The French leagues usually loads up the most African players so that would be my guess but then I don’t know how many top players Gabon actually has.

Ive looked and you're right there are quite a few playing in France. Also Portugal, Belgium, Turkey and Greece.

Mario Lemina is also from Gabon.

Actually @samhardy would of known this but Didier N'dong is too.

Actually @samhardy would of known this but Didier N'dong is too.

Strange that Lemina isn’t in the DB with just England loaded.

I did try loading 4 nations when I was testing this idea which was England, USA, Argentina and Australia iirc but in the end I decided that 147 countries was plenty to be doing instead of I think about 180 with that combo.

Season 1 - Update 4

 

At first glance the results look good which they are but take a look at the Barca game and you will see we lost that one.

In fact we were in danger of throwing away our 4-0 lead from the first leg when we were 3 down at half time and then it was 4 not long into the 2nd half although I was able to breathe a sigh of relief when the linesmen ruled out that 4th goal and we then scored to make it 5-3 on aggregate.

In the league we won all but one game when we drew with Brighton but the trouble is that Liverpool matched us result for result so we still stay behind them in the league. The gap in currently 4 points but we do have two games in hand for some reason so if we continue to win then the title would be ours.

The rate at which I completed nations has slowed down a bit with 7 ticked off in the ten games.

 

Match 41 v Watford

Another comfortable cup win over a Championship team although it wasn’t quite as successful for ticking of countries as the Coventry game was in the last update.

USA 🇺🇸- In 1867 the USA purchased Alsaka from Russia for $7.2m which is roughly $132m in today’s money - Erik Palmer-Brown ✅

Ghana 🇬🇭- The name Ghana means Warrior King - Jordan Ayew ✅

 

Match 44 v Arsenal

Beating Arsenal only 1 nil these days isn’t exactly much of an achievement but at least I completed Serbia. I then completely forgot I completed Serbia and played another Serbian in games till he scored and I checked my spreadsheet to see I had already done that country 🤦‍♂️

 

Serbia 🇷🇸- The words Paprika and Vampire are both said to have originated in Serbia - Slobodan Tedić ✅

 

Match 45 v Zenit

This was a nice favourable draw after Barcelona and after winning the first leg 1-0 we went through to the semi’s with a 3-0 aggregate win here and two more nations completed. Both the lads that scored had been brought back from loans away from the club and promoted to the first team in order to hopefully score a goal.

Japan 🇯🇵- The Shinjuku train station in Tokyo is the busiest in the world with 3.5m passengers a day passing through there - Kô Itakura ✅

 

Netherlands 🇳🇱- 17% of the land that makes up the Netherlands has been reclaimed from the sea - Jayden Braaf ✅

 

 

Match 46 v Leeds

We booked a place in the FA Cup final with a comfortable win over Leeds thanks in part to a goal from Yangel Herrera.

 

Venezuela 🇻🇪- Venezuela is home to Cabybara which are the worlds largest rodent - Yangel Herrera ✅

 

 

Match 47 v WBA

A nice easy win completed this batch of games and this is the match when my other Serbian scored and I thought I had completed that country despite having done so a few matches before and actually promoting Stevanovic to the squad in place of Tedic.

 

Lithuania 🇱🇹- Lithuania is home to the oldest tree in Europe The Stelmužė Oak which is thought to be at between 1500 and 2000 years old - Vytas Gaspuitis ✅

 Season 1 - Part 5

 

Having had an 8 point lead at one point Liverpool capitulated in the league and in the end I won the title with 2 games to spare which was handy as it meant I used the last two games to try and get some extra players in the team to complete there nations. That was some what successful as despite a loss and a draw I did get one country completed in that game.

We lost the FA Cup final on penalties to @Mr Tree Bee’s as we simply couldn’t score for love nor money in that game.

We did win the Champions League though beating Atletico in the final.

The rate of progress drastically dropped in these final 10 games as I was trying to get some proper shitters to score before the end of the season so I could get rid of them instead of buying a load of new players. In the end I only completed 3 more countries.

 

Match 54 v West Ham

This match won us the title although we didn’t score till into the final 10 minutes of the game when Welsh midfielder Matt Smith scored to complete Wales as well as win us the league.

 

Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿- Despite Wales’ reputation of loving sheep they don’t have the most sheep per person in the world with Mongolia taking that crown with over 7000 sheep per person - Matt Smith ✅

 

 

Match 57 v Burnley

This was a very dull end of season game where I had a lot of dodgy players in the team in the hope a couple would score. In the end young Scottish midfielder Josh Adam’s did score so it wasn’t a complete waste of a game.

Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿- Despite being synonymous with Scotland bagpipes weren’t invented there but were instead likely introduced to the country by the Romans - Josh Adam’s ✅

 

Match 58 v Atletico Madrid

I played a strong team in this game although there was still 4 players in there that I wanted to score to tick off there countries in Muskwe, Ravel, Zinchencko and Sangaré.

 

Ravel then came off and was replaced by Saint Lucian defender Donacien who completed the scoring with 8 minutes left on the clock.

Preseason before season 2 is very interesting as I wade through the squad trying to get rid of a lot of shite and replace it with probably more shite.

