Season 24

I kept the same tactic as last season as I had at this point given up on the assists a little, especially as this season was Pipi’s last before he retires.

Except it wasn’t. He signed another extension. That’s twice he’s cancelled retirement now.

One thing I’d just mention is that these two lads joined and - spoiler alert - became key players later on. Two hot young talent… and both from league 2 Oxford!

 
Pipi ended the season with 25 goals and 21 assists. He sits at 915 assists, needing 85 in five seasons to get to 1kc assists. Yet he looks like this:

Hopefully. I’m a few more seasons ahead now. Feels a bit weird this far in the save with one player and generally the same tactic. It’s just constant rebuilds.

Thanks James, appreciated. I said on @Scratch’s wonderful 3 x 1kc career that IMO tactics get you goals and assists as much as players. Literally everything goes through Pipi in the final third. His passes are no where near as much as others, but he just seems to hit the right areas.

Thanks. I did contemplate trying it with Foden at City but he’s just that little bit too old. Pipi being 16 was perfect.

This is mad. Look at him fgs. 1 pace, 1 stamina. How is he staying fit? Plus, his positioning is down to 4, so he generally doesn't know where he should be either. Crazy. Incredible contributions considering all of the above. 😄

Thanks. He tends to come off at 45-60 mins depending on condition. I find if I get him off at 80% he is fine. He will drop from from 80 to 60 very quickly. It’s weird. He is also really resilient and the most I’ve had with injuries is literally 1-2 months. Aside from his ‘wanting a new challenge’ I’ve also had no other ego problems. Basically, I’ve had a lot of luck along the way, but I think I’ve managed his game time well and substituted at the right time.

If he can continue on and get the 1k assists then what an achievement that would be.

I hope he does but regardless it’s fantastic anyway.

I think when it gets to 1 in attributes, that's comparing to other professional footballers. Like 1 stamina would be Ndombele at the end of last season, not some lads down the pub who wouldn't last 5 minutes on a pitch. 

 

I do find it bizarre that the mental stats decline so much with age as well. I guess FMM has incorporated the early onset dementia associated with heading a ball day-in day-out! Excellent work keeping that decrepit corpse scoring, @Rob

I imagine it's a bit of a struggle at this point, but if you can get him there it will be beyond epic, truly next level. There have been at least a couple of 1K assists (I know @smoggy90 has done it and I've done it), but to do it AND get 1K goals as well... LEGENDARY!!!

Poor old @BatiGoal must be rolling in his ... wait, where was I going with that, he's just MIA, but anyway, he wanted the 1K assists for a long time and now you're just rubbing his nose in it by doing it as an afterthought for your 1KC striker... 🤣

Seasons 25 and 26

With five seasons of contract left in the can for Pipi, you’d think 85 more assists for a 1kc assists would be easy, right?

Well season 25 consisted of me keeping my standard tactic and gave us 15 goals and 22 assists.

I then tweaked a role - switching from from run at defence to through-balls - and season 26 got the utter turd 19 goals and 32 assists. Yep, 32 assists.

This is pretty much playing him the first half of each game. Even when I have a week break between games he is still not playing many minutes as his recovery is turd. The only time he plays the full 90 is leading in to ITN breaks - which is something I lucked out on as I never knew Japan didn’t have an active ITN team.

He needs 31 assists in 3 contracted seasons. I don’t know if anyone else does this, but when I have a target I’m constantly recalculating how many more goals or assists are needed per season. So 10, and one 11, per season should be doable, right?
