longer, but that means.......

Still a long way to go, potentially six seasons! 

I won't be doing a season a day(!), but hopefully back tomorrow with news as i finally reshape the squad a bit...

Into season two, and we've been blessed with a gold youth 😮

But he insisted upon a min fee clause and wouldn't let it be higher than £50k, sigh...

And we've got our first ever Betfred point, although two of our experienced leaders then fluffed the chance of a bonus point!

Otherwise trying to find frees and loans for the season ahead!

I wasn't able to change the squad toooo much, but i could at least ensure my four loans were good, and didn't have recall clauses after last year's tough lesson! 

Who knows if East Fife were playing their u19 team or what, but this was an encouraging win at a club in the league above! 

Otherwise we've played a few league games, started alright, think Josh has scored 8 so far...

As a Scot I'm bemused at the SPFL Trust Trophy..WTF is that? Is it the Challenge Cup from last season?

Anyway my gold CB forced his way into the team, for a while, but I'm resting him now so he can think about what he's done. 

Joshy was doing well, but he picked up a knock after scoring a brace to knock out non-leaguers Linlithgow Rose in the cup. I couldn't quite get that into the screenshot, but his absence sent me into a bit of a tailspin...

But we're still in a good position overall:

Jan 1st 2022 - i lost my top of the table clash to Edinburgh, but now to focus on the market. I've managed to wiggle room for one more player, or i can get away with two but only by going over budget, so i might have to put up with the board moaning. The first XI is pretty decent but of course we lack depth - i was running it "like normal", with 22 players (decent backup in every position), plus a few youth as cover, but it's just unmanageable to have that big a squad. So I listed all the reserves apart from a couple i liked, and if i need extra cover, I'll just promote a grey reserve - cheap solution

I haven't looked in detail but my lads are on around £200pw, whereas everyone i want to sign is more like £500pw 🙄

Gotta choose carefully now though... probably a winger or a centre back. Need to focus. 

But gotta (really) look after the kids first. I have the day off work, lots of vacation that i need to burn, but of course, being home means that my wife sees an opportunity...!!

So i managed to fill both positions of need, with the CB immediately becoming one of my star players...

...and i had enough left for a decent pub lunch on the way home...

2022 started well...

...but Edinburgh are my kryptonite, and they beat me again in the last game of the 3rd time round, leaving us here with a quarter of the season remaining:

I'd probably prefer to go up, for reputation etc - i think Josh will be alright in the next level. But Nessie has got another two-month injury so we'll have to get through that...

So we stumbled to the line, both drawing our 35th game to leave me with the upper hand:

A fantastic finale, and we just about got there

Josh gets the silver medal, although bizarrely my loan striker who played less than half the games came third...

A good season (though could've been a bit better) gets us to 45 miles in total... So i can get from Elgin to Cock Bridge, if that helps to visualise the progress...

However, the new season begins and it appears the well is dry...

Gonna need to make some good signings so that Josh can thrive. Stay tuned!

Meant to include my squad summary yesterday:

Slow day today, not much chance to play, did a fair bit of scouting to strengthen the squad though. 

Only played a couple of matches, but got my first ever Betfred win!

Gallagher is one of the new signings so that was a nice way to start. And Dunfermline was where i finished with my last British "Goal a Mile", and i won the Champs League with them too.

Hopefully a bit more time available at the weekend
