Career The Flying Dutchmen! [Triple Threat Attempt]

Heya Vibe community, welcome to my first attempt at the TT! I'm not really sure how successful this will be, but hopefully things go smoothly. Anyways, let's jump straight into it, here's the team I went with:

Screenshot_2022-11-26-00-58-10-12_771543261040f582078018e6d22ad0ed.thumb.jpg.8f5dc9d6d987f13a40a97136eacf767a.jpg

An extremely competitive team with a more-than-comfortable amount of money, it should hopefully provide the foundation for our lads to grow and smash in the goals. Also personal bias, I love how Ange brought in so many Japanese players during his tenure there, and of course we can't forget about the legend, the free kick GOAT himself, Shunsuke Nakamura. Hopefully some good Japanese regens come along so that I can continue the tradition.

Now, onto the crux of the challenge, the players themselves. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce to you:

682939784_Skye(S0)(3).thumb.jpg.0683ca50b2bcad4c710d9a51e858e702.jpg

Up first, Mr. Skye Vink! Clocking at 15 / 16 years old (isn't it already his birthday?), he's the youngest of the trio. Kinda average all round, though his 14 stamina is definitely a huge plus to start with, enabling him to play more hours. Definitely need to improve on that 9 shooting though.

1746672765_Julian(S0)(2).thumb.jpg.33fa65fac62facb7d909162d7bcb8e0c.jpg

Rijkhoff comes in as our second player, with already relatively decent stats! Call me a cheapskate, but a player with really good potential being free is ludicrous to turn down. I'm not sure if the 6 passing is something that needs improving, but I do think it's something to look into. Other than that, movement and maybe aerial should be the focus of his training.

Side note, I'm not sure why he's a free agent in-game, IRL he's actually playing for Dortmund. Does anyone know why this is the case?

689331844_BOGGY(S0)(2).thumb.jpg.1e9448496974eacf0f4fca5ec230f07d.jpg

The big lad himself, Tijn den Boggende, or as I like to call him (and probably will continue to call him for the rest of this challenge), Boggy, rounds out the front 3 of our strike force. With 13 aerial and strength, he'll be used as the middle forward to bully the opposing defense. Decent stats all around too, though his decisions and stamina (6! That's gonna be painful) definitely need some work done.

I'll be using this tactic to start things off:

1091259921_Tactics(S1)(1).thumb.jpg.2e2426c33d7ddd18ec8747656ff53daa.jpg

I'm not really sure how to explain this, to be honest. All I know is that it's worked quite well on a previous save, and I think that it could work for this current challenge. I am worried about the AMs potentially stealing goals from the strikers since they do shoot a fair bit, but I think I'll just give it a go anyways and tweak it accordingly.

I think that's about it for introductions! It's actually my first time trying any sort of challenge or doing any sort of career progression write-along, so please let me know what I can improve on. Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys enjoy as I go along this journey ^w^

Love the players. Rijkhoff turns into an absolute beast. Also used Vink on a small save and managed to get 16 Aerial by end of season one but then plateaued. Look forward to seeing how they perform for you!

Thanks man! Charged through the first season after putting this up actually, should have the synopsis out by the end of the week. Slight teaser:

So I may have rushed through Season 1 right after opening this post... at 3am. And I may have forgotten to grab some screenshots. Sorry about that y'all, I promise to be more thorough for the following seasons.

Anyways! To start things off, here are our transfers for our first season in charge:

IN: OUT:
S. Vink (Jong Ajax; £2.8M) Liel Abada (Freiburg, £21M)
Tijn den Boggende (Jong Utrecht; £1M) G. Giakoumakis (FC Twente; £5M)
J. Rijkhoff (Free Agent)
J. Cuenca (Villareal; £15.25M)
T. Nakai (Real Madrid Castilla; £5.25M)
Iker Alvarez (Villareal B; £3.6M)
Reinier (Real Madrid Castilla; £3.2M)
G. Rosas (Sporting Gijon; £1.2M)
F. Llorente (Free Agent)
C. Sanchez (Free Agent)
TOTAL EXPENDITURE: £32.3M TOTAL PROFITS: £26M

Not much to say about the players sold, we needed more funds and I sold the players I knew weren't going to be used.

God bless Spain and their cheap release clauses, I definitely milked them with half our signings coming from LaLiga. Llorente & Sanchez come in mostly to mentor the youngins, with Llorente becoming a substitute for Boggende as well. Speaking of him, Boggz arrives with a whopping 4 decisions instead of 9. 4! Hopefully that'll go up with time, but boy do we have our work cut out for us.

This is our main lineup, if anyone is curious:

929473555_Pinnacleofmaturity.thumb.jpg.7b49dcc107190477da0f85ef87812bdb.jpg

Very mature, I know. Also I moved the WBL/Rs back down to LB/Rs cause the defense seemed quite leaky at the start, which seemed to work. I'll try shifting them back to the wingback spot come next season, when I'm more confident and familiar with the team.

