Also Zamburek is a brentford loanee who I'm obv v.interested in given i live in Czech Rep

When I wrote the update I was sure one of the players had been a Brentford loanee but I couldn’t remember who. Hopefully I will find a place for him in the team at some point and see how he does.

Season 1 Round Up

It was a very successful first season in this save and because of that a lot of players passed through the club with a few going out because of poor results but most just ending up being released to make room for more players.

Players Out

In total I lost 16 players due to games lost or drawn. This included my topscorer which was William Donald Grigg with 25 goals. The most annoying loss was Xavier Amaechi who I was looking forward to use as he is a WK but he went after we lost 4-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup Quarter Finals.

In total I had to release 46 players from the reserves in order to make more room for players. This was a mixture of youth players and players I had stolen and had no need for.

In season 2 I won’t be keeping players that I will just put into the reserves straight away. Instead they will be released from the club that lost them so they go into the free transfer market as that’s were they will end up anyway if I’m never going to use them.

Players In.

In total I stole 93 players from other clubs with Gillingham and Shrewsbury took the worst hit as they lost 6 players to me over the three and two games respectively we played.

We had a great run in the FA Cup which yielded a few decent players in wins over Blackburn and Bournemouth but we didn’t manage to get any really outstanding players that way.

All these transfers in and out doesn’t seem to have had any impact on my manager attributes but that is probably because the game doesn’t recognise transfers done using the IGE.

Season 2 Preview

The move up to the Championship means so tougher games but it also presents the opportunity to get some really exciting players into the squad. I played an ambitious 424 all season in League 1 and I’m going to carry on with that attacking approach in the Championship because it’s fun and unless I get absolutely spanked week in week out I see no reason to change.

I have completely cleared out the reserve squad as my rule says that I can’t promote anyone anyway so there is no need for any of them. This means I start the season with a squad of 40 players all in the first team. Remember if I get to a point where I have to field a greyed out player this career is over.

Luckily I have a few players in the squad who look like they are ready to make the step up.

Just like in Season 1 we start away to Bristol City although that was in the cup that time. It looks a relatively easy start to the season with some games that we can get results in if we are going to do anything this season.

It all begins tomorrow and hopefully you will all follow along as we could be in for some real fun and games as we make the step up a league.

Great update that fox, some decent looking players for championship there. Be interesting to see how you get on😁

I’ve played August and trust me it was definitely interesting!

You need to diversify your club's income streams to make use of all that extra labor! I'm sure you could teach footballers to stamp license plates or stitch sneakers together.

Thanks to our scumbag ex owner we have a stadium with only three stands because he wanted to host concerts. My plan is to get my army of players to earn there keep by building the 4th stand now we are in the Championship.

Some list of transfers that is. Hopefully the team can carry things on into the Championship. Nice to see Brannigan looking somewhat decent too.

Good luck next season and with the building of the fourth stand 😂

That’s some impressive transfer pages. I’d easily mess those up when posting 😂

I’m very excited to see who’s joining you next season.

That is some ins & outs though, god knows how you manage to actually keep track of it all!

I could lie and pretend I’m really organised but I’m not and I do “find” players now and again that I have forgotten about. The really good ones usually stick in my mind though.

Season 2 - August

It’s season 2 and personally I’m excited as I don’t know how this will go. I have some good players but we are making a step up and some bad results early on could soon see players on there way out the club and things could get sticky quickly.

Bristol City - Away

Last season I lost narrowly on the opening game of the season to Bristol City in the League Cup and I thought we were going to win this time. Disappointingly though we let them back into the game late on and had to settle for a point.

This lead to a player swap and it was midfielder for midfielder but I was gutted to see Cameron Brannagan head to Bristol. Nagy isn’t a bad replacement though so it wasn’t as bad and he will probably get some game time in the next few games.

Blackburn - Home

This was one hell of a game as we took the lead then went behind before going in at half time at 2-2. We then ended up 4-2 down as Trybull and Woodburn scored before we secured a draw with a late late goal.

If the Championship is going to be like this then it’s going to be a fun ride!

We lost our promising midfielder Trae Coyle but I think we got the better deal as I secured Sam Gallagher who looks a real quality Championship striker even if he lacks a little pace.

Swansea - Away

We travelled to Swansea and came back with our first three points of the season thanks to a brace from Fejiri. It was great to get off the mark for the season after the two draws.

I took two midfielders and I’m very pleased with both as they both do jobs as either my BBM or RP in my formation despite lacking some pace. They won’t both immediately be first choice but they are definitely on my radar to get some game time.

Exeter - Away - League Cup

We played Exeter last season in the FA Cup and came away with a 4-0 win. I played a 2nd string side in this game and we were 2 up before 10 minutes. I decided to keep the players off the leash and see how many we could get. In the end we put 7 past them to decimate the Grecians squad.

