Challenges The Ralph Rangnick Challenge

Ralph Rangnick is probably the most influential figuere in the history of modern german football and one of the most influential figures of football in general. Few people can say they coined a tactical style virtually by themselves. Rinus Michels with Cruyff as a key player, brought Total Football to its maximum. Later, Cruyff and Pep through the likes of player Guardiola, Laudrup, Xavi and Iniesta, perfect Total Football and coined Tiki Taka. But this are names we are very much used to listen to, not so much can be said of Rangnick. 

Ralph doesn't get enough credit for all the credit his given to german football. Just take a look at all the coaches and managers he has influenced directly:

Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Klopp, Hasenhutl, and many others have been directly or indirectly influenced by this man who is credited for being one of the first modern directors of football (meaning he was among the first to get full control of every detail going on at a club) and one of the creators, if not THE one, of the now world famous Gegenpress played by his fellow german coaches. 

He had gone out of the radar for a while now but he is back under spotlight after being appointed las November as caretaker manager at Manchester United. He will be leading the Red Devils for the upcoming 6 months and will then remain at the club as a consulting/director figure for the next 2 years. 

Maybe his first 6 months are being very overrated, but it is also true that his next 2 years are being savagely underrated. He will most probably not win the league and maybe not other major trophy in just 6 months, but he will definitely redirection the red devil ship into a more possitive future, and, if given enough autonomy, will most surely bring back the days of glory to Manchester as director of football/consultant.

That being said, here is the simple challenge.

The Challenge

1. Load England

2. Choose Manchester United

3. You are not allowed any transfer in the first transfer window.

4. Play until december 2021, the challenge begins here.

Part 1

5. You have to set up your team in his trademark 4-2-2-2 formation or his less known 3-1-4-2 formation

6. He has had a lot of influence in the past in his coaches and assistants. For every member of the staff that has either 4-2-2-2 or 3-5-2 (if possible 3-1-4-2) formation as his prefered tactic, you will get 10 points. They have to remain in the club for 2.5 to win those points. 

7. You have 6 months in charge and may sign whoever you want in January. For this six months you will get

TotalPointsPart1 = (League points made from december to the end of the season) + (10 points for every extra round you play in the CL) + (35 points if you win the CL) + (10 points for every other trophy you win)

Part 2

1. From now on, you won't play any game.

2. You will only be allowed to simulate through the next 2 years.

3. Your only task as director of football will be to sign and sell players, and improve yout facilities if possible.

4. You can change your staff from Part1 point 6, but will loose the chance to get extra points. 

5. Your total points for this part of the challenge:

TotalPointsPart2 = (Total PL points made from August 2022 through August 2024) + (35 points for every PL trophy) + (10 points for each extra  round you play of the CL (grps to final)) + (35 points for each CL trophy) + (10 points for every other trophy) 

In the end:

TotalPoints = TotalPointsPart1 + TotalPointsPart2 + (10 points for every memeber of the coaching staff that fulfills point 6)