I'll quickly talk about the backroom staff before we move on to results, specifically the coaches. I'm not sure how much this will help with the growth of our trio, but I revamped the coaches so that it's 2 fitness and 3 attacking. If anyone knows more about this and training in general, I'll be more than glad to listen ^w^

Results:

146865567_S1Stats.thumb.jpg.e6a47cfd24c49bac8d7335c4e347e56b.jpg

Somehow we went invincible first time asking, with 28 wins and 10 draws. Needless to say we won the League. The triple was achieved as well, winning the Scottish & League Cup. We got absolutely demolished in the Champions and Europa League though, getting knocked out in the first stage both times.

Our 3 Dutchmen did better than expected in their first season together as well, with 57 goals between them. Rijkhoff absolutely popped off, with 32 goals coming from him alone. Boggende and Vink contribute with 13 and 12 goals respectively with an additional 10 assists from Boggy, making him joint top assister w/ Jota and Mooy. What surprised me was Llorente's 15 goals, starting only a small handful of games when Boggende was injured / jaded, otherwise only coming off the bench to replace him. I don't expect Llorente's goal tally to be anywhere near this next season, especially as Boggy improves his stamina and is able to play for longer, but I hope he's able to maintain the same standard that he has.

As for their overall growths:

1080870243_Skye(S1).thumb.jpg.bf566ffc8e2372df3055e39616580a6d.jpg

Quite a notable improvement all round, with a +1 in Dribbling, Decisions & Passing, +2 in Movement & Stamina, +3 in Aerial & Strength, and a large +4 in Pace & Shooting. Hopefully this level of growth keeps going into the next season! (Sorry for the bad SS BTW)

655752891_Julian(S1).thumb.jpg.60edb6b48c0287e2e810cada38c9bb34.jpg

Oddly for the League's top goalscorer, his stats didn't seem to grow as much as the rest. A +1 in Dribbling, Decisions & Strength, +2 in Pace & Stamina, and +3 in Movement. Not that it's bad by any means, I was just hoping for something more significant.

1957649130_BOGGY(S1).thumb.jpg.dbdf9a81afe7fa53644131ad610ba98d.jpg

Similar to Skye, Boggy saw quite a lot of growth. +1 in Pace, +2 in Passing & Shooting, +3 in Aerial, Decisions, Dribbling, Movement & Strength, and a scrumptious +4 in Stamina to round things off. Was injured around October / November for a month, but it didn't seem to stop him in the slightest.

GOAL TALLY: 57 / 1500

Well, that's the first season done and dusted! Definitely a decent start, hopefully we can keep the momentum. I might tweak the tactics come next season 'cause while it's alright for now, I think there's room for improvement. Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys enjoyed!

Good start for ones so young, in a team that’ll take a few seasons to get exactly as you want.

Oh absolutely, just finished playing thru the 2nd season actually! The team's slowly coming together, but without spoiling too much, it really felt like growing pains. I'll get the summary out ASAP, maybe even in a few hours but most likely tomorrow or the day after.

One season down, many more to go. Here's season 2!

To kick things off, here're the transfers:

Spoiler

278749239_Transfers(In).thumb.jpg.56719e4f64b0de4f1a9c23039218157e.jpg

1444747178_Transfers(Out).thumb.jpg.c329fdf7f473bd14083951c371af4561.jpg

Not much to say, except for one colossal blunder. I sold Rosas in the January transfer window because I felt his passing & crossing was inadequate. However, I made the mistake of selling him in the last week of the transfer window. I rushed to get a right back, but wasn't able to get him in before the deadline thanks to work permits (curse thee!). This left Juranovic as 1 out of 2 right backs left, with Gomez being the other right back and nowhere close to first team level. Things got even more diabolical when he got red-carded and Juranovic was out for a few weeks, forcing me to promote a regen from the 2nd team. At least he didn't make too many blunders, and actually played at a passable level. Thank you Colin Henderson, you may have been shit but you won't be forgotten... at least until your contract expires and you leave a free agent. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A brief segue into tactics, throughout the season I noticed our strikers were clustering up in the box without making runs. I changed them into PFs around March to see if that'll help, I also moved our L/RBs back up to WBL/Rs to provide more offensive power. It seems to work, so I'll stick with it and see what happens. Anyways, back to regularly scheduled programming!

Domestically, I'd say we performed quite well:

Spoiler

760826793_LeagueCupFinalChoke(1).thumb.jpg.4a3befe4656dc5f2bf873d476166677b.jpg

(This was the only SS I remembered to snag, asdfghjkl FFS)

May not have gone invincible, but we did beat our points tally from last season by 2, earning a bountiful 96. We also managed to score more goals, with a 107 of them against 2022/23's 88. We did concede more, but that ain't important at all, right? :3 We managed to win the Scottish cup again as well, but we ended up choking in the League Cup final and losing against our rivals Rangers in penalties, despite arguably playing a lot better that day. Oh well, the game's the game, I suppose. Quite literally as well, if you think about it... huh.

