Thank you Richard, it was one of them where I’d usually just make a few subs, go overload and hope for the best. I was already on overload though with this tactic so just the subs lol.

The second part of the challenge is much more enjoyable with games spaced out better. I think my Ronnie was rested for two games only.

Thank you Lord Danish, yes hopefully this is the one but if not I’ll be back with another attempt as I’m fairly confident we can get it with this system now.

Thanks Billy, yeah one of the benefits of doing this a few times is getting to know the sort of deals you can pull off. With the fees and exchanges sometimes you’re never sure how low you can go so on each subsequent attempt I’ve gone a bit lower and on this attempt I ended up with a similar squad to last time but with about £100m left over.

I think my last system was a little too reliant on Ronaldo so once he dropped in quality we suffered. We’re scoring much more this time so with any luck he’ll still pick away even if his attributes drop a bit.

Right, let’s see if we could get Ronny the 28 goals we required to complete the challenge in the first half of the second season.

I won’t delay things and will just start with him.

We got to this stage of the season with seven games left and five goals remaining for Ronaldo.

 

A nice brace in this 7-1 victory got him to our target with a further three games to go.

 

He managed another four goals in the final three games to take his total for the calendar year to 82 goals. He’s declining all of the time but if you ignore the physical attributes, he’s still decent really.

 

Not much more to say really so I’ll just post the relevant screenshots in one big dump.

I basically spent for the sake of it as the squad was still decent. I decided to let Ramos go as his contract was up so Fabinho came in as his replacement and I probably over paid on a new backup striker in Milik but I just felt Benzema was declining a touch so why not? Simón was bought due to us having money available and not having much of a backup keeper. We were nowhere near as tight defensively and it’s looking like Ramos was kind of important last season in that regard as there’s not really much else that’s that different in the squad. It’s not much of a big deal I suppose but we’ve already conceded 28 league goals and only conceded 34 over the whole season last year so it’s a bit puzzling. I’m thinking maybe the five substitutes rule may have helped last year but doesn’t seem like it could be that drastic a change. Never mind I guess, just one of those things and further testing with different teams and players probably required.

Ronaldo: 50 + 32 = 82 goals

 

We’ve made the target and collected the badge so we’re happy enough. Next up I think I’ll try this tactic with some slight changes for the Dortmund badge. I’m not convinced with the youngsters and Dortmund that it’ll be as successful as this but we can only try and it’ll be fun seeing how it goes.

Thank you Richard, I’m glad we could get there as at one point I had my doubts. Little bit of testing and it became clear we could do it so it was just a matter of time.

Thanks Chris, I’ve got a test save with similar players to this so I’m likely to keep testing a few things. If I’ve got saves that are set up with transfers and everything completed I have no problem just trying a few things occasionally and if I get something I think is better I may well have another attempt.

He certainly is and in the big cup games too. I think it was on my first attempt where he ran riot against Barca in one of the cup games. He’s done this against me on other saves loads of times too. It’ll be a year or so in and he’ll score a brace or hat trick against us in the CL from nowhere and I’ll check his stats to see he’s mega declined.

Thank you Rob, all of the testing for this may well help me with some of my other systems as a lot of it was too many horrible results and the few changes made here seem (touch wood) to have made us more steady.
