Career Chris' FMM21 Challenge Kick-off - 1KC CANCELLED

After being introduced to the world of FMM challenges in the last FMM iteration, and failing to complete two, I'm back with fresh motivation and rearing to go with a new 1KC. Hopefully I can maintain said motivation, and rl can just take a back seat long enough to get me through this. 

It may be slightly premature to be attempting this (I haven't tested my tactic for more than a season) but my tactic hasn't changed all that much and I've seen decent returns already over the past month or so. Should only get better right? 

Anyway, my choice of club is Ajax. They have a very nice transfer budget this year, and their entire squad is just young and full of potential. Just perfect to help grow with our new boy, soon to be man... KAIO JORGE. Bought this lad in for a right steal, leaving us a few more quid to bolster up other areas. He definitely looks like he has the potential to become a solid striker within a couple of years.

The rest of the squad definitely needs to mature a little to start seeing the results I'm after and the squad is also lacking any natural wingers (probably work with them for now until our pockets are a little heavier), so I'm setting us a target of 35 goals in the first season. All bonus before 20 anyway, right?

Cheers guys. Thought I would just give a quick update as we are already faced with troubles. We got off to a great start, averaging a goal a game for 15 games or so. He then spent a long stint away on international duty (U21) and now returned with a 2 month long injury. 40 goals seems a way off now... Eagerly awaiting his return to hopefully finish the closing half of the season strong!

Season One Update

Transfers:

Not too busy in the transfer market this season. Just adding a little depth for now.

So to continue on from my last post, things didn't get too much better. Our lad was plagued with various injuries throughout the season and also missed an extra 10-ish games due to international duty. Up to that point he was on 16 goals in 15 games. He was fit again just in time to catch the last 8 games of the season, but unfortunately struggled to hit the net with much consistency, despite being provided with plenty of opportunities:

Atleast he saw some improvements stat wise. Definitely hoping for better things next season after a bummer of a start.

Guessing it could of been a Jan loan move or something like that. 

Decent first season, as @hhooo said, he is getting the chances so hopefully as he develops, will start to finish a few more.

As his stats improve he will hopefully start taking his chances, I’m using Jorge in my triple threat career and he’s doing well, hopefully his stats go up next season for you.

Got him on loan in January. I was hoping to make it permanent as he performed really well and kicked Daley Blind off the first team. Unfortunately Chelsea just wanted too much for him.

Season Two Update

Lucky to get the international job so soon! Although after taking a look at their team I may regret choosing a Brazilian for this particular challenge 😂

Transfers In:

Not too much happening here. Main buy was Dilrosun to help on the wings. I used him an Pavon to great effect last year, and was hopeful for more of the same!

We got rid of a lot of dead weight this season. I was really hoping to keep hold of Onana, but was unable to meet his wage demands (unsurprising when you see the results below!). Barcelona came calling at the end of the season with an offer that was too good to turn down.

We had one hell of a season in the Eridesvie. Slightly gutted about the draw as it was the 2nd to last game and Willem played the entire match on contain in a flat 5-4-1.

Some decent growth this season, thought I would have hoped for more aerial by now. Still, plenty more room to grow and he's developing nicely. 

So we hit our target of 35 goals this season, totalling 43 goals in 43 games (including internationals). Assists mainly coming from the wings, but far too inconsistent for my liking. 

Overall, I am happy with the progress made this season. However, I am already losing confidence in my tactic. Wingers feel weak this year, and I'm struggling to consistently get Jorge more than 5 shots per game which is cause for concern. The crosses also seem to be very inconsistent this year. Some games my Dilro and Pavon will get around 20 cross attempts each, while others only 5 or so. I'm debating a complete change up for next season and may get rid of the wingers all together. Anyway, onto the next season... I think this one will be the one to make or break this challenge.

Cheers guys. Sticking with the formation for now, but I have stopped playing the main man as a poacher. I'm coming to realise poacher kind of sucks this year... Atleast in my tactics so far. 

And Locatelli is already giving Gravenberch and Klaasen a run for their spots on the team. He's doing great!

So the current season has started off okay... I didn't really have the transfer funds available to completely switch up my tactic so stuck with wing play for now. Its quite frustrating though. My lad only has an aerial of 15, but with this many crosses and chances coming in against much weaker teams he should be scoring a hell of a lot more... Stats below are quite typical of most of my matches tbh, although this particular match everyone else was scoring for fun which isn't usually happening. Once Jorge's stats start to peak out I'm going to assess whether or not I'll continue this challenge. I really hope wing play isn't dead! Anyone else had much luck with it on the current update?