It was a bit of a dick move keeping the team going for goals but hey ho never mind. I only kept one of the players I stole who Oliver Cooper who is surprisingly good for League 2 and I was surprised to see belonged to Exeter and wasn’t on loan. The other 6 players all got released.

Stoke - Home

It was back to league action but we carried on the goalscoring with our first team as we put 5 past Stoke. Sam Gallagher showed what a fine steal he is with a hat trick in this game. We did concede 2 but that doesn’t matter too much and hopefully we could get some decent players from the Potters.

It wasn’t that great in the end with Nick Powell joining who is an ok midfielder but not better than we have and I don’t like his mental attributes or his stamina for my tactic which requires a lot of work from the midfield two. Jacob Brown looks a good wideman/striker although he joins all the other good players I have in those positions. James McClean joins as well and he is versatile but old and past it.

Preston - Home

Our fine League form continued as we demolished Preston at Grenoble Road with Fejiri continuing to get in and amongst the goals. Jay Fulton got his first for the club and then Sam Gallagher got another goal as well.

The two Irish lads I took, Maguire and Rafferty didn’t make the cut and have been released but Marcel is a decent full back so he can hang about for awhile.

This was very much three points thrown away as our attacking style caught us out. We were 2-0 up and then 3-1 up before Wednesday got it back to 3-3 and managed to secure a player swap.

Not only did we blow a lead but the player swap was far from fair either as they took young striker Indiana Vassilev who is looking not far off being ready to score some goals and improve whilst I got 18 year old Amadou Diallo who is well away from performing regularly at this level.

Fulham - Home - League Cup

We were back in League Cup action as we took on and beat newly relegated Fulham in another fine win. With Fulham having just come down I’m very hopeful that I could take a good player here.

It was there goalscorer who we took and probably the first well known name I have stolen in this save with Jesse Lingard joining. Ok his technicals aren’t amazing but he is still a good player in the Championship and he is the first well known take so I’m happy with this one.

Bournemouth - Away

It had been a fine start to the season but it all came crashing down on the south coast as David Brooks tore us a new one and Bournemouth beat us 3-0. This was especially disappointing as we had beaten them in the cup last season 3-1 but Brooks is a good player and better than everything I have so these sorts of results can happen.

It means I lost three players as well which is as annoying as losing the game. We lost some proper quality as well with Ro-Shaun Williams, Camará and Walker all leaving for Bournemouth meaning I have a hole in defence and midfield especially. I think I can cope with this but I don’t want too many more results like this that’s for sure.

Despite the loss to Bournemouth, who haven’t even had that good a start to the season, we are in 6th and 7 points from the top of the table so it’s not all so bad at the moment.

Very entertaining season so far Fox! Lingard should be a decent signing but the loss of Ro-Shaun Williams is a tough one, looks very good. Look forward to the next update 😁

Great start to the season there. Kinda glad the Muff threw that spanner into the works though, don't want it to just be a boring procession mate, more fun if we mix things up a bit!

R-SW could be a big loss tbf as I don’t have an abundance of great defenders and they aren’t so easy to get hold of in general.

Season 2 - September

The good thing about being in season 2 is that the schedule is much less mental so there is just 5 games this month unlike 8 or 9 like sometimes in season 1. It doesn’t make too much difference in terms of my squad fitness as I have plenty of players but at least it makes the updates a bit more “bite sized”.

Fulham - Away

We beat Fulham in the League Cup before the international break and then we went and absolutely smashed them at Craven Cottage. I’m guessing that Lingard who I took in the cup game had told the Fulham boys what a great 🦊 I am and what a wonder club Oxford is so they all wanted to join.

This result really strengthend the squad as I took two great Championship players in Josh Onomeh and Morgan Gibbs-White who will be straight into the team. Centre back Jerome Opoku looks good as well but Bobby Decordova-Reid isn’t as good as I already have.

Reading - Home

Next up was a Thames Valley derby against Reading and CumDog was the hero in what must be one of his first starts since I took him from Shrewsbury last season. We probably just about deserved the win but it wasn’t a vintage performance.

Just like last season I’m not having any players that play for rival teams in my squad so Luke Southwood was released. It didn’t matter as he wouldn’t have got in my team anyway.

Norwich - Home

Our League Cup campaign continues as we took on Bobby’s boys in the 3rd round. Norwich were promoted last season so this was a good draw against a Premier League side and then the icing on the 🍰 was to beat them 3-0 on penalties.