Moving onto continental competitions:

1253225406_EuropaCupFinal.thumb.jpg.57ade8ba7b8711976911392950f0ce20.jpg

Our Champions League group may not have been the worst, but it was nowhere near the kindest. We managed to eke out a 1-0 win against Juventus thanks to a Paul Pogba red card, but aside from that results were as expected, beating RB Salzburg both times but losing our other games.

This put us into the Europa League, where we went on a stunning run. Highlights include a 4-0 beating against Greek side AEK, a 4-1 victory against Frankfurt and a stunning resounding win against Inter in our second matchup, putting 3 past them and keeping a clean sheet after losing against them 2-3 in the first leg. Unfortunately, our opponent in the finals was Real Madrid, and to no one's surprise, we lost to them. Honestly I'm just surprised that the game was as close as it was. Overall, I'll say I was pleased with how we performed, though I hope to win some continental silverware next season.

As a side note: We lost Llorente, Mooy, and Sanchez to retirement this season, with Llorente and Sanchez becoming managers. Godspeed to the 2 of them, especially Llorente. You were by far and away our best substitute, and whenever the team needed you, you delivered... just one problem though. Why did you have to retire, THE DAY BEFORE OUR GAME AGAINST REAL MADRID?! I'm not about to pin the loss on him 'cause that'll just be unnecessarily spiteful, but I will say his presence was absolutely missed that day. Nevertheless, I wish him and Sanchez the best. Who knows, maybe I'll get to manage against them one day.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE:

670975852_EndOfSeasonSummary(1).thumb.jpg.ec3cd869721fac15aaa92f75d5365294.jpg

Now, for the juicy bit: How did our boys do this season? Well, I've got bad news. All 3 of them plateaued at one point; Skye & Boggende from the beginning of the season till November, Rijkhoff from January 'till around March. While I did expect this to occur, I'm still kinda bummed about it.

2097805710_Skye(S2).thumb.jpg.f69e4a4f9d55f61a468cb85b5da2f7da.jpg

+1 in Dribbling, Movement, Passing & Stamina, +2 in Decisions, Pace & Shooting, and a +3 in Strength. Not bad, I suppose. But his goal tally was definitely subpar, with a measly 17 goals. He somehow got 16 assists as well though, so maybe it ain't all bad? We'll just have to see how next season goes.

2141899809_Julian(S2).thumb.jpg.55dcc2c0f25b61ec6b8c7729628d964a.jpg

+1 in Dribbling, Pace, Stamina & Strength, +2 in Shooting, Decisions & Movement. Again our top goalscorer but with less goals than before, coming in short with 30 of 'em. Definitely expected a lot more out of him this season.

802873096_BOGGY(S2).thumb.jpg.7f1a6d28c8d34268cf723decccc4cc53.jpg

The most disappointing growth out of the 3, Boggende only saw a +1 in Movement, Stamina & Teamwork, and a +2 in Stamina. His goal tally was also lackluster with only 18 goals, though he was our club's top assister again with 19 of those bad boys. Maybe I shouldn't expect as many goals from him as I do from the other two?

OVERALL GOALS SCORED:

1500287550_S2Stats.thumb.jpg.d2d5512cb940f28b5e62e4041191dfdc.jpg

A total of 65 goals to add to the tally, bringing it up to 122 / 1500 total goals. It ain't bad, but I was aiming for a minimum of 75 this season. Guess we'll have to pick up the slack.

Anyways, that's season 2 wrapped up! I decided to try being more comprehensive for this write-up and inject a bit more of my own personal flair, let me know what you guys think! I'm slowly getting started on season 3, but work's been pretty overwhelming so I'm not sure if I'll get it out anytime soon. Definitely by the end of the week though, promise ^w^

Let's jump straight into it, shall we? SEASON 3 BABEYYYYY

Work permits have buggered off (finally), c'est la vie. Anyways, both windows were quite busy, but for different reasons. Summer was relatively standard, getting rid of deadwood and selling players that weren't good enough, and either bringing in players that were an improvement (i.e ready-made), or young ones with a lot of potential. The majority lay with the latter, with 4 of them coming in this window, and another 2 coming in during the winter. I won't go too in-depth about how they developed over the season, but I'll add some of the players' progression below if you guys want to check it out.

Winter was a bit of a blunder. Although we were dominating, the boys up front weren't getting the goals we needed, so I panicked and tried converting to a 1-2-2-2-3 formation (1CB, 2WBL/Rs, 2CMs, 2L/RWs, 3STs). I ended up selling Nakai, Ramon and Vickers as a result, which turned out to be a huge mistake when we eventually switched back to our 2-2-1-2-3. It left us without an extremely talented AM, and with another shortage, this time in the form of center-backs. Thankfully it didn't escalate to a Juranovic-level kind of catastrophe from last season, but I did occasionally have to play 1ATB when the center-backs took turns being jaded.

