I've been considering De Bruyne but don't you think he'll be stealing too many goals?

I used him as a winger on my attempt and he done great, wouldn’t use him as a AM though 😁

Badge 6 - Ronny's Year Update

Ronny needed 38 goals before January to complete this challenge. By my calculations he needed to slightly improve his gpg, whilst declining VERY quickly. I have to say this part of the challenge was the most tense half season I have ever played... 

This was the main squad for this part of the season. Valverde stepped up and took Goretzkas spot (never thought that would happen but he just wasn't performing!). Pretty pleased with the teams ratings overall, except Davies who was struggling to settle in.

14 of the 40 goals in these 4 games alone 😂

Ronaldo had some great runs of form, and at one point I thought we were going to smash a great score in for this challenge. He needed 1 goal with 3 games remaining, but he was exhausted for the 1st of those 3 so he couldn't play. The 2nd to last game was against Liverpool, and he grabbed the goal that saw us get this darn Badge once and for all 😂 I kept him on the whole game against Granada, hoping he would grab a huge bag of goals but he decided to stop at 2 and leave our final score at a round 80 points. Here's how he looked at the end of the season:

He declined alot, but his aerial and shooting didn't drop below 17 which kept our badge dreams alive I reckon. Still, the decline didn't stop him scoring more gpg. Sane hopped right in and took the title of top assister from Ziyech. Great buy in the end, and just as well as James spent over a month injured. 

Well, I'm chuffed to have got there in the end with this one, even if we barely scraped over the finish line. And it only took 1.06 billion quid to do it 😂 (and finding my inner Christine, thanks @RichD) 

Really did enjoy this challenge overall, although I must admit my patience was on its last legs and it was extremely frustrating at times! I'm just glad to now have a tactic that I'm fairly confident will work wonderfully for a future 1KC, plus a nice shiny badge to go with it. And with that.... Onto the next badge!

@FuddledFox and @Rob would you kindly update the leaderboards, and badge board please.

Badge 7 - Rooney's Derby Days

Challenge here, credit to @Rob.

I was looking forward to getting my teeth into this one. I really enjoyed Redknapping and was treating this one in a similar fashion; plenty of wheelin' and dealin' and a shed load of goals with gung-ho style football. I did begin with the same tactic, but soon adapted it (albeit only some slight changes). I underestimated just how tough the Championship was, and was getting smashed far too often. Anyway, here's how the challenge went:

If you couldn't tell, I really wasn't happy with the squad at all. I almost completely overhauled the team, and I'm pleased to say that the players we spent the money on were worth every penny. Plus, we even had 20m transfer funds remaining after the deals were finished. I just couldn't find anyone that would really add anything to the squad at the time. 

Results

Plenty of goals still. I expected a lot less after the tweaks I made to the tactic but the team really played well and kept banging them in. 

Romped home with the league, losing only 1 game away the whole season and 5 in total. 113 points from the league, so let's see how Shrek got on:

A mere shadow of the man he once was, but still showing the boys how its done. He wasn't quite top scorer, but was right up there with contributions with an awesome 46 goals and assists in total. I thought it was a risk playing him up front but he really proved me wrong. Well played Rooney.

In closing, this was a fantastic challenge. Right up my street, and another chance for me to score a tonne of goals. Rooney really did well with his stats, although if I had to be picky he should really have scored and assisted a lot more! His training report said "an expert in dead ball situations" and yet I reckon he converted around 10% of his penalties, and barely assisted from corners 🤣 

Also, I really thought I had the top spot in the bag with this one, and would have done had it not been for a 3 week injury to Rooney in the last month of the season and Preston holding us to a 0-0 draw in one of our last games of the season 🙄 (also just happened to be the only game all season in which we failed to score a goal!) I feel truly robbed. Who the hell are Preston anyway? 

@Rob Could you please add me to the leaderboards when you get a moment?