EF8A09B2-4C0F-4660-8CC2-7DD82BD91E83.thumb.png.dfe0253bbcfc2fbc39fdac843119bdcf.pngC3C05EC7-90AC-4196-88E9-B0E520F02AF2.thumb.png.7d262f51e67a2a2a0402ee47c2338aa2.png

If you remember from last season a penalty shootout win yields one player won/lost so I took one of Norwich’s lads. It was one of there star men as well with playmaker Buendia joining and he is going to look very nice on the right side of my front 4.

Brentford - Home

On the back of our cup heroics we took on @Mr Tree’s 🐝🐝 I’m sure he hasn’t been able to think about anything else all day and just to tantalise him further and make him work for it here is they result in a spoiler.

A dull 0-0 draw means it wasn’t worth opening the spoiler was it?

I think Brentford got the better of the day as they managed to scrap a point and they took one of my better CB’s whilst I got an ancient RB in return.

Derby - Away

We finished the month with a narrow win over Derby after being behind twice in the game. Marquis came into the team and rewarded me with a goal whilst Agyei is always good value when he gets a game.

I stole former Liverpool and Bournemouth player Jordan Ibe who looks decent with plenty of pace, decent crossing, creativity and movement but I don’t like his teamwork and the worry is he is lazy which won’t work in my team. He is in the first team and time will tell if he gets a game or not.

A successful month sees us up to 2nd but that Bournemouth defeat is still stuck in the back of mind so I’m not sure if we are looking at a title bid or if we will drop back a bit over the next couple of months. I have taken some good players but I have lost two good CB’s in the last two months and the quality isn’t that great at the back so I’m relying more on scoring plenty of goals like the Derby game.

Brilliant month for you there, I’ve wanted to use Buendia on this years version because he looks pretty damn good, I imagine with training he could become a great player. Looking good for this season👌

Proud of the bees for holding you there! Dalsgaard, hilarious, what a terrible grab :( Some good work otherwise - Onomah looks like he's gonna be a cracking player in real life...

You not a fan of Dalsgaard then? He looks ok to me except of his age so he will probably decline quickly now especially as my facilities are very average and he won’t play that often.

Season 2 - October

We had climbed up to the heady heights of 2nd in the league and we’re going well in the League Cup as well. WBA were above us and we would play them twice this month in league and cup with varying results.

Huddersfield - Home

Huddersfield were blown away by our relentless attacking in this game and by the time Jack Vale (remember him? He was the disappointing steal from Blackburn last season) made it 3-0 I had shut up shop looking to limit the number of players I would have to not use from Huddersfield.

I actually got two decent players with Scarpa who looks ok although he was in the reserves before the month was done and Hogg looks a good CM in an emergency but Toffolo was released straight away.

WBA - Away

This was the first of our October WBA Double Header and it was first blood to the mighty yellows as we closed the gap at the top with a 2-0 win. There wasn’t much between us in the game except we were more clinical.

Having just been relegated I was hoping for some good players and they didn’t disappoint with Lewis Gibson being a handy addition that can improve at CB which is a position I have lost a couple of decent players recently. Callum Robinson is less needed but he looks alright and might get some game time.

Birmingham - Home

After that good win this was a much more edgy performance although usually we created 4 CCC which we don’t usually with out shoot on sight policy. A wins a win though and it was good to keep the pressure on WBA.

Fran Villalba was the steal and he isn’t a bad player but I simply didn’t have room for him as he isn’t better than I have already so I released him immediately.

WBA - Away - League Cup

So it turns out that when we do lose we do it properly as WBA got a quick revenge for the league defeat by smashing us 3-0. I also had a lesson that I perhaps don’t have the strength in depth that I thought I had as I played a 2nd XI in this game and we were awful for the whole match. It’s a shame really as it’s a decent cup run but one that was ended by a team we could have beaten and without any major captures other than Buendia.

This result trimmed the squad a bit though. The biggest disappointment was losing Jerome Opuku who I had taken from Fulham and was settling in to be a good CB. The other two players to go were TM’s Mandron and Ollie Palmer who are less of a loss with the players I still have.

Peterborough -

I was able to end the month on a positive note though as we hit 4 against Peterborough in the league. It was that lethal combo of Gallagher and Agyei who were at it again with 3 of the goals and then Lingard got his name on the scoresheet as well.

Peterborough really had nothing to offer on the pitch or with the players I took so I released them all although I could have taken former Oxford CB Charlie Raglan back if he wasn’t average at best.

We end the month top of the league but I’m irritated by that cup loss as I wish I hadn’t been quite so arrogant with my team selection and we could have moved on in the competition. Had we won that game we would have taken on Tottenham in the quarter finals and that would have been good fun.

Season 2 - November

We went into November sitting top of the league and looking to build on this bright start.

This was a mixed month results wise though.

Rotherham - Away

There was no issues in this game as the Gallagher-Agyei dream team carried on getting the goals as we were too clinical for the Millers.

