Welcome Vibers. Today, I will be showing my majestic tactic used for months. Sharing its name with arguably the best player in history, Lionel Messi, this tactic also shares a lot of other similarities. It’s overpowered, it’s dangerous, it’s frustrating to play against and it’s massively consistent!

The idea came back when I was making the defender-less challenge. I found Trequartista and Wide Midfielder are extremely overpowered this year. Not only that, we’ve seen the like of @Ian and @Rob getting high numbers playing the Trequartista. Let’s get to the first part.

Formation and Roles

I know, too many playmakers you’d say. It’s for a very specific reason. The main reason is because I wanted build from the back. Deep Lying Playmaker alongside the Central Midfielder will bring the ball from the back to the middle of the pitch. The Advance Playmaker and Central Midfielder will either, bring the ball forward before giving it to the Deep Lying Forward and make the final pass towards the Trequartista or, pass it to the Wide Midfielder and cross it towards the forwards.

Nothing much to explain this one. Narrow so that we can get more safe passing options. Normal tempo to make sure we don’t lose the ball by moving too slow and don’t be too reckless with fast tempo and expressive creativity to play a fluid attacking football.

Defence Instructions

Not the most usual setup I think. The main reason for deep line and own half pressing is because we only play 2 central defender and no full back. Committed tackling is because I would like to win the ball more aggressively while not playing high pressing.

I turned on shoot on sight due to the Trequartista sometimes receive the ball outside of the penalty box so I would like him to be the main scorer, thus shoot on sight will make him do more long shots.

Mixed passing to make us look rather unpredictable and the same with goalkeeper distributions.

Results

The main objective of La Pulga is to make Trequartista scoring goals and not to win games so don’t blame me if you’re losing.

My current favourite formation is this shape with some common features and some fairly significant differences! I've been planning to tinker with the instructions so this gives me plenty to think about! Thanks for sharing 👍

Seems like a fun tactic! What attributes do you recommend for the WM role? Like (defensive) wingers, wingbacks of more like central midfielders?

I often look for wingers with 10-13 tackling and positioning. For younger one I’d look for 8/9 too since it’s very much trainable. Stamina is important so 15+ for older and 12+ for younger preferably
