Career Smog’s Badges - 05 Bruno’s New Years Party!

Hi all, first challenge of FMM21 and thanks to @Robfor this and the concept of the badges. A great idea!

So here is my season 1 with Kane and Son at Spurs. 
 

First up our transfers, which were minimal to be fair. Our biggest outlay was Coman as I wanted more quality down the right, then a few loans in Jan to supplement the squad.

Liverpool were too strong in the league so we settled for 2nd, an early exit out of the Carabao Cup and an annoying defeat in ET to Arsenal in the FA Cup final were countered by us going all the way and winning the Euro Cup.

We set up in a 2-1-5-1-1 formation and by the end of the season had some good relationships developing in the squad, my one issue is that Son currently wants away for a new challenge and it’s disrupting harmony slightly.

On the pitch the deadly duo certainly lived up to their name. Here’s how they look and their stats after S1.

So at the end of S1 we have a total of 104 goals (Kane 70 and Son 34) and 54 assists (Kane 12 and Son 42). 
Thats 158 at the half way stage.

Yeah Rodon was good as well when he played. Was very surprised with Tanganga.

Season 2 now and again limited activity in the transfer market. With the addition of relationships I think the days of wholesale changes may be gone. So we went for one big addition in Savic and a few loans to bolster the squad. A few unhappy players left.

The league was a fantastic battle this year and it really came down to the last 3 games, Liverpool picking up just 1 point whereas we grabbed all 9. The cups weren’t so great, getting knocked out before the semis in each one.

Here’s how the duo looked at the end of S2 and their stats, including a special award for Kane and our best game of the season.

S2 we totalled 105 goals (Kane 74 and Son 31) and 57 assists (Kane 10 and Son 47). 
Thats 162 for S2 added to our 158 for S1 gives us a total of 320 for this challenge.

Next up our tactic which I like to call the triple treq, essentially giving them all the freedom to do what they want! Also the injuries, we lost Neymar for 3 months and Suarez for the end of the season. We also lost Pique who was forced into retirement from his injury.

On the pitch we crucially (for this challenge) won the league and domestic cups, however Chelsea knocked us out of the CL in the quarter finals.

So that’s 196 points in total, which given Neymars injury I’m very happy with. Might be tempted to have another crack but next up a touch of Redknapping! @Rob @Scratchcan you add me to the boards please lads, thank you.

Wonderful score Smog and that would be a wonderful score even if you didn’t have the injuries, you would be out in front without them injuries!

Very nice performance there Smoggy especially with the Neymar injury. I’ve never got round to trying three T’s so nice to see it working well here. Three T’s at AM is another thing on my list as I can see that being utterly devastating.

Great work Smoggy, added to the leader board. That's a fantastic score with Neymar being out so long. 

Thanks also for the screenshots of Pique's retirement. Never seen an insurace payout before. Also interesting that he had a testimonial when he's not supposed to be playing anymore. Maybe he reffed it! 😄

Thanks mate, it would’ve been close I think. Those extra games from Neymar could’ve been crucial.

Thanks Ian. Yes three T’s at AM would be interesting, particularly if trying strikerless as well.

Cheers mate, pretty sure it was the first time I’d had a payout too. Such an important player as well I thought it was worth screenshotting. If he didn’t ref it perhaps he was in his wheelchair on VAR duty!

Hi all, please see my attempt at ‘Redknapping’. Nice to delve into the lower leagues and I enjoyed some of the different cup comps, the schedule can be pretty punishing though!

First up, and most importantly, the transfers. I found getting players out quite frustrating but managed to just hit the minimum 15. Some very familiar names on the incoming front, and more followed after the 12th and in January.

We had to finish top 2 to qualify for this badge and won the league by 17 points so that was fairly comfortable. Conceded way too many goals though so that impacted on my score. We did quite well in the cups too, it too Southampton to beat us on pens in the Carabao Cup and Everton in extra time in the FA Cup. We also got to the final of the Papa John’s but sadly lost out to the Mackems.

Our top scorer was this fella who I’ve seen a few people use. No brainer when you can get him on loan at this level. Honourable mention as well to Rudy Gestede who only managed about 3 goals in 3 years for Boro but banged in 34 goals in a season for Pompey.