As a side-note, remember how I said I admired Postecoglou's tendency of bringing in Japanese players? I think I've unconsciously done the same but with the Dutch, setting aside the front 3 I think at least another 3 or 4 players are from there. At this rate the Celtic gift shop is gonna start selling stroopwafels... maybe I should bring in more Dutch players 👀

YOUNGSTERS:

Spoiler

IVAN AZON:

937073174_Azon(Before).thumb.jpg.7d8df26bde82e7d5fda6968bc699c2ad.jpg

402455922_Azon(After).thumb.jpg.cf05879532ff8063753a6add02b48489.jpg

Azon came in on a cheap release clause of £10.75M to replace the retiring Llorente. Not a lot of growth to see here, but honestly he already comes in pretty damn good. He'll prove to be a really valuable sub, alongside another incoming striker and his mentor, Weghorst.

MOUHAMADOU MBAYE:

956244613_Mbaye(Before).thumb.jpg.9110f06350eb6d9016f01ddce408d765.jpg

552324304_Mbaye(After).thumb.jpg.9cc0fdfdc5d83ce55d19c47dcc7e06a3.jpg

A regen left back, he didn't see much growth as well (apart from leadership and teamwork, thanks for the mentoring Juranovic), but I do think he's got potential. His crossing does need a lot of work though.

ALBERTO GARCIA PACHECO:

931558872_Pacheco(Before).thumb.jpg.3ca8778e3a0688929497d64011f8cfaf.jpg

1650379335_Pacheco(After).thumb.jpg.62bd04b42d355b7d128eaad892ebf7c4.jpg

Much more significant growth compared to the other two. Could easily be our first choice right back in about 2, 3 seasons? Maybe even by the end of S4, we'll have to see. BTW for those of you who know what the double / triple-dipping mentoring exploit is, it's even more broken this year. I managed to do it at least 4, 5 times with this guy with Juranovic and got rid of his lazy & unprofessional trait. Not sure if it affected the growth of his stats though. On top of that he still doesn't want to learn English; does anyone know if that affects anything at all?

OMAR PICHEL:

1714579862_Pichel(Before).thumb.jpg.64ee8a5fc771fdc5ea1e1dff887d2b33.jpg

2068188656_Pichel(After).thumb.jpg.0f8726ac88141347116a5fa9ade31cc8.jpg

I most definitely overpaid for him, but I think he'll pay off with enough time. Already looking pretty hot at 17, and he'll only continue to grow.

Not included is Aymen Sliti & Aaron Palanca 'cause they came in the winter transfer window and I was too busy fumbling the bag to remember to SS their stats, but I will say that Sliti is our 2nd choice left AM who's already quite good (initially bought him to play LW so his stats are still more orientated towards that), while Palanca is nowhere near first team quality but I think he'll grow into a star. I'll keep him in the reserves to fill in the gaps when one of our strikers inevitably get injured.

COMPETITIONS (OVERALL):

570172431_OverallPerformance.thumb.jpg.bb305165a9cab548ceb4c6d908efb41e.jpg

Definitely our best season as of yet. Absolute trashing of everything local, while getting to the Round of 16 in the CL. Low-key would have liked to have been knocked down to Europa Cup again to win it, but I ain't complaining.

DOMESTIC:

Spoiler

1258846571_LeagueCupW.thumb.jpg.0dd53b621176bba008809e4115d44f2b.jpg

1525488268_ScottishCupPOG.thumb.jpg.b2b0c5e104c4bc1db336729ac7d4d759.jpg

Not much to say honestly, but I will add that Rijkhoff won Top Goalscorer for the third year running, and now I'm thinking it would be kinda funny and cool if he keeps winning it until either the challenge is complete or he retires.

CONTINENTAL:

Spoiler

673438655_BayernVictory.thumb.jpg.fc5b8e9942dfc83fd1cd2280bd4d4744.jpg

767322018_GettingFMed.thumb.jpg.9b07c3a6c81778d6236280590ed16d11.jpg

107369684_BarcaKickingUsOutOfCL.thumb.jpg.98ca4aabbe3ebff1251c57a0967418e0.jpg

Definitely more interesting than the domestic stuff. The two stand-out games happened in the league phase of the CL, where we got a shocking 4 - 3 victory over Bayern, and getting FM'ed hardcore in a 1 - 0 loss against Valencia. Apart from that, it was your pretty standard stuff, getting past the play off round and then getting tragically kicked out by Barcelona in the second leg, after holding them to a 3 - 3 draw at home in the first leg.