Solid start and a bonus to get that Brazil job so soon. 
Sometimes it’s worth testing your tactic with a top team and top players first, and if it works there you know that in time it should work for your Ajax save. The early seasons can be very frustrating but stick with it.

Season Three Update

Managed to snap up Oyarzabal for an absolute steal imo. Thought I was going to get even luckier when I had a bid of £22.5M accepted for an unhappy Coman. Unfortunately not happy enough to join us though... Unai Simon to replace Onana, and a few youngsters after that. Sander Berge and Ceballos have only just joined the club at the end of this season.

Not sure why but Pavon isn't showing on here. Had to get rid of him as unfortunately he didn't want to retrain his position. A young Pozo steps in to take his spot. 

Made some tidy profits on unused players. Need to try and spend it all before the new budget comes in as Ajax seem to be really tight with their transfer budgets...

Smashed everything again this season, bar the Champions League. Been put in tough groups each year, and knocked out again in the first round (losing 5-4 to Chelsea on aggregate). I think lack of success in the CL is really affecting which players are interested in joining the club so hope for a better performance next season. 

Also, somehow managed to win the World Cup even with a weak-ish Brazil side that didn't really have the right players to make my tactic work so well. Kaio Jorge still impressing on the international stage though, taking every award he could set his eyes in in the process. 

Jorge:

He's looking very solid now, especially after a decent increase to his aerial ability (jumped from 16-18 in the second half of the season, and he was definitely scoring a lot more).

@smoggy90I took your advice and decided to test another tactic on a separate save. I ended up using Wide Midfielders instead of Wingers in a 3-5-1-1 formation and it performed very well with Bayern... The only issue I have with the formation is the AM sometimes having a lot of shots, but I did try various other formations and still found this to be the one that got me the most goals. Anyway, here's how it went:

He was on fire this season and the big numbers are starting to come. 68 goals, plus another 14 Internationals gives him a total of 82 for the season. I'm extremely happy with his performance, especially after a tough 2 seasons. Eyes on the 100 club now 👀... If he can maintain his form from the end of this season to the beginning of the next I've no doubt it will come soon - 

The team really did well too, with a tonne of assists coming from our wide men. The AM still stealing too many goals, but he's also involved in a lot of the build up plays so it's a bit of a catch 22...

I'll keep future updates short and sweet from now on, now that this challenge is firing on all cylinders.

Fantastic season that mate, great amount of goals back for a 21 year old, he will only get stronger now, I’m using him in my triple threat challenge and he’s already better on yours than mine and I’m further in 😂

Thanks mate. It did take 2 days of testing a tactic with Bayern mind. I even bought the editor just to heal players and boost their morale so as to have as little skewing the results as possible. It's annoying because I'm finding alot of my normal tactical approaches just don't work, and I'm being forced to try formations that I would never even consider. But I'm enjoying this one so maybe it's a blessing in disguise! I was so frustrated after the first couple of seasons and this has really got me in the mood again 😅 

I'll take a look at your TT. Been reading through some of your threads recently actually, and already decided to get badge collecting once this challenge is done. I'd be happy with half of your score for most of the challenges 😂

Yeah I only did my first 1k last season, i found it difficult the first couple of seasons and then I found something that worked then, I think yours will only get stronger, so good numbers early you you got.

Its called Triple Threat Delight I think 😂Glad you’ve decided you want the badges, there a lot of fun, it helps with tactics as well as you gotta try different things. I think I just get lucky with some challenges 😂

Just wanted to post this here before someone else does, and brings my integrity into question. As I mentioned in my post above I purchased and used the editor using a Bayern save to test my tactics (I purchase every year just usually much later in the year). As you can see from some of the screen shots above its still enabled, and I've only just noticed in game. Obviously haven't used it to make changes to players etc. but I can understand it raising questions when it comes to using it for scouting players. Do you think this warrants me starting this challenge over as I've technically used an unlockable?

I hadn’t noticed at all to be honest, good of you to bring it up. Personally I think now if you’re doing really well it will put doubts in people’s minds, it could be anyone on this forum that have done this and people would have doubts, it’s unfortunate but I’d probably start again 👎🏻

No problem, thought that would be the general opinion and I'm happy to do so anyways. Gives me a chance to grab some more goals in S1 and S2 with the new tactic I guess

It's a shame but oh well. I'll start over same player and team. Cheers for the reply!
