I have to be honest how much disappointment Dest had given to me. He looks like someone who could pull off a 30s but he even struggled to reach 20!

So 22 + 17 = 39...

Before we end this lets us all say goodbye to our former legend Timo Werner as his contract ends at the end of the season and I can’t afford to renew it for some reason. 😕 

Another legend leaving is Juan Miranda. He’s asking for a new challenge and we have to respect his decision.

So another great season trophy wise, it was one of the most boring as I just want to score goals and couldn’t get it going in my new set up.

A wonderful performance from the duo said no one ever, to be fair I didn’t look in to it enough and see how my wing backs could get more assists, didn’t help that even though they were both trained on crossing they couldn’t get up to at least 15, took nearly all season for Dest to go from 13 to 14, I used to get his crossing up to 19/20 on last years.

As I'm the only one who loaded MLS I had more options for the second winger but somehow I end up with a lower level player than Robinson.

Player 1, this is logical.

 

Player 2. I got Araujo because is younger, at 23 maybe he will still develop, and because his stamina that will help him stay longer on the pitch so more chances to get an assist.

 

This season I will divide the competitions segment in two, first segment: Club World Cup where we got 3rd place, Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup and Carabo Cup

You may ask why, because if I will win FA Cup or the league I will have to play Community Shield next season and if I win Champions League I will have to play on UEFA Super Cup and next season we have a difficult task to score at least 3 goal every game, so less games means less games where I can fail.

In FA Cup & Champions League I wanted to go through the final or semi final and then bottle but the players lost in quicker so Dest & Araujo lost few games there. In the league we were tied with City with only one game to go and the last match was City vs Arsenal so we need to lose or draw to not win the league, it was 0-0.

 

Araujo also lost 2 more matches because I play in England and was soooo hard to get the work pemit, a had to appeal countless times. And also lost 3 games because of an injury.

Dest wasn't any luckier, he got two injuries making him lose some games. Also he got low stamina so he lost even more games to that.

Giving the fact that they lost a lot of games due to injuries, work permit and exit earlier in some competitions, I would say Birdie is possible, right @broodje kip. See my result

The tactic, a idiotic looking one but here me out: if you let any other player in between defenders and attackers, those players will tend to get the assists.. so I have removed all together and also I have directed the attacking on the flanks. When only one of the two were on the pitch, I would direct the attack on his flank.

 

Funny thing, I have also a central defender named Araujo and these two developed a red relationship on the pitch so I had to switch defenders around in mid October.

I found out a useful use case for the relationships tab, you can show exactly on which position one player had played his games. This challenge we were not allowed to play the wing-backs upper than DML/R, so check this out!

With Hole 5 completed we have some changes in the leaderboard. @broodje kip is still first place tied with me and @RichD drops one spot to 3rd place. The challenge is still pretty even but there are still 13 holes to go, 16 long seasons!

 

The next challenge is a shotr one

Team needs to score 3 or more goals every single game for half a season (up until Jan.15) in all competitions. Failing to do so:

Birdie - 0-1 times

Par - 2-3 times

Bogey - 4-5 times

Double Bogey - 6 or more times

It’s been a fun challenge despite I didn’t realise my tactic had changed themselves and it cost me a lot 🤣. I’ve learnt to always check my tactic before playing matches.

Bought only one player. He’s a 17 years old Argentinian winger we loaned last year. Not a great player but I like him for no reason.

We got 5 matches that’s not 3+ goals scored. So... another Bogey lol. @George Traistă I’m hoping you to get a Bogey too so that we’ll still tie for the 1st place 😂.

The Milan, Bresica and Tottenham match really cost me. I should’ve checked the tactic before I even start the first game.

Really annoying this bug that reverts you the tactical roles, I had the same problem on hole 4 and didn't notice it for around a month... Annoying!!!

Lots of goals mate, unlucky with the score, this is one one of them where luck comes in to it as our squads are all probably great by this time, so it all comes down to if players fancy taking there chances!

So this is right up my street, I love goals and have a few systems that get over 3 goals a game.

So barely no transfers this summer, we have a very good team, players are now though 31/32, so next season I think we will have to recruit. I am having massive trouble selling players on this save though. No one would take Dest even for like 10m 🙈

So nice amount of goals scored, not as good as my goal difference challenge, but I think an ageing Bruno Fernandes might be why, he’s so good on this years.

So a great start from the boys, but boy did we leave it late a couple of games, a couple of 90+ minute goals ensuring we hit a birdie on this hole, a well needed one after a couple of poor showings.