THE LADS:

As mentioned previously, they struggled for the large majority of the season, only really finding their bearings in the last two months of the campaign; I'm not sure how much of that is to blame on the tactics roulette mid-season in an effort to get them to score more, or just... them. Nevertheless, while they have yet to meet my objective of a 100-goals-total season, they are definitely getting there, doing better than their first two seasons.
550781432_Skye(S3).thumb.jpg.1f24de3569fbaf8539b049fca370b616.jpg

+1 in Aerial, Dribbling, & Passing; +2 in Decisions, Pace, Shooting & Strength; +3 in Movement; Definitely growing into the world-beater he's meant to be, and that 20 pace! Vink might just be shaping up to be Haaland 2.0.

846928848_Julian(S3).thumb.jpg.801fb780b5858199cf3e790880483e3d.jpg

+1 in Aerial, Decisions, & Strength; +2 in Movement, Pace, Shooting & Stamina. Not as much growth as Skye, but who am I to argue with the League's top goalscorer, three years running? As long as he can keep up the form next season, I'll be more than happy.

1136758576_BOGGY(S3).thumb.jpg.22e4feceba41ca927bbc3240f452bfe6.jpg

+1 in Decisions, Dribbling, Movement, Pace, Shooting & Stamina; a little bit of growth here and there from Boggy. I've decided to give up on improving his decisions for now and focus on training his stamina so that I don't have to sub him off by half-time to prevent him being jaded, let's see if that helps any.

GOAL TALLY:

1694998164_GoalTally.thumb.jpg.84246cfaad18a4a32eb83d3162217d8e.jpg

83 goals this time 'round for our Dutch boys, bringing the tally up to 205 / 1500 goals. We may be quite off the pace at the moment, but I do think we're finally getting up to speed.

That's S3 completed, hope you guys enjoyed! Sorry if this is a bit messy / rushed, I'm currently packing for my vacation and just wanted to get this out before I go MIA for about a week. That being said, I'll try to get at least two seasons finished to compensate for the incoming lack of updates. Have a good December guys, and take care ^w^

Thank you! Just a mini-update for y'all, S4 & S5 are complete, and I'm about half-way through S6. Still on holiday though, I'll only be back next week so the write-ups will have to wait a bit more. Promise that they'll be good though!

Alright, the boys are back for more. SEASON 4!!!

A huge influx of regen youth players this season, with the only exceptions being Kelleher and Cuyper. As for the outgoing transfers, Sylla leaves on a massive £46M fee to Milan. Didn't really want to let him go, but with that kind of money and La Mantia coming in with nearly the same quality, it was hard to turn down. Shout-out to Iker as well, he's been our man between the sticks since day 1, but sadly he didn't grow into the potential projected for him. With better goalies coming in as well I didn't want him to rot on the bench, so I made the tough decision to sell him. Godspeed our Andorran legend, may you have a fruitful career ahead.

COMPETITIONS (OVERALL):

One step forward, one step back. We may not have won all our domestic competitions, but we made it to the Champions League final. Almost getting there!

Not really sure why the League Cup is called the Sports Cup this time round, I haven't seen this in any other season thus far. Anyways! The League Cup was disappointing, losing out on penalties. Maybe if we had put more shots on target it would have wounded up differently, but alas. All we can do now is follow in Luis Enrique's step... but that didn't help as well, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Scottish Cup on the other hand was just unfair, the opposing team was a league below us. Victory was never in doubt, and we asserted just how strong we are with a emphatic 4 - 0 victory, even knocking 3 by before half-time.

Spoiler

296190646_CLFinal.thumb.jpg.551cd2dd00fcc17cf03bf4511946b8c7.jpg

Sadly Inter gets their revenge from S2, beating us in the final and injuring two of our players, to add insult to injury. Nevertheless we still made it a lot further than last season, so despite not going all the way, it's something to be proud of.

THE LADS:

1422198636_Skye(S4).thumb.jpg.08b894aa615fbe977200d5c7dc29adca.jpg

+1 in Aerial, Dribbling, Passing, Stamina & Strength. Growth is definitely slowing down and I expect the boys to peak soon, so it's nice to see whatever growth there is left in them. Skye also stepped up this season, scoring 7 more than previously.

399521127_Julian(S4).thumb.jpg.6b56491a1d20f3c65204b2ad5b7768c0.jpg

Oddly enough, we see a -1 in Decisions. There's also a decline in overall performance, equalling Vink's goal tally and putting Julian 4 goals behind his previous season's performance. However, if I remember correctly he just recovered from injury when I took the screenshot, so it may not be the best representation of him. Still concerning, either way.

1620030655_BOGGY(S4).thumb.jpg.1323525f23c2f4bf7189052f27d29c1e.jpg

Boggy is by far and away the most outstanding player out of the 3 this season. +1 in Passing, Movement & Technique, +2 in Decisions, Dribbling, Shooting & Stamina, and a +3 in Strength. He also usurps Julian's "Top Goalscorer" title with a whopping 42 goals, 11 more than last season.

