I was doing the post about the Everton game earlier and just thought I’d go into the negotiations page basically so I could more or less confirm that this would definitely be the final season. To my shock he was willing to extend so we go on as I always said I’d let them decide when we finish this.

Thank you Mr Fox, I asked him if he’d reconsider his planned retirement after he signed the deal but unfortunately he wouldn’t so the five years may well be the maximum but he and Richarlison will be 40 at the end so seems reasonable. Richarlison has signed too so just need the other two to follow suit now and we’ll be set. Lord knows what kind of state the two Everton boys will be in at the end 😂

When this started out i remember you weren't sure whether it was going to be a TT or a foursome and you stuck at the foursome. I would say that was a great decision as you have smashed the peverbials out of this so far.

Thank you Broodje, unfortunately he’s rejected my request for him to reconsider his planned retirement at end of current contract so it looks like the five years will be the maximum we can get. He’ll be 40 by then though so it’s reasonable but he may decide to pack it in early. We’ll see what happens.

Thank you Kane, I wasn’t expecting to go any further than this season as I remember last year when players were his age and wouldn’t negotiate a new deal that it was usually the end. I’ve got the same with Leão now who has another three years on his deal so we’ll see what happens with him. Maldini just wants too much money so I’m confident we should be able to extend him as his demand will surely lower as he’s ageing all of the time.

Thanks Woody, I remember just wanting to go with three but couldn’t decide between Leão and Maldini so ended up going for both of them. It has worked out well though as with just playing three at a time it’s made injuries not much of a thing as if there’s just one of them out it hardly matters and we haven’t had too many occasions when we’ve had two out together.

Season 12

I went into this season thinking it’d be our last with DCL looking like he wouldn’t sign a new deal but things suddenly changed towards the end of the season as he decided he was happy to sign after all so we may well have another five seasons left after this one. The two Everton boys were already noticeably declining before we’d even begun this season and Leão is also at that age where you’re looking and starting to wonder when he’ll begin to go backwards so hopefully those three can keep somewhat decent for as long as possible.

 

Transfers

There were only youth graduates incoming this year as with this looking like being the final season at the time I decided just to get all of the older chaps to sign up for just one more season as they still seemed capable. Plenty of work will need to be done next season now though as we’ll need to create a new team for the next few years.

Team Performances

A nice season and probably better than the last in truth as we scored a few more league goals. The declining challengers aren’t much of a hindrance to results at this stage but how long that continues remains to be seen.

Rossoneri Toffees

There were a few injuries to the challengers this season but nothing that hindered us too much in all honesty as we’re rotating four players into three positions.

The Everton boys are declining especially their physical attributes, Leão is still great but having just turned 33 you can almost sense the inevitable decline is just around the corner for him so we could end up with Maldini as the main man very shortly. We started with Maldini as the young very much fourth choice player and we’ll more than likely end with him carrying the other three oldies over his shoulders which I find somewhat fascinating.

You can almost see how things are going now just looking at the numbers here as it’s clearly the Leão and Maldini show. It’s not like the other two can’t score though and if they can just hang around in a similar state to this for a few more years we’ll be happy. The foursome managed 119 goals over the season which puts us on 1,599 goals for the challenge which is pretty decent. We keep going!

Thanks Richard, they are and I’m just hoping things stay somewhat decent for the at least another two seasons. It’ll no doubt become a slog at some point if they end up playing the full five seasons so want to hold that off for as long as possible 😂

Thank you Broodje, they’re still doing fine and we just have to hope that continues. I don’t mind having one poor player to carry and I’ve done that a few times but three or even four will be interesting. I’d like to think that as bad as things get I’d still be able to have two of them on the pitch without results just becoming shite. We’ll see I guess.

Sad to see the decline of the Everton two and I guess the other two will starting down that hill shortly too, but that's a massive total so far and it's not over yet! Maybe 2K is out of reach? What do you think?

