Career Ian goes for Badge 01 - Spurs’ Deadly Duo

You all know about the injuries so I won’t go there again and will just briefly go over the season as I’m keen to move onto the new season now as I’m going to make a slight change to the system I think.

These were our transfers and you can see I didn’t totally overhaul the squad and mainly focused on bringing in a few quality players that I felt would improve the squad. I was definitely going to try and improve our options in centre midfield as I felt we were weak there on my last attempt and Can and Brozovic were the chosen players. Digne will rotate with Reguilón at left back, Söyüncü is a nice centre back and Sabitzer is a great utility player who can play in more or less any position in the final third so a great option to have.

We won the league, made all finals only losing out to Chelsea in the FA Cup in a game that came during a truly awful fixture run. I would’ve probably preferred to have gone out in at least one of the cups early to be honest as again, the fixture pile up in May was awful.

I thought I’d include the fixtures to show how ridiculous it was at times. We were pretty solid apart from three games; one against City, one against Liverpool and one against Brighton. The Brighton one came as a major shock as we had a strong team out but just didn’t start the game and before we knew it, we were four goals down. Just look at the May schedule though 😂

This was the highlight game with both challengers scoring a hat trick in one of the early Europa League rounds.

 

The boys suffered a few injuries which hindered them so they did ok under the circumstances and hopefully they can build on this next season.

I think the system worked pretty well this season but I’m not sure it’s quite goal heavy enough and most of the really great stuff from the duo came in the Europa League against poor sides so I’m going to make a slight change going into next season.

Sorry for coming back to an old thread, but really interested in how well you did.
My assumption for managing Spurs was that they would need a new RB or RWB, did you get one in either of your attempts?  Any advice for someone about to start a new save with Spurs?

Hi @SK15Kev I have attempted this and while no doubt I didn't do as well as @Ian I opted to get a new right back in during the second season, which was Valentino Lazaro. I completed the challenge fairly comfortably but deffintley would recommend a new right back, good luck mate!

I can’t remember too much about this now other than I know I binned it off due to the duo both suffering injuries early on in the second season. I was trying to beat the score from my previous attempt so once that was kind of impossible I made the decision to just jack it in which isn’t really like me as I usually do finish things.

I can’t even remember the system I used in the attempt. I think the centre of midfield in particular was the area I really wanted to improve on from the starting squad anyway. I may well give this another go at some point as when I did this it was on a version of the game where there seemed to be lot of injuries. Things seem better now in that regard so could be worth another go.
