Off Topic All time Champions League 11?

BT Sport have been posting a few videos recently of ex-pros selecting their all-time footballing eleven from the Champions League era (1992/93 onwards). The teams have to be balanced - not one goalkeeper and ten strikers. It’s quite interesting as some like to pick using overall success as a key reason, whereas others just do it by perceived quality of players, whilst others do both.

So what would everyone on Vibe’s be? I’ll lob my first draft out there to start. I’m using Barcelona’s Pep team and tactic as my methodology and style of play.

 

Kahn

Alves, Nesta, Maldini, Roberto Carlos

Xavi, Makelele, Iniesta

Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho

Couple of notes:

- Kahn used to the scare the beejesus out of me when watching. He had such a good presence;

- I left out Zidane as he didn’t suit my methodology, even though he is in my top five players ever;

- I left out Henry cos he is rubbish;

- Ronaldinho was my favourite player for a period of time. A genius. I was watching a video the other day where EPL players said their favourite when growing up and 80% or so said him too!

- I have the most handsome central defence in history

 

So what is everyone else’s? Don’t comment on mine unless you post one yourself!

Alves Ramos Maldini Carlos

Xavi Seedorf Iniesta

Zidane

Messi Cristiano

Lahm could steal Alves or Seedorf spot, he didnt win as much as others but at some point was probably one of the best defenders in the world, amazing level.

I'm going to have to throw some left field players in mine based on what how they performed versus my expectations and avoid some obvious candidates who are no doubt better and higher achievers in the game

Del Piero Raul Inzaghi

So the controversial picks:

Neville - just consistent and rarely caught out

Marcelo - I always thought he would be a liability and he never was

Gerrard - more than once carried an average team

Kaka - on a couple of occasions just unplayable

Del Piero - should have been too weak or slow but was just too clever

Raul - played up front on his own at 17 and just never missed.

Inzaghi - who would you want the ball to drop to?

Love this and the thinking behind it. Not going to lie, I really considered Neville in mine too. Just an excellent solid player. If your team had ‘expressive’ selected it would have loads of movement.
