Hogwarts: Battle Of The Houses

Ladies and gentlemen, witches and wizards, brace yourself as we're diving into the wizarding world of Hogwarts!

Let me present to you, "Hogwarts: Battle Of The Houses", a game that combines FMM with the magical world of Harry Potter.

Before I start to bore you with all the rules and details, please accept your acceptance letter to Hogwarts below as I guide you into your 1st year at Hogwarts!

Houses

All participants will be grouped into 4 houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin) by the Sorting Hat (of course, you can asked to be sort into a particular house like how Harry did, the Sorting Hat might or might not consider your request).
That means this game will require some co-operation between players in the same houses, as you guide your house to the ultimate glory, that is the House Cup.

House Cup

Each in-game season (or year in this game), the 4 houses will compete to win the annual House Cup.
Before the game starts, each student enrolled need to purchase 4 essential equipments for their stay at Hogwarts (or in this game, players of course):
1. The 4 equipments/players are robes/Goalkeepers, pointed hat/Defenders, flying broom/Midfielders and probably the most important of all, wands/Attackers!
2. Each student will be given 200 Galleons/millions pound to start with.
3. The players selecting process will be similar to the one used in @Titjes's Draft League. There will be 4 draft rounds (1 for each position), students will be randomly ordered in each round and each will have 24 hours to pick the player.
Each school year/season, there will be some season targets that will award "House Points".
1. The targets will be something like this:
  1. Goalkeepers: Least Goals Conceded
  2. Defenders: Least Goals Conceded
  3. Midfielders: Most Goals + Assists
  4. Attackers: Most Hat-tricks
2. Season targets will be different each season.
3. There will be a Top 3 for each targets, and the houses which each player belongs to will be rewarded house points.
After each school year/season, the house with most House Points will be awarded the House Cup and crowned as the Winner Of The Year.

Updates

There will be an update every half-season, where I simulated the game and post results here.
Between each update, students can exchange/trade players, but each participant need to have 4 players (GK, Defenders, Midfielders and Attackers) after trading.
I will share the save file here, and anyone involved can download the save file and do their own analysis. I won't be using the IGE throughout the game, so everyone will be able to access the save.

Potions/Spells

There will be potions/spells available for purchase with Galleons. Each of them will have different uses, negative or positive. Here's some examples on how the potions/spells will be:
1. Polyjuice: Force swap a player with another student
2. Disarming Charm / Expelliarmus : Steal 50% 'goals' from another student (i.e when the season target is "Most goals scored by attacker", you can cast the Disarming Charm to steal the goals from the attacker of another student, let's say student A owns Mbappe who scored a total of 50 goals, once the spell is casted, your attacker goals count will increase by 25 (50% of 50), while Mbappe's goal count will decreased by 25.
There's more potions/spells but more will be revealed when the game starts.

Special Events

As in the novel, Harry Potter and his fellow friends will encounter different adventures each year, and that will also be implemented in this game.
There will be a Special Event each school year, which may include Quidditch, Chambers Of Secrets, Triwizard Tournament or even a fight against You-Know-Who.
More details will be revealed when the game starts.

Save File Details

I'll be using the Global Hyper Mega League created by @Pete123. Leagues loaded will be Argentina, England, Spain, USA and China. Currency will be UK Pound.
Only players in the First Division of the league can be selected. The list of clubs available are as follow:

Just leave a comment below to signup, you may mention which House you're interested in joining, and that might affect the Sorting Hat's decision.
Since students will be competing for the 4 houses, the number of participants should be a multiple of 4 (4,8,12...).
Signup will be open for 1 week (till 29th April), and may vary according to the number of signups. That is if we have 7 signups, we will have to wait for another to be able to start the game.
Please make sure you can actively involve in the game before signing up.

Attached below is the save file that will be used, download it and place it in the save file folder (Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022 Mobile/normal/games), make sure to change the filename to any available save slots (for example, if your save slot #3 is available, change it to fm_save3.fms).

CAUTION : Please backup your other save files before installing this save. It may not work and might affect your other saves, that's not confirmed yet, but I'll update this once I found out what's the problem.

I’ve found that the time to play mid/long term saves have disappeared since having kids … but the time to do Vibe games (where someone else simulates) is far less time consuming & hence has somewhat taken over.

I have moved the save to the right folder, but i don't see it in my game to load. What should I try?

I would also like to ask about the time frames for the competition. Will each segment be a season? And how long will we have IRL to play that? I would like to join but i need to be sure i have time.

If I can join, Hufflepuff would be the place.

It should work as long as it's in the right folder. Maybe try renaming the file name?

You don't actually need to play the game, it's a simulation game where you pick the players and I simulated the game. Sorry for not being clear bout that. 😅

You don't actually need to play the game, it's a simulation game where you pick the players and I simulated the game. Sorry for not being clear bout that. 😅

We'll, i got the save to show up, but both my save slots 3 and 4 can't be loaded now. I saved it as 4, but this is what I see now...

The Huddlestone save is my old #4, but 3 is totally gone. Good thing I hadn't posted the career yet!

Edit: I can see my save #3 when saving a file in game, but i can't access it to load

Edit 2: I had to delete the temporary saves and reinstall the game but we're back in action now.

That's weird, which version of the game are you using? Mine is the latest version, not sure whether it has anything to do, but just in case.

This could also be due to the difference in database, I installed the Mega League database in order to create the save, both this save and my other save with the original database work fine, so I guess the database won't affect save files, but I might be wrong.

Does anyone else manage to load the save file? And is there anyone kind enough to experiment it to let me know whether it works? To be safe, please backup your other saves before doing so. I'll add a reminder in OP, sorry for the troubles caused.

You don't need to load the save. It's just for you to check on what's going on in the save easier, I'll still post the necessary screenshots.

I'll only count goals conceded by the whole team. That means if you select a second/third choice GK in a club (for example Scott Carson in Man City), even though he didn't play a single game, the goals conceded by the team will still count. But that doesn't mean you can just go for the cheaper options like that, there might be season targets like "Games played in a season", so you might need to factor that in your player choice.

In that case, you will get some Galleons back as compensation (a fixed amount for every player regardless of their value), for you to purchase your replacement

Welcome to Diagon Alley!

It's finally time to purchase your essential equipments(players) for your stay at Hogwarts. Before you start wandering around Diagon Alley looking for your new wands or robes, please restrict yourself from going into Knockturn Alley as you won't want to bump into the shady witches and wizards lurking over there.

The player selection process will start with the attackers (ST, AML, AMC, AMR), the player need to have at least dark green in the position mentioned. Each of you will have a starting budget of 200 million pounds to purchase your 4 players. The 8 participants will be randomly ordered, each of you will be given 24 hours to make your decision, you can only pick your player after those ahead of you had picked their player. Note that you can only select players that play in the First Division of the Global Hyper Mega League. Below are all the available players, players on loan at a club that doesn't play in the first division aren't available.
