I can’t imagine the USA conceding many goals against Iran, Wales nor England. I can imagine one or two clean sheets.

• With Wales I can imagine a Bale free kick or a set piece header, so Wales vs USA could easily be a 1-0 either way. Can’t imagine a 4-3 thriller!

I understand mate. I just hope the Welsh players are as up for it as I am. They're making history and I hope they realise how much of a big deal it is for all of us who've never seen it before.

I just want to be competitive. I doubt we'll thrash anyone but I thought that in the 2016 Euro's when we ripped Russia apart and the 3-0 scoreline flattered them.

We set up quite defensively but Page has us pressing teams early rather than sitting back. The pace in the US attack scares me but I'm hopeful

When Bale smashes home a 89th minute overhead kick to make it 5-0 against the Americans, I think (hope?) pretty much all of England will be cheering along.

I’d love it if Wales (& Denmark) progressed really far and/or played fantastically well - even if it means I have to sub out my USA Fantasy team players for a couple of ‘backup Belgians’ 😂

Actually Group B is (depth wise) the strongest group in the tournament.

England 5th
USA 16th
Wales 19th
Iran 20th

Going by the rankings it’s the only group where all 4 sides are in the top 20.

Not sure on the rules of game days/scoring, but I figure I'll give it a shot. 

Couple questions:

Should I be doing anything with the power up yet? 

Is scoring every day or only each round of match days? 

Is there any reason to keep a little slush fund?

Going to swap keepers when Spain plays Germany, bring in Kostic after Brazil is out of the way. 

Wanted more Denmark players, partially because I'm not expecting much from Belgium this year, but their team is so fluid and balanced that it's tough to pick out a real star that they'll run play through. Maehle should be a great deal though.

France and Argentina starting off with some of the most lopsided matches makes for easy decisions elsewhere.

Great Questions. Here’s my opinion…

1. Use Power Uos Now? Maybe yes - you’ve got a power captain (treble points of your highest scoring player) + 12th man (any free player for 1 game). I couldn’t afford Mbappe so went for him as mu 12th man. In your position I’d go for the power captain, as both Messi + Mbappe have easy games. If either one scores - that’s 6-7 points trebles. If either scores two + an assist - that’s … er … 15 points trebled. Those front two won’t have an easier game all competition I think.
2. How often is scoring? Scoring is EVERY MATCH (I.e. 3-4 times a day). That’s why you can sub off players whove already played (with terrible points gained), and sub on your bench who haven’t played yet.
3. A little slush fund? Maybe, but probably not. Your only picking a squad for 3 games, as we all have unlimited transfers before the knockouts start. If you happen to have 0.5m-1.0m spare, then fine. But otherwise doesn’t seem that useful for the limited transfer available in the group rounds.

I wanted a Danish midfielder, so I was debating downgrading Di Maria to De Paul to allow me to switch one of the Ecuador midfielders to either Eriksen or Skov Olsen. I really wanted Di Maria, though, and I’m happy to have a little punt on the two from Ecuador in the opening match. I also preferred Morata over Martinez yesterday, but I decided to revert back to Martinez in the end.

We’ll just have to see how it goes.

Hey Dan, just thinking this through - what is the point of subs if scoring is done every match? Just to make you log in and fiddle with it more often?

I had to reread this bit in the rules a few times (urgh) … let’s take an example from your team:

• Imagine England lose 2-0 today, and your Trippier’s score for ‘match-day 1’ is minus one (-1).
• You can sub Trippier off for any of your outfield subs ‘who haven’t played in ‘match-day 1’ yet - e.g. sub on Neymar.
• That way, Trippiers’s -1 is no longer counted towards your teams total, but Neymar’s is counted.

Does that make sense? 🙂

That’s a good attitude to have. I may need to adopt it. My entire back line conceded 1-2 goals each last night (2xEng, 1xSen, 2xUSA) - and Captain Maguire didn’t score nor keep a clean sheet as I’d hoped.

Thankfully we have subs + you can change Captains 🙂 

Am not sure who @eugene17 is … but they have a commanding early lead - picking Van Dijk, Saka, Kane, Gakpo … with every other squad member still to play match one! Nice.

It seems there are a few transfer exploits, but I won’t be doing any of them as I can’t be bothered. It’s all going wrong for me here anyway, and I’ve messed up and made an unnecessary transfer. I’m guessing it’ll be too much to ask for Mbappé to produce here as well.

My plan was to keep Messi as captain if he produced two returns, and if not, I’d put the band on Neymar, but based on the fact that nearly every other decision I’ve made has gone wrong, I’m thinking of going for KDB instead.

Very happy with how it's going so far, although quite worried about losing 5 of the 6 bees for the next round.

I went with my wildcard last time, so I could’ve made some changes during the final game yesterday to prepare for this week, but I decided I didn't want to bother. I was pretty much unavailable anyway, as it happened. I had a look this morning and only had the two transfers, so I decided to take Hazard and Di Maria out for Eriksen and Musiala and just hope the majority of the rest would play.

A few haven’t played so far, but I can’t complain as I could still end up with 11 starters and I’ve had a few clean sheets. I’m confident Messi will start, and I’m hearing Mbappé will as well, but I’m very unsure about the two Brazilians.

I will just hope for the best.

Played loads of Fantasy games over the years but this is hands down the worst one I’ve ever played. The FIFA and UEFA games are usually spot on but this year they clearly can’t be bothered as it’s full of bugs, glitches, loopholes not to mention not even having the correct squads up until the day before and the site constantly going down when it gets close to kick off when people are wanting to make changes based on the lineups. Should have just let FPL run it least they would’ve done it properly.