GOAL TALLY:
976853946_GoalTally.thumb.jpg.fb0a69cfe00928caba84a64ce0848a60.jpg

Still ain't a 100, but 98 is pretty damn close. This brings us up to 303 / 1500 goals, which is... I don't know, actually. I feel like it's off the pace but they're still pretty young and have at least >10 seasons in them, so maybe I'm overthinking things. Won't know without going all the way though, so let's keep the pressure on :3

Ohoho... we've got money now, boys.

Alright, that's S4 in the bag! Sorry for the hiatus guys, I'll try to get S5 out by Thursday, and S6 by Saturday. Admittedly I've got my hands full with NFS Unbound "work", but I do want to get these out as fast as possible. I think I've settled on a format as well for these write-ups, but I'm very much open to feedback. Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed, I'll see you very soon ^w^

SEASON 5!

TRANSFERS:

Spoiler

Transfers.thumb.jpg.f4d9b793fa3de3472bd06479697b4b90.jpg

With a hugeeeee transfer budget we most definitely balled out, with Bissouma & Onana coming in for a combined £72M. We also sign 2 youth players in the form of Ivan & Abed; Livramento comes in next season on a Bosman.

OUTSTANDING YOUNGSTERS:

Spoiler

Pochita.thumb.jpg.96766a8aeb136a30057deeeb39028899.jpg

That young right-back we signed in S3 has officially become one of, if not the best in his position. Absolutely insane stats across the board, and he's only 19! Definitely going to hold on to him for as long as I can.

924870653_RobertoCarlos2.0.thumb.jpg.d9e38775d4b12ca9dbd9e256c3ba9753.jpg

A left-back we signed last season, he's essentially turned into Roberto Carlos incarnate. Nothing special at free kicks unfortunately, but with those stats at just 20, I ain't complaining. Decisions could definitely use some work though.

559408686_CornerMachine.thumb.jpg.0e38bc9a0abeca10b8d3eed6e91452b0.jpg

And to round things off: I have essentially created a corner god. 20 Aerial, 18 Movement and 19 Strength. 10 Decisions is definitely a let down though, and his character ain't the best ("Lazy" & "Somewhat unprofessional"). Nevertheless, possibly the best super-sub I've had in all of my time playing FMM.

COMPETITIONS (OVERALL):

133452503_OverallPerformance(1).thumb.jpg.f3abc4f5057e5cd1b6a2f2d66091b43f.jpg

Heartbreak in the Scottish Cup and Champions League, but we absolutely obliterated the league, only drawing 1 and winning the rest.

DOMESTIC:

Spoiler

We won the damn League with 9 games to spare! Honestly an insane performance, I don't think I'll be topping that anytime soon. Other than that everything is pretty run of the mill, seems like the lads still aren't too great at penalties though.

CONTINENTAL:

Spoiler

957306010_RIPBarca.thumb.jpg.f3b4d62c5bf3752bc328d394780c74bb.jpg1191601161_PSGKnockingUsOutOfCL.thumb.jpg.c44d447dda4eb7ead2a1a3f7c9a6a7b4.jpg

Some of the spiciest games I've seen in a while. After losing 2 - 4 in our first match against Barcelona and the second game being barren of goals for a long time, it seemed like we were doomed until Azon opened the floodgates in the 72nd minute with a penalty. A shockingly emphatic 6 - 1 win to bring us to the quarter final, we had a close-fought war with PSG. 5 - 5 in the first leg, and an extremely tight second leg. Sadly, Pacheco getting sent off screwed us, opening up our defense and allowing PSG to claw back the lead and end the game 6 - 5, knocking us out.

THE GUYS:

1569490989_Skye(S5).thumb.jpg.9cbac0855ff218bd66149aa0230f031d.jpg

A peculiar -1 in Passing, but we also see a +1 in Movement & Shooting. I... guess that's alright? Honestly I think he's better off this way.

1027445124_Julian(S5).thumb.jpg.0940d1d90a893e5b5439650c9f246f2d.jpg

Last season's worries were rendered moot with Julian's +1 in Decisions, Movement, Shooting & Teamwork. Still got a little bit left to grow as well, so that's nice :3

1621549761_BOGGY(S5).thumb.jpg.1893d542ea3fecd6ca8b41dc80b7caac.jpg

A bit of growth for the big lad, with +1 in Decisions, Movement & Shooting. A stellar performance from him as well this season, with an average rating of 8.03.

GOAL TALLY:

1222999030_GoalTally(1).thumb.jpg.4817af65517b75ef3f93eb21053393c9.jpg

We finally break the 100 goals objective I've been aiming for, coming in at 114. Boggy absolutely went nuts, with a total of 64 goal contributions in 54 games. Julian and Vink also did quite well. This brings us to a total of 417 / 1500 goals thus far.

