Brilliant. Goals are now flying in. Have you adjusted your system or style at all, or is Pipi just that good now he's increasing his goal output? I love how consistent the assists are.

Exact same system. Don’t forget it’s the Portuguese league which is a bit easier than the main European. Thank you though - much appreciated.

Yeah. I get that but that sharp increase in goals recently had me curious. Helps having World class players around your target player, as well as being in a "lesser" league.

I found when he dropped to 15 with shooting he didn’t score as well. It’s still the same tactic. But what I will say is that I agree hugely on the effects of surrounding players, and also that I’m convinced you could put a turd in a tactic built for one player, surrounded by worldies, you will get excess goals that are the result of the tactic and not the actual player themselves.

Looking great mate. Almost there! Fantastic player and I'm so impressed you've gotten so many assists out of him in a position where he also scores that much. I've tentatively started a 1KC / Assists 1KC career using a striker and a winger, but if you keep going with this, you'll do that with one player...

It definitely looked like that as my players declined in my China save. 

I've often wondered about challenges using my (unfinished) scouting app. Ie: Your striker must have a maximum PA of 120 or something. Would be interesting to see how they'd go, if you limited the goal scorer like that - might try that sometime.

I think that would be interesting. It’s the sort of thing that really satisfies my intrigue, seeing what actually makes the game tick and how you can manipulate it.

Seasons 11 and 12

Season 11 involved a sad goodbye to Ederson but the introduction of my son. It’s the last you’ll hear about him, however, as he never turned in to much. Pipi grabbed another 48 goals and 50 assists.

The twelfth season took us to the 500/500 target. However, this happened...

Oh well. I had always planned to play this as much as I could so it then became a mission to keep him.

I am a little concerned for your son's safety however. "It’s the last you’ll hear about him". What exactly did you do to him! Just ban him from social media or something more permanent?

Thanks. Honestly, it’s such a rinse and repeat career that I can pretty much smash through it with my eyes closed.

Seasons 13 and 14

I had planned to write something dramatic about Pipi staying, but I had forgotten the screenshots. Anyway, he just randomly agreed another contract around Xmas season 13 and has seemed happy ever since. I have no idea why. Aside from that ‘wants another challenge’ I never once had any negative personality trait, which has really helped me enjoy this.

Now, as the assists were dropping a little my target became the 1kc goals, and I’m a fair few seasons ahead, so everything will now be posted (even more) minimalist.

Here is where we ended up at the end of season 14:

 

282 goals still needed for what would be a lovely little 1kc.

Seasons 15 and 16

In season 15 a regressing 31 year old Pipi hit four goals in a game, which shows how awful the league has become.

However it was season 16 when something horrible happened: Pipsqueak signed a contract to the end of 2040 and had the dreaded ‘planning to retire’ message. I basically had 4 seasons to grab 192 goals for my 1kc... or rely on having to talk him out of retiring AND hope he doesn’t turn awful.

That is awesome going rob and I think you can get that 1kc, if he signs a new contract at the end of this, I think you should try the 1k assists as well, would be some achievement that!

Seasons 17 and 18

By the time season 17 swung by I had pretty much completed another squad rebuild, where my youngsters had matured and we had a great squad.

This meant both seasons 17 and 18 had an increase in goals from season 16 as we were shredding teams to bits with movement. Even though Pipi was regressing..

...he still delivered and got us to 919 goals with two contracted seasons to get us to the magic 1kc goals. Assists are flagging behind with 770.

Haven't commented for a few seasons. Knew you'd smash this. Pretty mad jump in assists in season 16 but as you say, likely down to the quality of team you have.

Is there a reason he hasn't played for Japan?

Thanks. I’ve found the team construction really cyclical and I wish I’d have chartered which players I have had at what times in their prime for what seasons and then see what players corresponded to Pipi’s best years. As for Japan, I did keep an eye out for their ITN at the start in case I needed it for the goals, but then kinda gave up and the save became very, very, very click and continue to the point I could just rattle through. I hadn’t actually noticed he hasn’t played for them!

As for Japan I think I’m right in saying they are like Germany and don’t use real players which is why he won’t have been capped.