I'll start off with part of the tactics... no, I'm not joking!

 

Last season I did a dirty one to bottle the league, and some other competitions, on purpose so this year I would have less games, less chances of fail... and it worked, I never had that free of schedule, never!

And to make my life even easier I have decided to bottle one more competition this year, Carabo Cup aka EFL Cup. This one starts in September and if you go through it you will get 5 games until 15 January, so 5 chances to fail. The first game was with Notts County... they can pose some threat? NO.

Next game, late October against WBA, they are a Premier League team so, they can beat us? MAYBE... the plan: score 3 goals as quick as I can and then f#&k things up. 3-1 in 25th minute, I did few changes but no stunning results. 2-3 at half time. Plan B!

 

Plan B was to make such a foolish tactic that they will beat me no matter what, you get the tactic above, instructions:

Shape - attacking, wide, slow, discipled

Defence - high, all over, committed, yes, no

Attack - none on final third, long, right (and the players were on left), long

A straight up clown tactic, the result? 7 goals conceded and 2 goals scored 🤣🤣🤣

 

Ok, enough with the funny bit! The real tactic was an equally mad one that got me a lot of goals. As quick as I got 3 goals I would made the 3 subs so young players will get game time.

 

Results

August, everything good. a surprising 4-4 with Everton after we had 4-1 at the half time

 

September, only one draw, 3-3 against RB Leipzig

 

October, the first bad game, only 2-1 against city. Also see the beautiful game with WBA. Plus the first defeat!

 

November, all good, no surprise

 

December, the second bad game, same RB Leipzig. It looks I can't get over this team

 

January, the 3rd game, 2-2 in the FA Cup against a PL side. And because it was a draw, we had a reply.

 

Final result: PAR (3 games)

Some major changes after this tricky hole, easy at the first sight but in fact... none of the challenges are easy on Augusta Golf Course!

Tie at the top with me and @RichD. @broodje kipis not far behind, just one point. 2/3 or this sporting event went by and things are still pretty even.

 

Next hole: 7, number 7!

Buy an Argentine winger who must play on the wing at all times. Get as many goals and assists combined from him in all competitions as possible.

Birdie - 80+ goals + assists

Par - 55-79 goals and assists

Bogey - 40-54 goals and assists

Double Bogey - 39 goals and assists or less

This hole was pretty straight forward and in my view there were just 3 options to go with, all on AML/R position: winger, inverted winger and inside forward.

I did love the new tactical role of inverted winger but, love is love, and I have chosen inside forward and aim for more goals and less assists.

The chosen player, a very young player for this task I would say, 21 years old Ariel Pizzaro. Among his strengths: effective penalty taker and effective free-kick taker. Weakens: low on crossing and only 16 on stamina, yes ONLY as I need him a lot on the pitch.

The tactic, asymmetrical one, the passing focused on Pizzaro's side. On the counter he will mostly act like a winger trying to cross the ball to the big and fast target man (Maxi Gomez or Dominic Calvert-Lewin). On positional attack he will drift inwards acting like a third striker. Logical, Ariel was set to take all the free-kicks, penalties and corners to boost his numbers.

 

 

I must say I loved this tactic, it was nice to watch. An was also effective as we won everything!

About Ariel Pizzaro, he was soooo close... He played in 59 games out of 65... I would say 58 as one game only played 5 minutes until he got a red card...

One missed game for a red card, and 5 matches I had to rest him because he was tired even he only played 60-70 minutes per match. Maybe he wouldn't miss so many but sometimes you press the button to go to your team tactical screen and the game will delay that for 10-15 minutes, and that's enough to drop his stamina from 84 to 72 and miss the next match.

Before the numbers, he was the league best scorer plus some other awards

Ariel Pizzaro at the end, with crossing going up 3 points due mentoring and also on some other attributes with 1-2 points. I like it!

So a grand total of 76, PAR... just 4 points to get the birdie!! Agonizingly close. Maybe if he didn't miss 2 or 3 games he would get to 80. Also frustrating that sometimes, just minutes, after I would sub him we would get a penalty or a free-kick in good position, perfect for him.

So we needed to bring the average age of the squad down this season, so made a few very nice signings. Esteben Crettaz was the man we brought in for this challenged but I won’t give you how he looks yet as it will give away his average rating.

So the relationships are brilliant here, loved it, the only thing I really did different was that the play went down the right, with only one player playing down that side, our main man, could it work and produce a good score?