Had some free time today after work so I thought I'd get S5's write-up finished a bit earlier than planned. S6 is still on course to be done by Saturday, but I'll try to maybe push it through by Friday.

Chrome crashed when I was writing this the first time round, hence why it's arriving a bit late. Better late than never though; I give y'all (drumroll please): SEASON 6!!!

TACTICS:

I've been running the 2-2-1-2-3 (2BPDs, 2IWBs, 1CM, 2AMs, 3CFs) for a few seasons now, and while it was working perfectly fine... yeah, that's all it was, just fine. Adequate. I figured that tactically, it was time for a shake-up if I wanted to stand a chance of beating this challenge. I ended up with this to start off the season:

Spoiler

162985977_InitialStrat.thumb.jpg.34efc6dc58fcbae9d4f8e1f0d32dec6d.jpg

And it worked! ... well, for a while. Then the Fire Nation attacked update came along and ruined everyone's tactics, mine included. Cue a lot of messing about and not really making anything stick until I came across this tactic (shoutout @marwahqr), and tweaked it to fit what I wanted. It wound up looking a bit like this:

Spoiler

950825240_NewTacticPOG.thumb.jpg.aecfe66cab6d60e3af3639b7fa62b765.jpg

It seems to be working really well so far, but I only got about 5, 6 games in with it at the end of the season, which ain't conclusive. We'll just have to see in S7.

TRANSFERS:

Spoiler

203112562_Transfers(In)(2).thumb.jpg.dd1cc8caaa9791046763461baf45d7ba.jpg

239250773_Transfers(Out)(2).thumb.jpg.4d371a5e2b5a34a38d6bdb363159025a.jpg

With the conversion of our AMs to wingers (and eventually WMs), it meant that some of our players no longer fit our tactics. This meant that quite a few players had to go unfortunately, including Reinier who's been with us since S1. de Lima, Lincoln and Pichel also leave as a result (they can play on the wings but their crossing is subpar, i.e <15), and in return Altruy (regen), Arribas & Hlynsson come in to replace them. Altruy is definitely someone to keep an eye on, his stats are absolutely mental:

40452063_Tizzy(RMWunderkid).thumb.jpg.b58bd28aa64e4a2a6ea1597406985703.jpg

19 crossing at just 20! Not to mention 18 dribbling and 17 passing, the lad's gonna grow into an assist machine. Movement & teamwork does need training, not to mention I really want that 20 crossing, but I'll expect those to grow naturally over time.

In January, I also sold nearly our entire backline because... I don't remember honestly, I think at the time I thought the money offered was worth it. Cuenca, Demiral & La Mantia leave the club, with Florit (regen) & the Sutalo brothers coming in to replace them. Florit's great, but the Sutalos are just... fine. I definitely could have signed better center backs for less. In hindsight I should have kept La Mantia as well, since by the end of this season he seems to be growing into the best BPD in the world. Definitely another blunder to add to the several I've already committed.

We also made the tough decision to sell the God of corners, Palanca. He's superb on the pitch, but his character was a drain to our squad, dragging our morale & professionalism down to a nice cozy C. He seems to have moved to Man United... anyone getting a spot of deja vu? 👀

Despite going flawless, it's our worst League performance since S3. Understandable given the turbulent season that it was, but I still feel like we should have done better. Not much to say for the League & Scottish Cup, even more silverware to add to the cabinet I suppose.

COMPETITIONS (CONTINENTAL):

Spoiler

1653332664_RIPCLFinal.thumb.jpg.167c3dd76d12695e08794248fc0f0802.jpg

We once again lost it at the cusp of sweet victory, this time at the hands of Liverpool. Shame, we actually played quite well (and had a whopping 12 corners) but that's how the cookie crumbles, I suppose.

THE BOYS:

2049068099_Skye(S6).thumb.jpg.31ad630a094476d71bdc26bdec1791e8.jpg

-1 in Shooting, but a +1 in Aerial. Quite a disappointing performance this season, with just 27 goals & 10 assists in 62 games.

500971469_Julian(S6).thumb.jpg.42bfd62cb2dc5714201c6f6a9eb1a041.jpg

+1 in Strength, and a +2 in Teamwork. Not too shabby, considering he's the oldest amongst the 3 men, I expected him to stop growing entirely by now. A decent 39 goals was bagged, 3 more than last year, though he did play 5 more games as well.

20453639_BOGGY(S6).thumb.jpg.615301d0cbbcc581fe66ef2b8f2c6808.jpg

+1 in Pace & Teamwork. Not bad, however I'd rather his decisions went up instead, since it seems to be the only thing hindering him at this point. He managed to rack up 33 goals & 17 assists in 58 games though, so maybe not.

GOAL TALLY:

978483098_GoalTally(99).thumb.jpg.5af0572a0eda97d1624659e25b55040f.jpg

For the first time in this save, the 3 of them have scored less than the previous seasons. Just 99 goals this time round, bringing us to a total of 516 / 1500 goals. No question about it now, we're definitely off the mark. The boys are gonna have to step it up if we want to stand a chance of completing this challenge.

