Never mind a trophy cabinet, Roy needs a trophy wing!

Are you going see out the 30 seasons? It would be great to see what extra adventures you can have with Roy... maybe see if there are any great escapes for the last few seasons?!

It has gone better than expected.  🤪 There’s also not many games you can take a few months off and then come back to again. FMM has definitely become my preferred version of FM now.

Yeah, I wanted to do a 30 season save and that’s why I ended up doing this. And, it’s been more fun than I thought it would. There’s only been a couple of dull seasons.

If I can finally get the Trophee des Champions then I guess I’ll send Roy in pursuit of some lower league titles in Europe. It seems in keeping with the overall theme.

The real prize now though is that bloody Africans Nations Trophy… lol

Season 25 (2046/47)

Well, we stuffed up the Trophee des Champions against PSG 🙄

IMG_2252.thumb.png.6e33a6919ac90ce093f595504aa1e104.png

So, I had the dull prospect of having to go through the season with the only objective of finishing in the top 2 in the league.

Unfortunately the season proved to be anything but dull. Surprisingly the squad went on a mini-explosion. We lost 3 of the first 4 games and drew the other. Normally reliable players took us on a rollercoaster of a season. It was classic FMM madness.

Still, we managed to get 2nd place after a mammoth struggle against Rennes. The final table looks comfortable but it was only because they tailed off in the last couple of games. We were trading places and points gaps until game week 30:

IMG_2277.thumb.png.b1e811c645c07318839e7e2a7a581410.png

Anyway, we qualified for next season’s Trophee des Champions so hopefully we don’t muck it up again.

Annoyingly we beat PSG twice this season in other competitions and drew the other times. So, fingers crossed. I don’t really fancy another French season 🤪

The cups turned out to be the places we played brilliantly. We won the French Cup:

IMG_2269.thumb.png.b64d6633534f71d3e803e6da4ed37a33.png

And in the Champions League final we had a repeat of last year. We played well until my captain and goalkeeper did a play-out-from-the-back comedy routine in extra time:

IMG_2270.thumb.png.5bcfaadc19806efbf78931c0ad9fbf0e.png

African Nations

Finally I snagged the African Nations with the Ivory Coast.

It was the classic injury filled tournament but somehow we got through it all and bested Tunisia in the final:

IMG_2260.thumb.png.0e917ab86d6fd8d082f13a58dfcfb1f6.png

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve tried to win this trophy so I’m pleased to finally get it done!

Manager

Roy passed his 1000th win this season!

And, bizarrely it seems that there are only a limited number of places in the Trophy Cabinet. The African Nations doesn’t show up and now the Uefa Conference League has dropped off too… It seems to be limited to thirty items in the list or I have broken it 🤪

Season 26 (2047/48)

We had one job to do—win the Trophee des Champions. And, of course, we lost.

We fought back to get an equaliser in the 89th minute. Their keeper gets sent off and there’s no extra time!! Straight to pens and we muck it up..

IMG_2280.thumb.png.eb76b336b8112c6f6620d295a6b5e9f3.png

So, another French season needed to be able to circle back and have another go.

The funniest thing is we didn’t lose again. The one game we had to win we lose and nothing else.. 🙄😂:

Season 27 (2048/49)

This turned out to be a busy season. First up, we finally took care of the Trophee des Champions:

IMG_2300.thumb.png.8d64f0bf16fa93318787a88f176c1693.png

It certainly helped not having to face PSG.

Then we added the UEFA Supercup:

IMG_2301.thumb.png.6e6f2c551ae97fbcb11be55bceb19d0c.png
(nice to see Reims facing off with Real Madrid)

I then got Roy to resign from Reims. The only problem being that it was a slow time for jobs. So, we had to wait 3 months before the first opportunity turned up.

And that was at a small club called Real Irún who were playing in the Spanish Federation 2 Group 5 league. Luckily for me they were doing pretty well when we joined them:

IMG_2306.thumb.png.8580b95b9af4313448153a89365ca84b.png

It turns out that the SF25 league has a lot of grey players and is not the most competitive. Still, Salamanca pushed us all the way to the final day but the title didn’t elude us:

IMG_2316.thumb.png.8e065081125d1ffab916ce4521485e3b.png

It then seemed best to leave Real Irún and see what better opportunities I could find.

And, Sevilla were being relegated to the Spanish Second Division so Roy took over as manager at the end of the season. Which of course means he gets a second relegation on his record..

Uruguay

The Uruguay job became available this season so I thought I might as well take it. It’s been quite hard to get a job in the Americas. Roy has applied to Argentina and Mexico previously bit never hears back.

Hopefully I’ll get to play in the Copa America this save.

