Career McKennie Strikerless 1k, Reyna & Musah split 1k COMPLETE

He's having a Weston (Super-Mare)! Affectionately spouted by some of our cockney friends on Soccer Saturday and TalkSport with reference to a player having a nightmare (poor game).

This leads me to our player who i am going to attempt to score 1000 goals with. I wanted a good challenge and having started a TT attempt and a few other long term careers without getting drawn in enough to post a career, this is the challenge that has caught me. Probably because there is every chance that i won't do it. I need to be very lucky with injuries and also nab the international job ASAP.

As in the title, the player is a ball winning midfielder by trade, but has some excellent all round attributes and can easily be trained to the AMC role. He isn't too young either, aged 22 so i need to hit the ground running and stay running for a good 15 seasons to have any chance with this. He has to perform really well until his late 30's at best.

He is going to be joined by two players of the same nationality to make it a strikerless 1k attempt and also a strikerless TT attempt. One was born in Sunderland and has a footballing father, the other lived in London as a child and started his career at Arsenal before moving to Spain.

All 3 are USA internationals. Given the nature of my main player's contract there are only two clubs i can take on this challenge with.

I got excited that you might be managing Weston Super Mare in this save as it was the scene of possibly the greatest triumph in Fox family history when we won 823 tickets on one machine on the Grand Pier and Foxy Jr actually got a decent prize.

That said I’m liking the player choices so good luck.

Season 1

In case you haven’t guessed, our ‘Weston’ is this guy. A very good all round midfielder, flexible enough to retrain to AMC fairly swiftly. I had a decent strikerless tactic I used last year, I tweaked it slightly and tested it with Savic at Lazio and it worked very well, so that gave me the confidence to give this a go.

He starts on loan at Juve from Schalke so there was a choice of two clubs. I went for Juve thinking better squad/better resources will help get cracking straight away. You can buyout his loan for £17m, unfortunately young Weston didn’t want to join us whenever I tried to buyout the loan so he stayed the whole season with us as a loan player. Annoying but not the end of the world providing he would actually sign at the end of his loan!

 

His supporting cast was Sunderland’s very own Giovanni Reyna and Yunus Musah from Valencia. Two wonderkids to play either side of Weston and hopefully supply the ammo and also contribute to a TT.

 

Transfers

We shifted on as many squad players as possible and brought in another American (Dest) for the right side and some attacking cover in Corona (not that one). I needed to leave some money in the bank to sign Weston at some point.

Team Performance 

As expected we cleaned up easily enough domestically, but PSG knocked us out of the CL quarters which cost us a few extra games.

Player Stats

Although the team did well it was still a bit of a development year, the two youngsters improved nicely. Weston improved his shooting by one notch, but also his tacking by two notches! Not the way I was hoping or the training method I was using. However he still had a great first season.

He also seems half decent at penalties which makes a nice change for these challenges.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice at the end of season 1 he still wouldn’t let me buyout his loan and sign him. In true FMM quirky fashion he had to go back to Schalke, making me spunk most of my budget on him, a cool £61m, and lo and behold he was delighted to sign. Cheers Weston!

 

The important part was that he was finally a Juve player and with 61 goals in his first season he had a good base to build on.

Thanks mate. It’s a strong squad so didn’t need much tweaking and had quality back ups in Ronaldo and Dybala for when I needed to rest my 3 Americans. Centre mid is one area I need to improve on moving forward.

Fantastic start Smoggy! I still don't know how you get that many goals without a striker! 😄

I will say the training thing sounds similar to my defender TT - they do train up in the more attacking attributes that go with the role you've asked them to train for, but they still improve the attributes of their original roles. A litte fustrating, but no doubt at all that he'll be good enough to complete this easily..

Thank you. Serie A is a surprisingly weak league i find, it's just the lack of cup games which can be a pain, especially rare to play a lower league team.

Thanks mate, even with shooting of 10 he's firing them in. In my test save with a more natural AMC i was able to get a lot of goals so i knew i could hit decent numbers he'll just miss a few more chances along the way.

Season 2

This season exceeded expectations for Weston. It was buoyed by having the WCC at the end of the season where he banged in 10 goals against some rank conference level sides teams, so bit of a bonus season really. 
 

Transfers

The transfer of Weston registered as this season which unfortunately took a bulk of my budget. I supplemented a few positions in the squad and topped them up with some decent loans.

Team Performance 

Storming season across the board winning everything. The squad is strong, just needs a bit more shaping up and strengthening in the middle of the park so hopefully we’ll be contenders and winning the majority of trophies from here on in.

Player Performance 

Fantastic season from all three, but particularly Weston. As I said the World Club Championship at the end of the season really boosted his numbers so I’m not sure this will be a regular number but I’ll take it for now. Not much movement at all on his attributes unfortunately. He’s become a ‘10 magnet’, I’m not sure if it’s do to with his position but he generally gets a 10 even when just scoring once, and he’s not a big assister.

I was originally aiming for 60 goals a season for 15 seasons and 100 international goals so we’re creeping ahead of that, which is good as I can’t see him netting 60 a season in his late 30’s. Still waiting on the USA job to come up. The TT should hopefully be less of a worry if we can hit 120ish per season

Yeah it was definitely more than expected at this stage. That world club cup was a massive bonus, he missed one of the games due to international duty but still notched 10 goals.

Cheers guys. I have spent a while testing and like i said did a test season with Savic where he absolutely smashed it so i thought a weaker player should still get decent enough numbers. Still 80 was exceeding expectations and was helped by the bonus world club cup games.

Strengthened centre mid with Ndidi and Cuisance. Onana on a bosman was a no brainer and Saka to run that left hand side.

Had a nightmare CL campaign and got knocked out of a tough group, got to the semis of the Europa League before bowing out. Poor in Europe but dominant domestically.

Season 3 was interrupted by the World Cup and then a fixture pile up so a dip there, season 4 was our best total from all 3 to date with Reyna and Musah really improving their tallies. McKennie is fairly consistent apart from that fantastic season 2 and if he can stay around 70 I will be happy. Although I’m still waiting for the USA job to come up which will really help boost my totals if/when it comes along.
