Career Shrek’s Final Season - RichD

So welcome to my next challenge as I try and get the next badge, I have managed to get the other badges successfully, but are things getting harder as the Ronaldo one was the hardest yet?

Approach 

So I went in to this knowing Derby had struggles in real life, but did not realise how bad the squad actually was, so I am going for a massive overhaul of players on this challenge.

Transfers

 

So as you can see, some massive wheeling and dealing done for this one and it took prime concentration for this, very happy with some of them signings, didn’t think someone like Pato would join, but he’s in for the season. Can’t wait to try and use some of these players.

The Set Up

 

So this is my approach for the season, things may change as the first two games were not that promising tbh. May change a few roles, may even stick the wingers up as inside forwards and just go for it!

Looking Forward

I’m hoping for a good season but I think this could be the hardest challenge yet judging by my start, there’s a difference in the first and second team and games come thick and fast so the second team will be used quite a bit.

Yeah. I thought this would be a breeze but judging by my first attempt it won't be. Rooney's stats take a massive dip quite early. It's different than using Ronaldo as he is amazing to begin with. Rooney isn't. 😕 I'm about half way and feel like scrapping it already.

Yeah it’s not an easy one at all, surprising really, I thought it would be a bit easier than this, I’m only 3 games in though, so hope I can do well from here...

I’ve already gone back to my goal bonanza tactic, first game using it 5-5, but Rooney got two 😂

August - January 

So I’m already back with an update, ploughed through from August to January and it was really enjoyable after a shady start. 
 

The Style Of Play

So from playing the formation previously stated in the first post I have now gone back to my tried and trusted Goal Bonanza tactic with a couple of adjustments making it a bit more solid, you probably won’t think it’s very solid when you see the goals conceded. But there was a lot of goals....

All The Fixtures 

So as you can see form really picked up after I changed the formation, absolute shed load of goals as well, which is as so much fun to manage!

League Table

 

So going great guns now, the boys really picked up with the change in formation and gelled so well, hopefully we can keep this up as it’s very close up top of the league with only 3 points from 1st to 5th. 
 

Squad Stats

So as you can see, Rooney has been very decent thus far, his stats have now decreased a lot, so he doesn’t look the same player as he was. Hopefully he can at least get another 10/15 goals.

Rooney’s Attributes 

Not great stats now, but should be alright for the rest of the season. He’s being used as poacher which he’s actually been playing very well at. He’s got players around him that can do the running.

Looking Forward

So I am looking at loan or even permanent signings to improve the midfield and striking options, a winger would do us nicely. I will let you know how that goes.

It’s a big job building the squad to be fair, lucky I enjoy that kind of thing, Pato is very decent to be fair!

What a mad game it was, think I was 5-1 up at one point, some games should have a lot more goals in them, I had so many shots every game, hopefully new striker can Bag loads of goals 😂

January - May

I think we all knew it wouldn’t be long until I completed this challenge, it was a very fun one and I would recommend it, my advice would be, maybe don’t try new tactics, go with your tried and tested. Not like me who loves being silly and trying new things every game.

Transfers

No point showing full transfers as we only loan players, some awesome signings that would surely strengthen us.

Tactics

 

So I adjusted my goal bonanza tactic for this one just to be a bit more solid, as you can see I don’t like using loans all the time so they mostly made up my second team. The relationships look amazing 😍

The Fixtures

 

As you can see we were awesome from January, it helps having a very strong squad. I think I’ll update the goal bonanza thread with an alternative tactic, as This worked so well, even dominating the Liverpool game, just there salah and Mane took there chances. Most importantly did this mean we got promoted?

League Table

 

Yes we done it and very easily in the end, I thought this was going to be my toughest test to date on getting the badge but turns out with the adjustments I made, it went rather well and we get a nice 111 points. Plenty of goals scored as well, but bloody hell did we like conceding!

Injury 

 

I never remember to screenshot these, but I remembered this time. Only a month out for Shrek. I cropped it so you couldn’t see how many he scored and assisted.

So a great final season for the boy, he done better than I thought he would, which should give us a decent total 😁

Lucky I changed back to a tried and trusted tactic with a couple of adjustments and it worked a treat. Made some good signings in January as well which helped.

Yeah, I'm learning that it's better to go with what you know. I've used two up front for this challenge. First time I've done that since the Chelsea wonderkid challenge right at the start. I'm nearly finished but not sure I'll even post it. I might start again with the tactic I've used for most of the challenges and see where that gets me.

This just reminded me, I did 3 half seasons on a tactic I created the other week and I totally forgot about it for this one, I’m determined to make a new tactic that really works because I’ve made the one I use now about 3 years ago. So need a change!