Season 28 (2049/50)

Interestingly when I started gutting the Sevilla squad Roy had a mini-revolt on his hands. All the over paid players were angry that I was shipping them out of the door. It was the first time in a long time his reputation went down to a polite “well respected”.

Anyway the transfer dealing went well and we strolled to the title:

IMG_2338.thumb.png.0f1f17923a714fff75fd2cd927e97d6c.png

The best thing this season was our cup performance. We went all the way to the final to face Barcelona (who were sitting at the top of La Liga). And, we hammered them:

IMG_2336.thumb.png.37187bf3a4220aea9e9789c6051a056b.png

Roy had the luxury of having a lot of time to pick the next move and decided on A. Bilbao. They had somehow managed to slip into the Spanish Federation 1A league a few seasons back.

Uruguay

Uruguay had the World Cup to play this season. We suffered a crazy amount of injuries. At one point I had to sub on our 3rd choice keeper as a striker to try and combat tiredness. And then even he got injured..

Still, we battled to the quarter-finals where we were humiliated by Brazil.

The national FA were happy though so onwards we go.

Season 29 (2050/2051)

Last season the job at A. Bilbao seemed like a good move. But before Roy had even unpacked his bags we got a missive from the board stating that we could only sign Basque players.

That felt like a level of difficulty I just didn’t need in these twilight seasons so Roy resigned and we went to Oviedo.

Ovideo had its own challenges—namely a gaggle of old overpaid players who all wanted to retire at the end of their contracts. It meant I couldn’t get them off the wage bill. 🙄

Still, I’d thought I’d done some good transfer business but I couldn’t have been more wrong. We had a torrid time in the first half of the season but managed to keep within touching distance of the top. Then I managed to tweak the squad in January and took the title race to the final day:

IMG_2352.thumb.png.e670ad4d9d1a44a0dc5900215e923832.png
There was a federation cup but we didn’t get an invite. I have no idea what the criteria for that competition is, and the Spanish Cup we left as quickly as possible without upsetting the board.

So, that’s all the league tiers in Spain completed.

I’m not sure where Roy will be next but I think in one of C leagues in Italy. If would give us the opportunity to do a league and cup double of new trophies in the final season.

Uruguay

A bit of a dull season for Uruguay—just a few friendlies.

However, I think the Copa America might turn up at the end of next season so it’ll be interesting to see if we can be competitive in that tournament. It would be the last games Roy would manage.

Season 30 (2051/52)

Picking Roy’s last club was a bit of a weird experience. I figured we had to chase some more trophies.

I looked at Termoli in the Italian C/C league and even St Albans in the VNN but both were completely filled with grey players. It’s kind of funky to get a job offer were the wage bill you have to work to is £0 per week..

In the end I sent Roy to manage Alessandria in the Italian Serie C/A league. They had 1 player who was supported by his grey player buddies. So, that was an interesting window as I tried to fill out an entire squad before the board figured out how much money I was spending over their £1.5k per week budget.

Still, the squad was good enough to win the league:

IMG_2372.thumb.png.c5d57382838be271ab35a15f11742e3a.png

but not good enough to cope with a dual campaign. We lost the Serie C Cup in the first round on penalties.

However, there is a Serie C Super Cup where the 3 winners of the C/A, C/B and C/C leagues battle it out in a mini-league. And, we won that:

IMG_2411.thumb.png.2635810e27ca375119dfce645194bb01.png

Roy got his cup and league double in his final season after all.

The thing I’m most pleased about is Roy got past 1200 wins this season. It had become a mini side quest for me and we achieved it in his second to last game!

Uruguay

Uruguay did get to play in the Copa America and qualified for the quarter-finals by finishing first in their group:

IMG_2412.thumb.png.0aa49ebb438b2d44cff02c510bc9325f.png

Sadly the quarter-final is in the next season 😂 I guess I’ll think of Roy slipping off his retirement coat and battling away in the Copa America without me. I think he has a good chance of winning it too..

I didn’t realise that once Roy stuck on his sunglasses that he would lead me on such an epic journey!

1201 games won—a percentage of 72% of games played. (He was 71.99% before the final game and the win against Costa Rica added that final 0.01% 😁)

IMG_2380.thumb.png.d505f6acfdc2fbcbd2715e25ba677d9f.png

Trophy Cabinet:

Roy won 38 unique trophies. So many that the trophy cabinet couldn’t list 8 of them. 🏆

In total he won 52 trophies and was promoted 12 times. (He wasn’t really relegated)

And, I think he was only actually sacked twice rather than the 20 noted.

Thanks mate. It was fun! I quite like that Inter was probably the biggest club Roy managed. It was just the way the job opportunities worked out but it was nice to manage some underdogs to some titles.

Fair play to the game though. Even when the lower leagues were filled with grey players it still made it feel competitive at times.