Season 2 - Part 1

 

The summer was busy as I brought in a new batch of players to complete nations as well as a couple of additions to the squad that can hopefully make us better as a team with Koulibaly and Pulgar.

Just the 6 games played in this update as we started well in terms of results and with ticking off countries.

Match 60 v Brentford

The Bee’s had beaten us in the FA Cup final and we exacted some revenge in the Community Shield with a 3-0 win but just 1 nation ticked off in those goals.

Cameroon 🇨🇲- The 6th wettest place on Earth is found in Cameroon. The area of Debundscha gets 10,300mm of rainfall a year - Karl Toko Ekambi ✅

 

Match 61 v Man Utd

The league campaign started with a draw at home to Man Utd and a debut goal (in probably his only appearance) for Adamyn.

 

Armenia 🇦🇲- Due to numerous wars there are more people of Armenian descent living outside Armenia (approx 5.6m) than in the country itself (approx 3m). Cher, Andre Agassi, Serj Tankian from System of a Down and the Kardashians can all claim Armenian heritage - Sardis Adamyan ✅

 

 

Match 62 v AZ

The European Super Cup proved very profitable as three nations were completed on our way to winning the trophy.

 

Uruguay 🇺🇾- The Uruguayan national team has won the most Copa America’s in the tournament history with 15 wins and along with 2 world cups and 2 Olympic golds they are one of the most successful football nations in the world and probably the most successful based on there small population - Abel Hernandez ✅

 

Zimbabwe 🇿🇼- The largest man made lake in the world is in Zimbabwe and is called Lake Kariba -  Admiral Muskwe ✅

 

Australia 🇦🇺- The Australian Alps in New South Wales and Victoria get more snowfall every year than the Swiss Alps do - Martin Boyle ✅

 

Match 63 v West Ham

This wasn’t exactly a great performance but we got the job done with 3 points and the added bonus of completing Canada.

 

Canada 🇨🇦- Canada could have the largest island that is within an island on Lake Victoria which is in the Arctic. This can’t be completely confirmed though as it’s likely no one has ever set foot on it due to it remote location - Liam Miller ✅

 

Match 64 v Southampton

We really had to work for this win as the Saints took the lead and then when we finally got in front they found an equaliser before a penalty got us the 3 points in the end.

Austria 🇦🇹- The Austrian flag is one of the oldest in the world having first been recorded as to have been used in 1230 - Michael Gregoritsch ✅

 

Liberia 🇱🇷- Former AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea and Man City striker George Weah is the current president of the Liberia - Mohammed Sangaré ✅

 

Match 65 v Sheffield Utd

We simply can’t blitz anyone at the moment but we are at least winning these tight matches and it doesn’t help that the front line isn’t exactly world class.

Chile 🇨🇱- The Atacama Desert is the only desert to be drier than the Polar Deserts and parts of it are thought to have never had any rainfall - Erick Pulgar ✅

It’s looking unlikely that I will manage to complete all 147 countries in 147 or less games although I’m not far off the 1 nation per match ratio so it’s not impossible and I might not be far off. I do have some terrible players that need a goal though and that could slow things down.

Season 2 - Part 2

 

The rate has slowed down again and games have become a grind as I try and get some of the shitters to score with mixed results.

This update covers 12 matches and there are 5 0-0 draws in that period as we are solid at the back but struggled to get goals for kind of obvious reasons. The narrow tactic hasn’t worked so well so I have brought in some width to the team in the hope that I can create more chances.

We are still well in the title race despite the dropped points we have had.

 

Our Champions League group looks very finely poised though at the half way stage.

 

Match 69 v Wolves

We progressed in the League Cup and ticked off two more nations on what was a good evenings work.

 

DR Congo 🇨🇩 - DR Congo isn’t actually a real Dr and is in fact a country in central Africa - Nicke Kabamba

 

Israel 🇮🇱-  Israel is the only country in the world to have more trees now than it did 50 years ago - Eran Zahavi

 

Match 72 v WBA

We left it late to get a point here and maintain our unbeaten start to the season and it was a goal from our only shot on target as well.

 

Iran 🇮🇷- The official language of Iran is Farsi and has been is use for over 2500 years - Kaveh Rezael

 

Match 73 v Leeds

We needed this win in the league after a spate of draws but again we simply didn’t create much in the match and on another day it would have probably been 0-0.

 

Norway 🇳🇴- The Aerosol spray can was invented in Norway by Erik Rotheim - Ole Erik Midtskogen

 

Match 74 v FC Midtjylland

This was more like it in terms of the result and even better one of the worst players I need to score cracked one in.

 

Guyana 🇬🇾- Guyana is the only nation in South America that has English as its official language - Anthony Jeffery

 

Match 77 v Watford

The update ends with another fine performance and a comprehensive win which is hopefully a sign of things to come after all those draws.

