The "Real" Best Form Of Attack 

Welcome to my attempt of @FuddledFox's Defense is the Best Form of Attack challenge, with the primary target to have the 4 defenders to score more than they concede.

I'm going to use Real Madrid in my challenge attempt.

But why Real? Because they've got this man, Sergio Ramos!

An expert in both free-kick and penalty. There's just no reason not to use him.

The second member in my attacking back 4 will be none other than Raphael Varane. I'm tempted to use Kristoffer Ajer who's known to be good in scoring, but since it's Real Madrid, Varane might be a good choice.

Nothing spectacular in him, but I'm hoping he can get a few header goals from corners.

The 3rd player will be one of my favorite RB in the game, Joao Cancelo! He's great in assisting in my other saves, but is he good enough in scoring? He was retrained into the RB position, and completed retraining just before the first league game (12th September).

The 4th player will be someone used to be a left winger, Alphonso Davies! Let's hope his experience playing as a left winger and his insane pace will help him getting a few goals.

 

The Tactic

I'm using a strikerless tactic, one I've been using in my other save and had been very good in defending. Only changes to my original tactic is that the LWB and RWB are moved down to LB and RB to fit in the challenge. The LWB and RWB got a decent amount of goals in the original tactic so I'm hoping that the LB and RB can get a few goals here as well.

 

 Transfers 

3 signings including the 2 main men, Cancelo and Davies as well as Neymar joining in for 30m + Karim Benzema.

September - November Update

We started the season with a 2 months injury to Joao Cancelo.

And this might be the reason, as I forget to check the Staff page before spending all my money in the market. Real Madrid only have 1 physio which is a Rehab physio. Had to wait till the January window to sell some players in order to hire some Prevention physios. Encounter lots of injuries during this period.

Score So Far : 6 - 4 = 2

5 goals scored by Sergio Ramos, most of them from freekicks. My strategy was to concede as few as possible and hope for Sergio Ramos to get the goals from freekicks and pens, and it's working well so far, let's hope for more in the next few months.

It really does, there's not even a single Bronze Prevention Physio in the market 😡

With one month left and 6 games to be played, the current score is 16 - 13 = 3. Still above benchmark but things could go wrong.

May : 6 League Games Played / 4 Goals Conceded / ?? Goals Scored

4 goals conceded which means that the 4 defenders had to score at least 2 goals to qualify for the leaderboard. Can they do it?

Thanks to goals from Ramos and Alphonso! 2 precious goals just enough to qualify for the leaderboard! 

 

Final Result

We were knocked out from UCL in the group stage as it was a tough group consisting of Man City, Lazio and Ajax, while I field my second lineup in those matches.

Sergio Ramos was no doubt the main men, scoring 14 goals out of the 18 league goals scored by the 4.

 

Final Score

League Goals Scored by Back 4 : 18

League Goals Conceded : 17

Final Score : 18 - 17 = 1

Just 1 more goal scored than conceded, barely enough to qualify for the leaderboard. Definitely a poor score. 😂

I think it’s a good effort mate, I think it’s a very tough challenge, so even just to get on the board is really good IMO. Good work 👍

It’s not the best but certainly a perfect score. I’d love to see a leaderboard with the score of 1. Well done 😂👍

At least you completed the challenge and I don’t see this ever being a challenge that produces really high scores as there’s only so many FK’s, penalties or corner goals you can get in a season.

Right, the room for improvement will mostly be conceding fewer goals, although you might be able to score 35ish.

Probably tring to concede fewer goals by playing a less offensive mentality, and maybe using someone with better headers since very few of the goals are scored from corners 😅
