Tactics 4-3-3 GEGENPRESS

To start, this is not my system. So if it is yours I really appreciate for coming up with this system. The aim of this article is to share my experience with the tactic and may be help anyone who had any problems while using the tactic while getting new ideas on how to improve the system. The system has proven to be edition proof as I started using it since fmm20 and up to know it is still giving me awesome results.

How the tactic works

As for any football tactic you need 11 players. For the purpose of this article I will use my current Borussia Dortmund save.

During build up the goalkeeper plays short to the fullbacks. I don't why it happens but from the gk the next recipient is the fullback. Depending on how the opposition presses the full back will then involve the center backs. Therefore you need defenders who are good on the ball that's why I went for ball playing defenders. The fullbacks should also be good on the ball as a lot of the ball during the build up will be filtered to them. During in field possession the fullbacks overlap though sometimes one FB joins the midfield while the other offers width. However the FB who joins the midfield may make late runs to the box to finish a cross or the end of a clearance .On some occasions the fb the FB who provides the width may end up on the scoresheet should a good chance present itself.

The CMs may also lurk outside the box and you may end up getting goals from long shots

During the defensive phase the team falls to mid 4-3-3 block and during long moments of pressure the team will defend in a 4-3-3 low block. Due to the attacking nature of the team sometimes the team may over commit leaving the team vulnerable to counter attacks. Therefore i would highly recommend a solid GK who is good in traditional goalkeeping and one on ones as your defence is very likely to be opened up during matches and since you have good defenders on the ball maybe it will be better if you get a solid GK.

For set pieces I use the default tactics provided by the game. A problem I encounter with offensive corners is that you can be highly susceptible to counter attacks otherwise the default system is good.

For player training I use the intensive mode. Since this system may cause too many injuries a huge squad is needed should you end up on the wrong end of injuries in the season. Another observation is that this system can take time before your players adapt. So if you plan to use it mid season it could be a gamble however once the players adapt and you make good transfers..... the rest is trophies.
