Season 6: Real Oviedo - Part 3

The board was still short of money so I've continued my journey through free agents, only signed 3 players plus one south american wonderkid for 1.6M. Nothing fancy! I will not make this post long... the league start was ok-ish and the derby was scheduled to be the 10th match of the season. After 9 matches we were neck-n-neck, Oviedo on 9th with 15 points and Gijon on 10th place with 14 points.

And we did, sort of, the match showed exactly what the table standings showed, two equally teams, my luck was the set pieces routine that got me a late goal, enough to check this derby out of the list! 

Happy that I have defeated Gijon, I have waited over one season and half for this second game and without Schmidt goal I would have waited another 4 months.

Next day I've took the newspaper to see what jobs we're available. Atletico Madrid had a bad run so Espirito Santo's place was very insecure, I've called them but they gave Santo more time. Next week two new jobs came in, I did apply and headed to the game against Sevilla... we won the game!

With Oviedo on 3rd place in LaLiga I checked the jobs again, Brescia was still available, the second one was... was for me! 

 

ACCEPT!

 

On Atletico Baleares I had a great start as I signed a lot of future stars for free.

On Deportivo la Coruna the team was bad-ish but the board wanted great things and gave me a big budget to work with.

On Schalke I had a old and grumpy team but they had some quality.

On Oviedo was bad at the beginning but I had the time to work it out so in the end I had some good players.

On Lazio on the next level, old, bad, grumpy and without much quality. The good thing is that the "Derby de la Capitale" is in late January, plenty of time to sort things out and I have around 50M to buy some players... hopefully I can turn this ship around. On the first 3 teams I have used the same tactic, on Oviedo I've change it a bit, here I will have to change it a lot, basically a new tactic. No pressure, I have taken over the team right in the game day against Juventus, what can go wrong?

I think I was afraid of nothing, the team was ok-ish... the midfield was good, the attack good-ish and the defense... bad, real bad. Luckily the whole squad was very good on stamina and strength so I got only few injuries.... except, now old and grumpy, Ciro Immobile. He was my 4th choice as striker so I wasn't upset at all when he got a big 7 months injury 😁

In January we did few transfers, my first ever signing in this career, Nico Serrano (AML), Max Mittelstadt (DL) and Migue Jimenez (BPD) and Thiago SAntos Oliveira (AMR)/AML) as a future stars. Plus a lot of youn prospects on small sums of money.

And as expected, not much time went by after the Derby de la Capitale and I found my first team. Where did I left Lazio?

7th place so european football place, as the board wanted. Also Qualified on knockout phase of EURO Cup II (As we are in 2026, I have renamed this competition as Europa Conference League).

My best striker was Piatek and I feel bad that I didn't trust him at the beginning, he was the backup for the first 8-10 matches.

Now, just one month after the derby, I pack my bags and went on to England, Livepool... not the team, the city!

 

I see that every team that I get it's getting bigger and bigger and the squad itself is getting worse. I don't know who was the manager before me but hell, I have only one striker and is not even fit, still 3 weeks out of injury. Also I got more DMC that MC, and a looong list of defenders. I will have to think a tactic to fit this squad. 

 

League standings, not too bad, but only 4 points clear of relegation zone.

And to make matter worse, the idiot called manager, sold the best striker (Dominic Calvert-Lewin) for 46M when he was valued at over 108. And the 3rd striker was given away to... to me, Oviedo 🤣😝

 

The good part is that the derby is this season, the second to last match so I have some time to figure out how to deal with the situation. And because the board didn't set any objective and the European football spots are too far off, I will push for a FA win... fingers crossed. 

I know that on this forum there are a lot of Livepool fans so I doubt they will cheer for me 😝

Season 6: Everton - Part 1

Thanks @broodje kip. The win against Liverpool came in at the first attempt, happy @RichD!? This win is for you :)) I'm especially happy about the result as the goal was and ex-Arsenal's player contribution.

@Kanegan this is the tactic and starting XI I've used in the match.

With Everton my mind had to search for a good tactic to fit the lack of strikers and, once again, the inside forwards came in handy. Iwobi and Brooks were the ones to start at most of the matches and Okafor (my favorite season 2 free signing in FMM20) came every match as a substitute.

In the end I had two other reasons to smile, Arsenal is back on top and we won the FA Cup.

There is no player showcase as no player stand out, but for the first time, is something about me, I got an award in a top flight. In fact this is the first time when I finish a season in a top flight. Hopefully I won't stay here too long, there are still 10 derbies to win.

 

Oh, not to forget, I did apply on Hamburg SV, they are in the Bundesliga and their rivals, St.Pauli were on 3rd place (play-off spot) one game before the end so I was thinking maybe wait them in the Bundesliga. Sadly, St Pauli lost the last match and lost the play-off spot. Hamburg did offer me the job but luckily the offer came in after the St.Pauli's match so I did turn them down.

 

This season was superb, 3 derbies crossed from the list

Season 7: Everton  - Part 2

Well, that was fast. I have gone trough the transfer period and got me two strikers (Piccoli & Bianchi), one WBL/DL - Mittelstadt (the same guy who I've signed for Lazio), one WBR/DR - Ngakia, two future stars MC (Ruddick and Micciche) and two prospects for little money. Also I have reunited with another ex player, Nana Ampomah who served me in Segunda (only backup) and LaLiga (Starting XI).

The transfers weren't for nothing as I got my second big trophy, Community Shield, against THE CHAMPIONS: ARSENAL!!!

