So, I had been thinking about a few new challenges to delight you all with, when I realized I could do something much more interesting, and that's what I did.

Therefore, allow me to introduce...

The Triplete Trials!

e92dc519c3c1d0000e5795e41f4c6df5.jpg

Basic Rules:

  1. Do not cheat (editing, HEX, changes.txt, reloading, whatever.)
  2. Any reputation lower than World Class is allowed.
  3. Any badge is allowed.
  4. No unlockables.
  5. No Myclub, etc.
  6. Load any leagues you want, but look below before choosing.

Trials Rules:

  1. You must never change club. You get fired, you lose.
  2. You cannot pick a club with finances rated as Rich or above at game start.

The trial's goal, obviously, is to complete the Trials by realizing a triplete (treble), thus winning the nation's top league, the national cup and the Champions League in the same season.

This will earn you points depending on when you manage to achieve the feat.
Doing it on the initial season will give you a +1 score, minus 1 point for any season after that.

For example, a completing the Trials in the second season means a 0 score, while one in the fifth would be a -3, and you'd get -19 if it took you twenty seasons.

Not very interesting so far, right?
Don't worry and keep reading.

In fact, the way this Trials works is that you are allowed to pick a number of additional quests that will be active for the whole Trials to make your run more interesting and give your score a major boost if you can fulfill their requirements.

You can choose as many quests as you want (just make sure they're compatible with each other), the points will add together unless explicitly stated.

For another example, a triplete in the fifth year gives you a score of -3, but doing it together with two quests worth 4 points each? That's a total +5 score for you!

Achieve a score +2 or higher to get on the leaderboard.
The highest score will earn the prestigious title of "Triplete Tamer", which means getting invited to all the cool parties.

Now, here's the quest list!

The "Starting Point" Quest:

Pick a club that does not have access to the Champions League groups stage (nor knockout stages if playing outside of Europe) at game start to gain points, based on the following list (only the higher bonus applies):

  • If you complete the Trials with a club that has access to the Champions League prelims or to the Europa League, +0.5 points.
  • If you complete the Trials with a club that doesn't but starts in the nation's top league, +1.5 points.
  • If you complete the Trials with a club that starts in the nation's second league, +3 points.
  • If you complete the Trials with a club that starts in the nation's third league, +4.5 points.
  • If you complete the Trials with a club that starts in the nation's fourth league, +6 points.
  • If you complete the Trials with a club that starts in the nation's fifth league, +7.5 points.

The "Amateur Hour" Quest:

Pick a club that starts off as semi-pro to earn +2.5 points, or pick an amateur one to earn +5 instead.

The "National Hero" Quest:

You are not allowed to field any player of a different nationality (see rules below) from the league you're playing in:

  1. For example, if you are playing in Spain, Spanish players only. Period.
  2. Foreign players, if present at the club, must be get rid of ASAP.
  3. If it's not possible to let some them go immediately, demote them to the reserve team and leave them there until you can.
  4. You must also never buy or loan foreign players.
  5. Players whose second nationality is your league's nationality are treated as foreign.
  6. Players of your nationality but with a second nationality are also treated as foreign.
    • Youth Academy players with a second nationality are an exception to this rule, and you can use them.
  7. Players with obviously foreign-sounding names are also treated as foreign.
  8. You can use foreign staff though.

Doing so, you will earn points depending on the nation you picked.

If starting in Europe:

  • England: +1 point.
  • France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal: +2 points.
  • Belgium, Netherlands, Scotland, Denmark: +4 points.
  • Poland, Turkey, Russia: +7 points.
  • Any other European league: +11 points.

If starting outside of Europe:

  • Argentina: +2 points.
  • China, USA, South Korea, Mexico: +3.5 points.
  • Australia, Canada: +5 points.

The "Barely Legal" Quest:

  • You must never field a player older than 18.
  • Also, all players aged 19+ must be sold, including the ones initially present at the club.
  • You can sell 19 year-olds for a profit, but those age 20 or above must be given away for free (or just let their contract expire, or whatever).
  • Of course, you cannot but players older than 18.

This quest is worth 4 points.

The "Forty Folly" Quest:

  • You must never field a player younger than 40.
  • Also, all players below age 33 initially present at the club must be sold.
  • You can also not but players younger than 33.

This quest is worth 8 points.

The "Glass Cannon" Quest:

  • Whenever a player receives an injury (either a match-stopping one or in training), he cannot be used for the rest of the season.
  • If it's a >2 months injury, you can never use that player again.

This quest is worth 2 points.

The "Red Roster" Quest:

  • You must only field players in positions they are not competent in (displayed as red).
  • The goalkeeper is an exception to this.

This quest is worth 5 points.

The Antinational Quest:

  • Sell any players who have played for their nation's team.
  • You must also not buy any players with international appearances.
  • When a player is called up for his national team the first time, you must not field him anymore since the start of the following month.

This quest is worth 3 points.

The "Lonely Leader" Quest:

  • Fire your starting staff and never hire any staff.
  • Not even retiring players.

This quest is worth 2 points.

The "Bargain Bin" Quest:

  • You must only buy players for less than one million EUR.
  • Player exchanges are allowed as long as the cash component is less than one million.

This quest is worth 1.5 points.

The "Freeware" Quest:

  • Sell your entire main squad.
    • The reserves can stay.
  • You are only allowed to bring in players as free transfers.

This quest is worth 4 points, and is incompatible with the "Bargain Bin" Quest.

This is pretty hard though😬😬

The point is that you can literally choose your own difficulty, just pick more or less quests depending on how brave you're feeling.

Wow nice idea!

One minor suggestion - to keep the spirit of what your suggesting, you should change the wording of the quote above to  something similar to “... access to the Champions League group stage (nor knockout stages in other regions) at game start.”

This is because the North American Champions League starts with the last 16 knockout stage at the game start.

My Idea: Select an MLS / USA team who in the North Am. Champions League (e.g. Portland).

  • Win the ‘Triplete’ in seasons 1-5 = worth between -3 to +1 point.
  • Win ‘National Hero’ quest with only USA nationals = worth 11 points
  • Optional = Win ‘Antinational Quest’ = worth 3 extra points.
  • Optional = Win ‘Bargain Bin’ Quest = worth 1.5 extra points.

If successful, this combination would win you between 8 to 12 points just on the Triplete + National Hero Quest. DOABLE.

Then there’s an extra 4.5 points possible with the two extra highly compatible / ‘optional’ quests. This is HARD.

Lastly, you could get an extra 1.5 points by picking a weaker MLS team, who are not in the North Am. Champions League. As you’ll be signing a new squad, this is DOABLE.

Question - would this 8-12 points idea qualify for the challenge?!

I did not add that because I meant the challenge to apply to the UEFA Champions League only, since other regions have far less challenging competition, to be fair.

That said, nothing wrong with attempting this with non-European clubs, it'd just require some rewording and a separate leaderboard, I'll work on it.

What does this mean? Foreign or not-foreign?

It means they're treated as foreign, I've edited for clarity.

Thanks.

You've got the right idea, except for the "National Hero" quest that would have a lower score.

I'll be editing the main post with rules for non-European Trials soon, thanks for the feedback.
