Being off work is great. I'm flying through the seasons.

 

Season 5

Transfers:

Once again, the Coman bug is there. 😡

Raphinha didn't live up to my expectations so getting 95m for him was a no brainer. 

The legend of Alaba goes to PSG. He was getting on a bit but 50m was the most I could squeeze out of them.

Marseille came in with a bid for Zirkzee that was too good to refuse. He was just getting loaned out every season so made sense to cash in.

Calafiori is hopefully the answer to my Italian LM issue. BUT, he won't retrain as a LW. 😡 We'll keep an eye on how he gets on.

Needed a replacement for Alaba and Gvardiol was the choice.

A few other young Italians come in so we'll see how they progress.

Won the lot, again. I'm convinced this tactic is unbeatable now. We're always coming from behind to win without changing anything. Might be the players but I'd like to take credit for it anyway. 😁

Colombo had an injury free season but Salcedo was out for just over two months with various injuries.

The lads, especially Salcedo made up for poor International numbers last season. Just a shame Salcedo missed so many games as his score might have been brilliant. Ah well, not unhappy as 100 is the target every season and we beat that comfortably.

Some players are reaching 30 now so there could be quite a bit of movement coming in the next few seasons. I'm not strict on getting rid as soon as players hit 30 but I keep a close eye on their stats and any sign of decline and they'll be gone. Might be worth a little refresh anyway. These numbers don't seem to be hitting the heights I thought they would by now and maybe some fresh blood will give them a boost.

They really are awesome. I'm not too concerned if the numbers don't pick up massively as they're sharing the goals rather than one standing out above the other. 100+ goals between two players each season is still quite something.

I've completed another season and have started the next. I'll put the report up later on. I've had a couple of days flat out so the missus is expecting a bit of attention (and some housework done 🤦‍♂️). So I'll get that out the way and get back at it. 🤣

Wow, you are flying through this. Had it open in a tab and admittedly I was slow in getting around to it, but 5 seasons down and another one waiting to be written up - that's impressive! 

Nice choice of players. Never used Colombo but looking good (especially that 20 Aerial! 😄). I've used Salcedo quite a few times now, but normally as a backup. I do sort of want to use him for a main role some time, so I'm happy to see him get some love and a proper go at scoring a lot of goals!

Congrats on getting the ITN job so early - that will be massive.

Anyway, things are going along really nicely, keep on crushing it!

The missus and my rents have ALWAYS told me I have a very addictive personality. I notice it myself too. Once I get going at something I enjoy then I commit to it fully. Plus, if I start something I want to see how it turns out as quickly as possible. It helps getting some time off work and both kids now back at school so I can simply chill out and blast through it.

The International job is key to the numbers creeping up and getting it so early was a game changer.

Another great season mate, well over 100! Very impressive in the league as well, 34 wins from 34! I imagine playing 4 fewer league games helps out with resting players, is it noticeable compared to trying something like this in a 38 game league? Obviously fewer games = fewer goals, but I wonder if the extra rest compensates somehow?

I'm not one for resting the key players. Right from the start, they play every single game (if not injured) then between 60 & 70 minutes they get hauled off, no matter what condition they are. It maybe handicaps me slightly as there are still goals in the games but I like my challenge players to start every game if possible. Even coming back from injuries I'll start them from 85% fitness upwards and take them off at half time. It seems to work for me. So, no matter what league or amount of games that strategy never changes. Its kinda why I have two top class starting 11's because the other 8 players (in a DT case, excluding GK usually) change for midweek league and European games.

My problem is that I aim to take them off when they get to 80%, but then often keep them on too long by accident, particularly if they haven't scored yet, which leaves them dead for the next game. To be honest mate. I haven't looked at the relationships on any save I've had this year. Maybe it's not as important as people think. On the other hand, maybe I'd be hitting record numbers if I did pay attention to it. 🤣

Only in the first season of this I got the slightly tired message for both Colombo and Salcedo. I can't say it hindered them though as one did great and the other OK when they both got the message. I'm not one for over thinking things. Maybe that helps me. 🤣

Coman is there again. 😡😡

This is where I've taken a bit of a risk. Three absolute rocks of the squad have moves on. Kimmich and Goretzka were 30, turning 31 this season and stats had started to drop. Fernandes is 30 too but his stats were still high, he just didn't contribute as much as I've seen him deliver on other people's saves. I wanted to freshen things up.

In come Camavinga, TAA and Odegaard. All three in their mid twenties so should be or about to be in their primes.

I've also added some potential superstars but they'll all be loaned out for now.

Clean sweep yet again. Leicester pushed us all the way to penalties in the Euro Super Cup. Other than that it was all quite comfortable.

Only one very minor injury a piece this season which I'm so pleased about.

A combination of less injuries and a few new faces seems to have done the trick. The best season yet from the lads. Delighted. We'll over half way there now.

Not much going on really. Let Musiala go as he was getting frustrated at the lack of opportunities. Understandable. Could only get £48m for him though.

I'm resigned to the fact that the lads are stuck between 50 & 70 club goals each every season. My tactic is no doubt brilliant for winning games and trophies but maybe not extravagant enough to really push for goals galore. I'm more than OK with that as the numbers are creeping up very nicely.

Over 150 between the two for the first time. Mainly due to a pretty much, injury free season. They're having a nice little battle between themselves.

Season 8

King Leroy (Sane) leaves the club. Been a massive contributor to the cause here. His Assists started to drop and he's always been a diva so I decided to replace him with Harvey Elliott. 

Had to let Nianzou go as he wasn't happy starting 30+ games a season 🙄. He becomes absolutely amazing, for anyone interested. I replaced him with a young English CB, Jubril Gard.

Pirola had been a starting CB since the very first season in my Italian eleven. I'd almost forgot to check some players, assuming they were all brilliant. I noticed a message when picking the Italian squad that there was concern that I'd picked him. I checked and he's really quite average. 🤣 I've retrained Calafiori as my left-sided CB and I'm giving one of my young Italians a go on the left wing.

Dropped points in the league for the first time in a while.

Pushed all the way by Barcelona in the Champions Cup final.

Every other season seems uneventful. Only qualifiers this season season so not much worth reporting.

They picked up an injury each this season. Only a few weeks but enough rob them both of a few games.

Looking at Colombo, you'd think he'd be superior to Salcedo. He looks like the ultimate striker. 20 on aerial, shooting, movement and strength. His pace is 16. He's an outstanding striker. But Salcedo is edging him every season overall. I'm not really concerned, it's just quite interesting. 😂

 

Colombo: 48 + 5 (International) = 53

Salcedo: 65 + 15 (International) = 80

Total: 133

Overall: 961

Season 9

We sold Coman to Valencia for the 8th season in a row. 🙄😡

TAA turned 30 and I just fancied a change. A young Chilean regen, Christopher Herrera replaced him.

Dan James is 31, nearly 32 so I wanted to give my young Italian a chance on the right wing. City's offer is good enough and James is declining.

Players:

Colombo stayed injury free but Salcedo picked up two injuries which totalled about a month missed. I rushed him back after the first injury and it drained his condition.

Colombo had a really slow start this season. He didn't score in the first twelve games of the season. There was no obvious reason for it either. He had no issues so I'm slightly befuddled. Happily, he hit overdrive later in the season and really caught up to Salcedo.

 

Colombo: 52 + 18 (International) = 70

Salcedo: 55 + 8 (International) = 63

Total: 133

Overall: 1094
