CHOOSING THE CLUB

I had been struggling to find a club which interested me to manage with a tiny club in Wales fitting the bill. The club were founded in 1880 and have a modest history playing their football in North Wales. Would my FC Barcelona tactics work in the lower tiers of Welsh Football?

STADIUM &  FACILITIES

The infrastructure of the club is definitley Basic. The 1st team & Youth team facilities are Basic. The club has a modest stadium which holds 2,000 supporters but only gets approx 1,000 weekly.

STAFF, FINANCES & TRAINING

The training regime was delegated over to Assistant Manager Michael Ellis. The staff room was improved & filled up, with an extra Coach & Scout added to the ranks. The finances are down as INSECURE but we are spending £2.2k per month UNDER the overall wage budget which is excellent.

SQUAD

As you can guess with a squad of mine, Wholesale changes made to the squad in order to turn them into league winners. The players in were better in STAMINA, STRENGTH & PACE which has been identified as important for our system. The entire squad was released due to not being good enough for us to challenge, harsh but realistic.

TACTICS

I used my FC Barcelona 10/11 tactic for this career with Ruthin Town F.C. At this level, the tactic worked well but was fairly inconsistent. We drew or loss 45% of our matches & were poor in the cups against any better opposition. That said, we finish the league with the best Attack & Defence of the league.

THE RESULTS

The result of my season managing Ruthin Town F.C was successful, Winning the JD Cymru North! 🥳🥳🥳 We played poorly in the Cups & the league really went down to the last 2x matches, showing how close it really was. That said, the board wanted to get Mid-Table & we won the league by 6x points with the best defence,attack and goals conceeded which is incredible!!
