Help Players Occupying the Same Space

I’m currently trying to get a 5221 working with Sampdoria using Quagliarella as a CF and Gabbiadini as a SS but they always end up occupying the exact same position, especially in the box. Anyone else has this problem/come up with a solution? The idea is for the CF to kind of create space and drag defenders around for the SS who can either shoot or play a ball back for someone else in the area but they insist on overlapping.

You can see an example here. 27 is Quagliarella and underneath him you can just make out Gabbiadini. The RB should be able to play a nice ball to Gabbiadini at SS but instead he’s too central standing with the CF instead of looking to split the opposition CB’s

The main focus for SS is to gets into goalscoring positions while your team is attacking - so he's getting into a goalscoring position rather than making himself available for a direct pass.

You'll probably find he'll do this if you give him the Adv. Playmaker or Trequartista role, since the main focus of both is to find space and make themselves available for a pass.  I'd recommended trying out Trequartista first, since Gabbiadini's stats are better suited to that role

I’ve never tried out a Trequartista because I’m worried about losing the work rate off the ball that a good SS gives. How much of an issue is that when you use it?

I don't use it myself (I mainly use 4-3-3), but I've read other people on the forum say Trequartista is pretty powerful in this years version

The other option is to change the CF to an AF, who should have much more movement from the center into the channels