Thank you Scratch, the Everton boys seemed to decline a little earlier than I thought, I mean they’d both already declined a good bit by the time they were at the age Leão is now whereas he is still looking pretty strong. You can sense his decline is just around the corner though so we’re just hoping he can maybe stay decent for another couple of seasons. I have looked at the 2k which means I suppose it is the target now but I’m really not too confident about it and I think to have any chance we need 100 plus returns in each of the next two seasons. We’d then need around 200 for the final three seasons but of course that’s only if they continue playing until the end of DCL’s contract. It is in my mind about how I’m almost certain the system is better now so if we had have used this throughout I feel we’d be good for the 2k. Shouldn’t think like that really but even just 7-10 more goals in each of those first eight or nine seasons would’ve made a big difference. Doesn’t matter though really as I’ve enjoyed it and the process of building the system as I’ve been going. We’ll see how it goes.

He was trying too hard earlier so now that his legs are starting to go I’ve told him just to stand around the box and let others find him. You’ll see an improvement I’m sure.

It’s been a while since I last posted an update to this career so here I am with a two season update as we close in on the end.

 

Season 13

We have a maximum of five seasons to go here and need 401 goals if we’re to hit the 2k target we have set, so basically I feel like the quadrant needs to hit more than 100 goals in each of the next two seasons to keep the dream alive.

 

Transfers

Not much to say here as we’re well into regen territory now. We brought in a couple of midfielders, a centre back and a left winger, all of whom are below 26 so should last the duration of the save providing they’re good enough that is.

I’m sure at some point we’ll reach the stage where we just won’t be able to play three of the ageing challengers together without a major drop off in terms of results but we certainly aren’t there yet as we were pretty solid this season in that respect in winning everything.

Rossoneri Toffees

A rather rapid decline of the two Everton boys now but they are still contributing as together they scored 45 of the 113 goals the four managed this season. There were only a few minor injuries to the challengers so not really worth going into and the CWC did help in giving them a few more games but we’re still happy with the return which gives us a little leeway for next year. The target still remains 100 plus though.

 

You can see what I’m talking about with the Everton boys and their decline but Leão seems determined to hold off on his for as long as possible as he still looks pretty good for 34. Maldini has dropped a bit of pace so I’m hoping that isn’t a sign that he will perhaps decline early, we’ll have to keep an eye on that as I was kind of banking on him remaining fairly decent until the bitter end.

Straight into action now with the next season.

Again, not much point in going into much detail here at this stage and I was tempted to just leave this off but in the end I decided to include it for confirmation purposes. I guess it does show that there hasn’t been any funny business going on in regards to a certain transfer bug.

Team Performances

We’re still pretty solid for results but not sure that that will remain so for much longer to be honest as there were a few more poor results showing. I’ve got a few things in mind to try if things do get bad such as changing at least one of my CM’s to the BBM role to give us a bit more edge but we aren’t at that stage yet. Just the Champions League that eluded us as BMG kind of FMMed us in truth.

Rossoneri Toffees

The highlight this year has to be this game where Richarlison showed the youngsters how to go about things with a fine display. He’d scored a couple of goals and stepped up to take the last minute penalty to complete the hat trick, only to blast it high and wide. Just typical of him!

 

102 goals for the challengers this year which means we’ve made my targets and are still on course for the 2k. We need 186 goals in the final three seasons (if they play on that long) so 62 per year which certainly looks doable. I’d say the target for next season is around 80 to make things seem more comfortable but suppose anything above 75 and I’d be happy. Anything below 75 and I’d be a little concerned to be honest.

 

Leão is still half decent, the Everton boys are starting to look a little revolting and Maldini is holding on even though his pace is dropping.

Somehow missed this career until today, just enjoyed reading through. 

 

I must admit I thought the end was nigh a couple if seasons back but your update has proved that wrong. DCL has been especially pleading, I used him for a single season on something I was planning and he was very consistent.
