February 2023 - End of Season 3 Update

Sorry for this very late update, but I've been pretty busy and didn't have much time to play.

Season 3 was very successful for Suwon, but let's proceed in order:

National league

Honestly, I don't have much to say about the championship: thanks to the fact that the teams behind slowed each other down, we won the championship with an embarrassing lead over the second team.

Asian Champion's League

Here the matter is more interesting.
We managed to win a tough group against Chinese superpower Guangzhou Evergrande and then meet them immediately in the first knockout phase.

Not without some difficulty, but we managed to beat them.
This brings us to the semi-finals, where we face another Chinese powerhouse, SH Port.
The first leg, in which we were at home, was a nightmare: although we played better than them, they managed to score three away goals, which was a big burden for the return leg.

We go into the return leg in Shanghai knowing that we have only one outcome: victory.
And here my team played perhaps the best game since I have been coaching them, dominating their opponents and reaching the final. 

In the final we face Shajah, a team that, if I am not mistaken, plays in the United Arab Emirates.

I didn't know our opponents very well, but they had to be deserving if they managed to get that far.

In the first leg, at home, we won 3-1 quite comfortably.

The return leg is more difficult, played in the sweltering heat of the Arabian Peninsula desert, we often find ourselves chasing, but in the end the game ends 3-3, which means that...

WE WON THE ACL!!!

However, this does not mean that we will play the CWC. Under the new format, it will be played every four years, with the first one being played in 2025.
Honestly it's a bit of a pain in the ass, I was hoping to compete for the challenge goal right away.
However, it does mean that we will have time to strengthen the squad to be able to compete against the top European teams.

Kim Gun-Hee, my national hero, scored five goals again in this round of the Asian Champions Cup, unfortunately between one thing and another I didn't take a screenshot.
He played very well in the league, winning the top scorer title.

The job offers keep coming in, this time even South Korea wants me on their bench.

Nice work, I think you'll usually be playing a Saudi or Emirati team in the final of the ACL, they are full of very good greyed out players and steamroll the real teams from other leagues. That first CWC is going to be tough, you'll need the extra few years to prepare!
