I'm not afraid to say the word rugby. I'm assuming you mean Union, @Albionic? I played Union for years and always wanted to get into League. I started off as a winger when I was younger. I was pretty swift across the ground. Morphed into a flanker towards the end of high school because I preferred getting a bit more of the ball and have always been quite physical. Ended up as a centre because my handling has always been my greatest asset, I think. This all prepared me well for ending up as a goalkeeper really. 🤣

I've been into everything. Our school got us involved in as much sport as possible. We had a male hockey team which competed regularly. I was a part of a local athletics team too. Focused on long distance running so my stamina was pretty good. Rugby and football are what gripped me though. I was always useful at both.

Now though, I couldn't run the length of myself. I blame beer. Started lifting weights as a stress reliever but that has stopped now due to gyms being shut and not owning any.

Yeah, only union here, played centre for most of the time, ended up on the wing a couple of times. Was getting to a high level then dislocated my thumb and missed the trial, then covid happened so who knows.
What events did you do in athletics? I was a high jumper and 400m runner myself

Oh, that sucks man. Hopefully you get another chance once this covid crap buggers off. I prefer Union but would have loved to try League. I played County level and was even invited to Welsh scouting camps but just never made the grade. I'm still quite proud of that considering the quality I saw there. Alan Wyn Jones played at one of them. James Hook too. Even at a young age, they were so much better than everyone else.

I was a specialist long distance runner. 800m occasionally. 1500m and the 3000m (they were supposed to be steeplechase but because of our age we weren't allowed to do it) but I had the most success in cross country. I placed 9th whilst running for Wales colleges in a national event. It was out of 73 so it was quite good.

I've let myself go completely now like but I'll always have fond memories of my teens and early 20's.

I'd like you to meet a very special player:

Mirza Colic who plays for SC Scarborough in Canada.

What's special about him? He's the only player in the game who is guaranteed to be at his full potential all the way until his retirement. You see his CA is 1, but his PA is also 1. So he's at his peak and he's going to stay there.

I holidayed through a year to make sure CA couldn't drop to 0, but he was still at 1 at the end of the year. He did lose one step of Stamina to age, but the rest of his attributes stayed the same.

So.. I'm just waiting for someone to use him in a career now! I mean the only CA1 PA1 player in the game has to be pretty special right?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to take on another challenge after recently completing my first on this site "The Deadly Duo" although I am struggling to decide. I was thinking a 1k Goal Challenge but was curious to know what sort of setup everyone tends to use when going for these sort of challenges. I was thinking an Advanced Forward or Poacher with good ariel attributes alongside the attributes required for them two roles. I then started to think about midfield which is where I was stuck, do you tend to use wingers and wingback? Advanced Playmakers? I am struggling to decide or is it purely trial and error? Thanks.

I think there is a few ways to go about it, but the main thing I would say is getting a striker trained on aerial and getting wingers and wing backs trained on crossing and get plenty of crosses in the box. With the midfield, don’t have too many playmakers, one is enough😁

Looks like something from the RPG save/event we tried to run 😂. I still think that idea has legs but it's sooo much work.

Anyway @Scratchsurely a simple challenge of getting him to a Champions League medal is on the cards?

Just trying to create a copy of Manchester City's 'strikerless' 4-3-3 formation, ive got the roles I want, but what are the best tips to keep possession? Averaging around 45-55% at the minute.

Shirt passing, slow tempo?

Narrow, short passing and slow tempo.

I use TM for my striker role. Wingers and Wing backs always work very well. My AP plays in the AMC position and I have two DLP in the CM position.

Thank you guys so sounds like a good Target Man and plenty of crosses should do the job, how would you guys go about doing this with say Moukoko? I would be interested to see how you would go about scoring alot with someone say like Gabriel Jesus who is not great in the air, would this just be more difficult due to his poor ariel attribute? Im guessing he couldnt perform well in the TM role!? I'm really enjoying learning the aspects of making a certain player shine as O find it quite easy to guide a team to success but slightly harder to focus one player.

Ive just ordered myself a new ipad. Has anyone played FMM on a tablet, or is touch the better option?

Yea I started a save not to long ago. Idk about newer iPads but the interface is a bit more pixelated. For me I have to get used to it but it’s nice as the gameplay is more like the 2d on pc.

I used Werner who didn’t have the best aerial so I put 2 AP behind him

Instead of the two wingers mate? Did you use him as an Advanced Forward?

I started with Manchester City, got some good crossers in and using him as a Target Man. I am training his ariel and so far its going well, I'm unsure whether this will be just a test or if I will continue and eventually post this on the forum. He has scored seven in seven so far which is good for his first season!

I play him as poacher. I found an AF seems to be going to the wing too much.

Thanks for the tips mate, this has really helped my thought process as was getting frustrated and stuck. It seems as though the most common combinations are:

AP, AP, P.

W, W, TM.

I am now sixteen games into my Liam Delap 1k Challenge and its going well. I'm curious to know what sort of numbers you have to score each season to get close?! He is on twenty one goals in all competitions so far this season however we still have alot of games to play. I think if I hit fifty this first season it stands me in good stead as he is nowhere near his prime!

Considering his age, if you can hit 56 goals every season until season 18, you should get 1, 008 goals in total

That is an awesome start mate, numbers like that before a player turn 20 are a plus. If he’s hitting that many now, with a better squad and him improving you’ll be hitting maybe not far off 100 if not 100 or more in 3/4 seasons. I’ll have a look back at my Ryan Edmonson 1k last year and try and figure out my average goals for you 😁

80 X 12 seasons = 960

That's always been my rough target as it leaves plenty of room. In that situation anything before they're 20 is basically free and you might get bonus years if they last longer than 32. Obviously that's missing 40 but that's typically covered by ITN at the minimum.

Admittedly I've not even attempted a 1kc in years so I dunno how viable that "plan" still is but it's always served me well and I've done more 1kc's than I can remember 😂

Thanks mate, yeah I figure with his stats still yet to hit anywhere near where I need them to be he is doing well. I must say I am at Manchester City and have overhauled the squad so to speak so he has good players around him but as this is my first 1k Challenge attempt I didn't want to push the boat out too far and start with someone like Leeds.

Thank you mate I really appreciate that! If I am right your plan is essentially a steady 80+ per Season from the age of 20-32? I think judging by his ability now and how many he is scoring, providing he stays fit that is viable and like you say I have three 'bonus' years from the age of seventeen to twenty and then potentially more if he lasts until his later thirties.

I'll probably post on here after the first season, see how I get on! I just recently completed my first challenge on here and really enjoyed it so think this could be my next venture!

That's correct

Say he scores 100 before he turns 20. That means you have 900 left

900/12 seasons (him being 32) = 75 per season.

Say he lasts until he's 35

900/15= 60

So 70-80 is the bench mark imo. Any season over that will impact them all or cover for any that don't hit that target and so on. The target is moving every season, a good season make mean you need to play less while a bad one might be covered up during his peak years etc

I think we are all fortunate that CR7 and Zlaten are still going strong. Due to that I think FM have tweaked things so players last a bit longer these days. A few years back the players looked pretty hideous by the age of 32/33.

I totally agree with this I think the decline age has his around 34-35ish now whereas it used to be alot lower.

True. I got de Ligt to be top class at 37 thankfully
