Tactics Man City's No Striker tactic, 2-3-2-3 with Man United

Hi everyone, this is my first post here and I want to show you the tactic I used in career with Man United. I'm a fan of Man United, but to be honest, I really impressed with how Man City played their football this season, specially when they weren't using any strikers, so I tried to do what they do and implement them in my FMM with Man United, let's get started.

Basically this is a 4 - 3 - 3 formation with extremely near compactness, 2 - 3 - 2 - 3. I pushed 2 FB to be WB and pulled the striker to be SS. Here's it.

So I really tried so hard to copy what Man City did in real life. They control the possession with normal pace and creative freedom for the players. Also the press the opponent from up front. When attacking, they use short passing and I use look for overlap because Man City's Wing Back tend to attack and give crosses. I also use run at defence because how Man City's players are great at dribbling forward.

This is my second season, and the result is really, really, really amazing!!!!! I didn't lose any single game, and now I'm in a 43 matches winning streak after several draws in the early stage of the season.

The only problem I get is because my right wing is Martial, he didn't produce many goals, but good amount of assist. I think because of his strong foot is right and he is playing on right side as INside Forward, so when he did cut in and shoot, he shot with weak foot and not score.

Other problem is when facing a pacy forward, I tend to conceded from counter because Maguire is like very slow 😅.

Oh, and for addition, if you face a strong opposition (i.e. Man City or Liverpool or PSG or Barca), you may change in the :

[Team Shape] -> (Mentality) Control to Attacking, (Tempo) Normal to Fast, (Creativity) Expressive to Normal

[Attack] -> Look for Overlap to Early Cross, Work into Box to Shoot on Sight, Run at Defence to Through Balls

I will update later for the corner tactics, it produces good number of goals for my tall players, and I really look into your advices to improve this tactic 🙏🙏🙏

Thankyouu

Looks very interesting! Do you have an overview of goals and assists? I am especially curious about the shadow striker.

Yaeah here's the stats

Pogba, Maguire and McTominay are mainly got their goals from corners.

For Greenwood, I 'forced' him to score by giving him the job on set pieces (fk and pk) and he scores eventually because he has free kick traits.

And yeah I need some tips for Martial, should I just sell him and replace him with Amad Diallo or Tahith Chong? They are left footed.

Yes I would sell Martial. As you said yourself a left-footed player on the right is better when you want more goals. Now you force him to shoot with his weak leg.

Doesnt work in Italy. Well against attacking teams like juve and atalanta got some very convincing win, but too many draw results. Can’t even beat serie b team

does this tactic always control ball possession against any team?

U can get 55-70% depends on who you are against, just try it yourself