SEASON 7:

We sold Firmo for the same reason we sold Palanca, his attitude wasn't good for the club and I decided the C in morale and professionalism wasn't worth one player, probably could have gotten a lot more than £77M though. Other that that it was business as usual, selling players that I felt weren't good enough and bringing in youngsters to replace them.

COMPETITIONS (DOMESTIC):

Not much to say, we once again dominate everything that's local. Slightly better performance in the League this time round, though funny enough we scored less compared to last season (125 this season VS 133 last season).

COMPETITIONS (CONTINENTAL):

Spoiler

2087396020_AllOwnGoals(CL).thumb.jpg.dc4fd64068e908e13a5c427b0a03de1b.jpg2133015659_RIPInter.thumb.jpg.f92819279c1f78425ef98ec562370ddd.jpg61946307_CLVICTORYYY.thumb.jpg.7bc1c2c356dbb8b4dab1ee9813d0e2a9.jpg

The quadruple has finally been achieved! Third time's the charm I suppose, after losing 2 finals in 3 seasons. 2 notable games along the way, the first one being a 1 - 1 draw against Young Boys where only own goals were scored. The other game was a 5 - 0 dismantling of Inter Milan in the first leg.

THE BOYS:

Skye.thumb.jpg.b649b73ca795cf9478bf4b094230d61f.jpg

+1 in Decisions, Dribbling, Passing, Shooting & Strength. Definitely the best and most versatile out of the 3 lads, he's without a shred of doubt, bounced back this season, with 36 goals and 14 assists in 57 games. Definitely impressive, though I feel that the best is yet to come.

Julian.thumb.jpg.f5c6d026e323801a53eb27bdac50630d.jpg

No growth for the lad, which doesn't come as a surprise. Doesn't seem to matter either, with an insane 61 goals and 7 assists in 62 games.

BOGGY.thumb.jpg.8f9b6d847606bcb9e02cac0978e6eee7.jpg

A small +1 in Movement. As for his stats, he's achieved 33 goals and 14 assists in 55 games. Still pretty good, but nowhere close to the 45 goals and 19 assists in 54 games he achieved in S5. Then again, perhaps his shift from a central CF to playing as a PF center-right might have something to do with it.

GOAL TALLY:

1336672533_GoalTally(130).thumb.jpg.3abc7a9358af1ba4ed73bb55cc810b36.jpg

We rebound from last season with a staggering 130 goals, bringing us up to a nice total of 646 / 1500 goals. The new tactic definitely seems to work, though I'm gonna keep playing around with it to see if I can improve it even further. That being said, would you guys be interested in a tactics write-up? LMK! Anyways, our odds have definitely turned for the better, as long as we keep improving each season I'm certain we'll be successful.

Hey, sorry for not updating this thread for a while. Been busy w/ the holiday season and a bit of burnout with the game, to be honest. Nevertheless, I'm back, and with that, season 8!

Aside from the hefty £125M spent on Perez (regen CM) and the clever signing of Osimhen on a free, the transfer window was the standard affair of selling players and signing youngsters / better players to replace them.

At this point it's the norm for us to win everything, and once again we delivered exactly what was expected of us. Stirling Albion did get curbstomped by us along the way, resulting in an 11 - 0 thrashing by our hands. With 3 (and 2/3rds, if you wanna count Azon's "2 in 3") hat-tricks!

While we did win the Super Cup first time asking, Atletico Madrid got their revenge for last season's CL final in the CWC by beating us... with the same scoreline as well, talk about poetic payback. We also managed to win the CL for the 2nd season running by beating out Bayern 1 - 0.

Normally I'll have a section here showing how the lads have grown, but at this stage their growth is so minor that I think it's a bit pointless to do it anymore. Unless something drastic happens, I'll be cutting it out.

GOAL TALLY:

792463122_GoalTally163JEEZ(1).thumb.jpg.e46d5b2f341972fbdb5a1d26675c7fa4.jpg

Well, we sure did outdo ourselves. An accumulative 163 goals from the 3 lads, with more than half coming from the big man, Julian. This brings us up to 803 / 1500 goals, finally taking us over the halfway mark.

I can't promise that I'll be updating this too frequently, but I'll do my best to see it through till the end. We are definitely on pace to beat this challenge, it would be a shame to stop prematurely.

That was the plan originally, actually! But it's really a slog to complete 1 challenge, let alone 3 of them, so I don't know if I'll even go for it now xD

We'll see what happens, but I'm not forcing myself to do it if I'm no longer having fun.

Maybe take a lil break - like I do once in a while - but it'd be great to see these 3 Hollanders succeed.. eventually. I'm rooting for the Dutchies!

Eventually, yea! It'd be a waste to see all this go to waste, after all =P
