Career Rob visits the Old Lady - Season 5 results

I like older ladies. I can’t help it. I like famous older ladies. I like famous, fabled older ladies who you could label a ten. So on that basis it makes complete and utter sense that I should be travelling to the old Lady with my Fabled Number Tens.

This is a simple challenge that lasts seven seasons in Turin. In a nutshell you have to use seven different players based on the nationalities of Juventus’ Fabled Number Tens.

On this journey I shall be taking a different older lady with me for each season. Think of it as my first holiday since Lockdown ended.

So my first player needs to be the modern day version of Liam Brady. I bet absolutely no one can guess who I am going to use…

Season 1 Selections

The first player to join the Old Lady of Turin needs to be Irish, so like pretty much anyone who has ever done this challenge before I’ve gone the obvious route:

Jazzy Jeff Hendrick gets bundled on the plane and will be attempting to grab as many goals and assists as possible.

But the most important question of all is ‘which older lady (50 and over) will be joining us?’

Susanna Reid is a broadcasting legend and, equally as importantly, Strictly Come Dancing finalist.

Breaking news and breaking hearts in equal measure, Susie will be hopefully helping deliver success in season one.

Season 1 Results

The first season started with myself and Ms Reid landing in Turin, nervous, and looking forward to seeing how Jazzy Jeff Hendrick would do.

He wasn’t the only bit of transfer business I did.

I don’t really like the Juventus squad, so some older players left and some familiar signings joined - Henrique, Arrascaeta, Villa, and Badji joining as transfers value bargains, with Goretzka my marquee signing.

We won the league, Italian Cup, and Italian Super Cup.

 

As for my two signings. Well, turns out Susanna Reid didn’t like the climate and muttered something about me being worse than Simon Jordan. Jeff Hendrick, however, looked like this at the end:

 

He has improved, but not spectacularly. he is, however, ‘good’ across the board.

He scored 36 goals and made 32 assists in 55 games.

This gives a total of 68 so far. A solid start in my book.

Basically the only reason I watch morning TV is to see Ms Reid so that's a great choice! As for the player. I'm in a state of shock that you can get so much out of a useless player.

Brilliant start. The calibre of player only goes up from here too so I'm expecting greatness. No pressure. 😁

What has annoyed me more than the wally placed beside her is the amount of complaints that are made about her showing too much of herself. Absolutely absurd! She's now wearing clothes that cover her up completely. These people need to take a long hard look at themselves!

There is a saying over here... "pressure is for tyre's" so, take what you will from that. Ha!
