Tactics Pep's 2021/22 Man City Replica

So i made one of these last year for Man City and it went quite well. I'm back at it again as Pep as tweaked his system again...

So the standard shape is 4-1-2-2-1 but in possession its more like a 2-3-2-3 and out of possession a  5-3-2.

The reason for the Shadow Striker is because until we get a false 9 role this was the best for dragging the defence out of position and allowing the midfield space to run into. I tried a deep lying forward but found he was taking far too many long shots. I also tried a Trequartista in both forward and midfield positions but  the team lacked the high press closing down and a Pressing Forward hardly took a shots at all. Also Pep uses De Bruyne as a Mezzala but again we don't have it so Roaming Playmaker was the best fit. 

This season Pep has kept a lot more width with the left IF very advanced and right FB wide while still using a right IWB to cover the midfield space left in behind the AP

If you're managing a mid table side I'd suggest changing the DLP to an Anchor for more defensive stability. 

The shape is very fluid with a lot of movement off the ball focusing on creating overloads on the left. Your IWB, RP and SS should have high stamina and youll also need quality cover for these positions due to the overload instructions tiring players 

The Defence is standard for high press. Make sure your Defence has pace or train them in it as the high line can be susceptible to balls over the top 

I kept the Final Third instructions minimal as i dont see the point in having expressive Creative Freedom and stifling it with specific instructions. It allows for much more fluidity while work into the box keeps long wild shots to a minimum.

These are some of my results i lost once, had two draws during the season and won every trophy.

To change club culture you need to sign players or train youngsters with the culture you want to achieve i.e. don't sign players with relaxed mentality or if youngsters have normal mentality have mentors with relentless, determined or ambitious mentor them depending upon the culture you want.

Thanks for sharing, gonna experiment it with Celtic following JJ Bull from Tito latest tactics video on their recent success. Can’t recall new manager name, but heard he used to manage club under city football group 😅

The key positions are the dlf and ss both must have high creativity  otherwise the movement and passing becomes a liability

You have very strong team. With bayern 5 games 1 win 2 loose 2 draw.

 

Need time to rebuild team and get stronger in every position. Every tactic will work when you have so strong team (

Ofc but im in 2024 so not starting positions 

Also it seems to take longer for team composition to take root so make at least 8 pre season games before you start a season

Last version. Its need specific team or time to build good team.

 

Now i start with leicester when i finish season i will upload results  

3 w -2d - 5L need other team )) in premier league only city liverpool must go well on this tactic. I will test with psg
