Yes in the league you played FOUR vibe teams + only one AI / non-vibe team - that’s always harder.

Next month should be better for you / starting off with 2 non-vibe / bottom half teams.

@broodje kip - did you only use the “19-25” year old filter to draft players?

Have just noticed Sandwich Army only seem to have players who were this age at the point of the draft.

If so, as I only used the 30+ filter, it means we won’t be doing much transfer business with each other for some time!

For me, 19-25 are the best age because a lot of them, like Mbappe for example, have high starting CA and even higher PA. It would be good for 3-5 years careers

Interesting. For a player draft with human owners (PvP?), I was thinking:

• Ages <=21 = for a +10 year career
• Ages 19-25 = for a 5-10 year career (your choice)
• Ages 25-30 = for a 3-5 year career
• Ages 30+ = for a 1-3 year career (my choice)

Of course some people have a mix of ages. And of course it could be different if you’re doing your own save (not PvP).

25-30 can probably play 5-7 years while 30+ can play around 1-5 years. Depends on their age and longetivity but I guess they can play slightly longer

Update with the TOP 2 goal contributors for each team so far ...

 

• Lukaku is OFF THE SCALE (boosted by extra goals in the Europa League)
• Tadic is OFF THE SCALE (boosted by extra assists in the domestic cups)
• Edouard is OFF THE SCALE with a <6.7 average rating.   
   
• Very few dominant assistors / creators.
• Ronaldo is highest average rating, Lukaku is highest scorer, + Tadic highest assistor across all competitions. 

Edit - Yes - some players have played more/less games. Maybe at the end of the season I’ll do a ‘goal contributions per game’ vs ‘draft cost $m’ version to show the bargains!

• Sané is the 2nd highest dot in red (17 goals + 6 assists = 23 total contributions)...
• ... but not in the top 12 goal scorers nor assistors in @Titjes’s player stats screenshots ... so I guess half (or more) of his goals are in the cups.

Note - I only mentioned the top / #1 in each category to make it easier for myself.

TOP CENTRE BACKS  

With a new contender for POTY - here’s an analysis of each CB’s average rating (how good they’ve been) vs # appearances (how long / consistent they’ve been good for).

Best Defender ?

Veteran Italian CB Bonnucci has easily the best performance of any CB so far.

• a 7.57 average rating over 28 games for @Kun Aguero / Kun’s army.
• plus he’s only scored 3 goals (+ no assists), so he’s getting these ratings through genuine strong defensive performances.
• Bonnuci is the rock in the league’s best defence - with only 11 goals conceded in the league!

However Kalulu has been Bonnuci’s defensive partner for around half of the teams games with a strong 7.4 average rating. However for the remaining games, defensive partner Gimenez has only got a 7.1 average rating. Does Kun need a new backup CB?

Most Stable Partnership

In an amazing feat of stability, @broodje kip’s Sandwich Army has 3 defenders + a GK with ~30 appearances each.

• typically Kimpemba (who has the lowest average rating of the three) plays as the DMC in front of Torres + Araujo.
• additionally, their GK Donnarumma has ALSO played 30 times.
• as a sign of how stable this partnership is, their backup CB (Ajer) has only played 5 times so far this season.

 

My Team

In a selfish view of my own team:

• Ramos has surprisingly not been the best performing CB so far.
• Instead the other 3 (red box) have been extremely consistent with average 7.2-7.4 ratings - even Alderweireld!
• The upcoming signing of Van Dijk (and loss of Ramos) will improve this defence, but not by a massive amount. Has @d e m a r a i got a great deal here?!

Worst Defenders 

As potential contenders for the seasons “wooden spoon” award...

... both @d e m a r a i‘s Upamecano + @leedsunited87’s N’Dicka both have average ratings below 6.4 having played 15 + 14 games respectively.

Do they need to be replaced?!

100% yes - am praising your team. You have the most stable defensive partnership (2 DCs) out of all the Vibe teams. Uniquely, your ‘alternative backup 4’ is just as stable (GK, 2CBs, DMC) - that’s a great thing for team cohesion.

This is especially impressive as you don’t even have the ‘heap injuries + morale’ rewards, AND you have all the extra games in Europe. 

Can you improve it though? You’ve leaked 27 league goals so far, the most in the top 8. While Torres has a great ~7.3 average rating, his partner Araujo only has ~6.9.

So perhaps a new starting CB is needed?Could be your focus if you win a cup + get your sponsorship (as great defenders are cheaper than great attackers).