I wasn’t expecting much from the players but I did decide to keep CB Wes Harding  who will be ok as a back up. Ben Wiles looks good as well but I don’t need him at this stage.

Barnsley - Home

We took on another of Yorkshire’s clubs but they got the better of us despite us getting getting back into this game at 3-2 and pushing to equalise towards the end. This was just our 2nd league defeat of the season and at least CumDogs goal meant we lose just one player.

With CumDog getting a goal I hoped he might go but there was no such luck as the Gallagher-Agyei dream team got broken up and scoring a combined 18 goals at the start of the season 😫

Hull - Away

Not for the first time this season we were involved in an absolute barnstormer of a match as we lead Hull early on before they went 2-1 up. We then made it 2 all just before half-time before they immediately took the lead again straight after the break. Callum Robinson then got us back in the game and then gave us the lead with 8 minutes left before Dembélé, a player Hull took from us last season, got a late equaliser.

Callum Robinson who I had taken from WBA last month moved to Hull and we took back Dembélé who has now moved from Peterborough to us, then onto Hull and now back to us in this save so far. I’m happy with that take because he could be a decent replacement for Agyei.

QPR - Home

We got back to winning ways with a home game against QPR as Ibe made himself useful and then Gallagher showed he doesn’t need Agyei around to score.

A second loss by 1 goal means another player going and it was Sam Gallagher who left so my two most prolific goalscorers have left in this update. I still have good options so it’s not panic time just yet but this hasn’t been the best update.

Those two lost games have given WBA the chance to pull away and are now 6points clear. We are also looking over our shoulders with Bournemouth just a point behind now although we still look well placed in the top 6 for a playoff place.

Some decent players lost there Fox but I’m sure you’ll bounce back. I enjoyed that Wilfred Bony scored against you and he’s still going! Shame about Gallagher leaving as he looks very decent.

Season 2 - December

November wasn’t the best month and we were looking to get back on track in our pursuit of an automatic promotion spot.

Millwall - Home

This was the perfect game to get back on track and we took full advantage by taking Millwall apart. Jesse Lingard put in his best performance for us so far with two goals and then the scoring was completed by RB Ramsey in a performance that will have got some confidence back into the team.

I wasn’t expecting too much from the Millwall squad but I actually got three useful players with two decent CB’s in Cooper and Hutchinson and then a good RB in Romeo.

West Ham - Away

We travelled to newly relegated West Ham and put in an excellent performance creating 4 CCC but still came away with a loss after a last minute winner for the Hammers. We were strangely lacking in that killer instinct in this game which is usually something we have as we normally take even a half chance we get. CumDog looked to have secured us a point but Fornals claimed a winner in the dying moments as they kept themselves well in the promotion race.

It was between CumDog and Woolfenden to get a move to West Ham and it was the CB who had the higher AvG. He is a good player and should get some game time for them if they have any sense and I was disappointed to see him go.

Middlesbrough - Home

We again created some good chances but again lost points as we could only draw with Boro. It looked like we were heading for the win when Lingard scored but we couldn’t get a 2nd and they took full advantage to claim a point.

It was the two goalscorers who changed places meaning I lost Lingard who was in good form but I gained a player who can play in my RP role although he is probably behind at least Gibbs-White in the pecking order.

Bristol City - Home

This was more like it as we got back to winning ways with 3 goals in the first 30 minutes. This was much more like the performances we had early in the season with clinical finishing and the defence denying the opposition too many chances although they weren’t so clinical.

These were two good steals as we took Jackson Irvine who is a good midfield option and then Finnbogason who isn’t going to be a first choice TM unless things are going wrong but he could be useful.

Swansea - Home

We made it back to back wins as we beat Swansea 2-1. We went behind early but then CumDog got us back in the game before Marquis took advantage of a rare start to score the winner in our final league game of the year.

The Swansea goalscorer was the player I took but he wasn’t a player I needed so I released him.

We have one more game this update which is the FA Cup third round but first a look at the table shows that Bournemouth have leapfrogged us this month after our 4 dropped points and WBA are starting to look out of sight at the top. We look quite secure in the playoff places but there is still a long way to go.

Just like last season I got an easy draw in the FA Cup third round.

Bristol Rovers - Home

I played some of the fringe players in this game and in true FA Cup style the lower league team gave us a good game. We came out winners in the end with Vale and Finnbogason adding to Coopers opener and we go through to a potential tie against a big side in round 4.

Unsurprisingly I didn’t take any players I felt worth keeping.

We did get a big team in round 4 as we have a replay of last years Quarter Final tie when Chelsea put 4 past us without reply. This time we will be at home and hopefully we can put on a better performance.

Great stuff Foxy. A lot of familiar names now... that Romeo bloke always plays well against us in real life, hopefully he can do a job for you 👍