 

Ukraine 🇺🇦- The capital of Ukraine is Kyiv but the Chicken Kyiv isn’t from Kyiv and was probably invented in France before being given its current name by restaurants in New York - Olexandr Zinchenko

 

Burkina Faso 🇧🇫- The name Burkina Faso translates as “Land of honest men” - Bertrand Traoré

Season 2 Part 3

There was another upturn in results during this period as we turned some of those draws we had previously into narrow wins. We did lose our first game though to title rivals Liverpool meaning that we are sitting down in 3rd in the table 4pts off top but with a game in hand.

 

We won our CL group.

 

You can also see we played the WCC and won that with a penalty shootout win over Mexican side America.

 

 

Match 81 v Roma

This was an excellent win and for some reason we tend to play better in Europe so far than we do in the PL.

 

Uganda 🇺🇬- Uganda is where the Nile has its source or to be more specific the White Nile which joins the Blue Nile in Sudan - Uche Ikpeaku

 

Senegal 🇸🇳- Senegal will host the Youth Olympics in 2022 making it the first African nation to host any of the Olympic Games - Kalidou Koulibaly

 

Match 82 v Wolves

We won this game thanks to taking our chances compared to Wolves who simple weren’t as clinical as us.

 

Togo 🇹🇬- Voodoo is a major belief in Togo with over half the population practicing it or other similar local religions - Ihlas Bebou

 

Match 83 v Everton

No clear cut chances but still three goals scored in this comprehensive win which saw a couple of countries ticked off.

 

Syria 🇸🇾- The capital of Syria is Damascus and its one of the oldest continuously populated city in the world with records going back to the 15th century BC - Omar Al-Soma

 

Azerbaijan 🇦🇿- Azerbaijan is literally the land of fire as there is a continuous fire burning on a hillside in the country which is fed by natural gas reserves - Renat Dadashov

 

Match 85 v Atletico Madrid

This game saw one of the worst players I will have to use in this save get a goal and it’s about time as he was trying all last season as well.

 

Fiji 🇫🇯- Fiji is made up of over 300 islands but most of the population live on just two, Viti Levu and Vanua Livu - Peter Ravai

 

Match 86 v Okayama

It took extra time but we got the job done in this WCC semi. Although I completed Belarus I was annoyed that the GK who is the only player from Hong Kong on the DB missed a penalty.

 

Belarus 🇧🇾- Belarusians love the humble potato as they eat the more of them per person, 180kg on average a year, than any other country - Vitaliy Lisakovich

 

Match 87 v America

This match went to penalties after we were unable to break them down over 120 minutes. I have decided to count the goals as completing the countries as the guys had to put the ball in the back of the net, it’s a competitive game and they are both pretty shite so why not.

 

 

Afghanistan 🇦🇫- Afghanistan’s national sport is Buzkashi which involves riders on horseback competing to grab a goat carcass and get it to the other teams scoring circle - Nadiem Haydary

 

Albania 🇦🇱- Albania has approximately 173000 fortified bunkers built by former dictator Enver Hoxha who was paranoid the country would be invaded - Albi Skendi

I probably should know him, but honestly I don't follow the ITN team as much as I used to. Turns out he's a Scottish/Australian playing for Hibs! Anyway, great going all round!

Season 2 - Part 4

Not too many games played in this update because I got a good number of nations completed during these games.

We were knocked out of the League Cup by Spurs but in the League the form is good despite a frustrating draw with Burnley at the end. That league form sees us just behind Liverpool by 3pts with a game in hand so we are well in the title race.

 

Match 89 v Leicester

1 nil to city seems to be becoming a habit which is ok as a wins a win and so long as I complete a nation with the goal then thats ok as well.

 

Barbados 🇧🇧- Rum originated on Barbados and there are more than 1500 rum shops on the island and even more distilleries - Hallam Hope

 

Match 91 v Sunderland

I would have liked to get a few more goals against Championship Sunderland but the goals we did get were both new nations completed and we march on in the competition as well.

 

Bermuda 🇧🇲- Bermuda is made up of a number of small islands and it doesn’t matter which one you are on as they are all so small you will never be more than a mile from the sea - Nahki Wells

 

Bulgaria 🇧🇬- Bulgaria is the oldest country in Europe having been established in 681AD by Khan Asparuh - Slavi Spasov

 

Match 93 v Southampton

A nice comprehensive win for once where I didn’t need to be worried towards the end of the game that the opposition might get back into the game.

Bolivia 🇧🇴- Much of Bolivia is mountainous and it boasts the highest capital city in the world and the highest Irish Pub as well - Marcelo Moreno

 

Bosnia 🇧🇦- The capital of Bosnia is Sarajevo and its where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated which was one of the triggers for the First World War - Kenan Kodro

 

Match 94 v Sheffield Utd

Unprecedented scenes in this save as we scored 6 goals in 2 games!

 

British Virgin Islands 🇻🇬- Over half of the territories income comes from offshore financial services because of the islands status as a tax haven - Jerry Wiltshire

 

Gambia 🇬🇲- Gambia is Africa’s smallest nation that isn’t an island - Saikou Janneh

 

Match 95 v Burnley

The result of this game was annoying but the goalscorer wasn’t as it’s a lad that’s been at the club since the beginning of last season but had yet to score.

 

Iraq 🇮🇶- Writing was first developed by the Sumerians in the land that is now Iraq - Cardo Siddik