Oh man, I simply can't get enough of Arsenal being crowned champions again, at least in the game as in real life...😪

Right before the first game against Arsenal I have applied for two jobs, one was Barcelona...

 

The second one was...

 

Now, at this point I start to say how the bad the squad is or how low in the league the team is... I'm happy to say on Inter I have nothing to say, we still have 9 days until the first match of the season and 19 days out of this transfer window with 63M in the bank and I'm wondering on what should I spend the money. At the first glance I may need to improve the central defense but even if I will sign 0 players I can finish in the Champion League spots. I don't have any natural MR/AMR, ML/AML or AMC... maybe Pochettiono (the manager before me) used a kind of diamond tactic... the squad is devised and I have 9 players with exclamation mark, I can leave with that. I DON'T have the squad depth message. 

This team is A DREAM! I don't know how to lay some players of because I have 8 strikers and they have huge wages. If I will not manage to sell, no problem, we have the Europa League and I don't care about, I will use those there.

About the derby against AC Milan, we have 3 this season: the 18th game in the league (December), the Supercoppa Italia (January) and second to last game of the season (May). If I won't get the win in December I will be upset on myself. If I won't get it in January I'm an idiot, with this squad...!!

Season 7: Inter Milan

As I have predicted, this was was easy... and not so: first half 3-0, in the second half AC Milan killed me and went on to ambush. In the end the team managed to stay afloat giving me a lot of nerves.

And just less than one month we had the second derby, this time on neutral ground for Supercoppa Italia. Second derby, second win.

 

An maybe it would have been the 3rd (Copa Italia final in late April) or 4th in the league (May)

Before I say where I will go, just 2 weeks before my first derby the Union Berlin job was on the list, I didn't apply as I knew that the offer will come before my game so I have waited, and waited and waited until the job offer post was up for 1 week and 6 days (I know that a job stays up for about 2 weeks) and applied, it was 17th December. In the same day I got the offer and I had to deny it, so frustrating.

After the derby was done, I had to hit the "apply for job" again, hopefully I will get it... NO! They dismissed my application because I have rejected them in the first place: NOOOOO! I didn't knew how to feel about it, maybe if I have waited to finish the derby maybe... maybe, maybe!

 

With no jobs from targeted teams I had to move on with Inter, there comes the second derby in the Supercoppa, then the transfer window finishes, then move on and late February comes in when finally I spot a job!

 

No rush, let me show what I did with Inter. First, I spent the money on two players:

Tiago Machado Marques (BPD) from Oviedo, I signed him for Oviedo when he was 17 yo, and Angel Gomes (AMC) just in case I will use a diamond tactic.

The 3rd one I go it on free in December, Memphis Depay. I did try to sign Depay for Everton but the board declined it because he got a broken leg, out for 4 months. I nailed him on my shortlist and just few days before he was fully recovered I've made him an offer.

Competitions wise, I have used backups on Italian Cup and Europa League, enough to get second place, tied with Monaco and get me in the Italian Cup final.

In the league I was way ahead, 10 points, with one game less. I've told you, this team is a dream.

Player stats, Lukaku was  great, 24 goals in 23 matches, too bad he got a nasty injury.

The final tactic, don't look at the red cards and injury. Salcado and Depay takes turn depending on who is fit.

 

Ok, now, who offered me the manager seat? St.Pauli, Bundesliga 2! BTW, I did look at my manager profile and it looks like I'm World Class... I don't know how I went there... I did start as National reputation! I won't show you my profile, is ugly as hell, loyalty 1!!

 

Hertha Berlin, my rivals, are in the Bundesliga, 7th place at the moment, so I will have to fight for promotion in order to play the game. And as the standings and squad looks like, I think I will face them in 2028-2029 minimum, not this season, not the next season. I least I will have time to build up a good squad. After I have balance out the wages I still have 2.4M, the team is mediocre, mid table...

Season 7: St. Pauli - Part 1

As I have expected, the promotion was out of the question this year, with 11 matches to go and 9 points to shave off... and matches against some top teams, promotion contenders...

In the end we did finish 7th (so where I took the team) and improved the goal difference by a big margin, from +4 to +21.

7 wins, 1 draw and 3 loses. I'm satified.

Glad also that two of my players went on to get some awards, one as 2nd golascorer in the league and one in the team of the year!

The tactic at the end of the season, but it won't stay like that as I will get around 15-20 hot youngsters (hopefully no problems with the work permits), mainly from  Italy, Germany and South Americans. All the youngsters will cost me around 6-700k, bargain!

Plus some around 4-5 players will get in on bosman. The problem is that I have no affiliate clubs right now to send the incoming youngsters, hopefully will sort that out.

 

See you next season, where I will attack the promotion, it's a must as I need to get to Bundesliga to play the Hamburg Derby!

Season 8: St. Pauli - Part 2

Finally back on this career after one and half months of wondering around Augusta golf course.... It was so weird to come back to this after being used of having 60-70 players on my disposal and a world class squad. Back to Germany second league with players attributes more on the yellow side than blue, not to mention green (over 15), you can see that only on goalkeepers 🤣

The objective was to win promotion so next year I can battle with Hamburger SV, our arch rivals! The first half of the season was in a equilibrium and us and Koln would make turn on who would stay on the first place. The second part saw us go upfront as some of my young player are now better and can make a difference. 

I didn't made big changes to the tactic, simple and effective.

 

On the DFB Pokal we got over a Regionala Sud team, beat Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen to get beaten by BVB in the 3rd round.
