Help Man Utd Tactic Help

Hi everyone!

I've been trying recreate Erik Ten Hag's current Man Utd tactic to my FMM23 game play. I feel like I have got the basic roles and tactical theory behind then correct but I can't seem to be scoring.

I'm also not sure about the asymmetrical system. I was thinking about moving Casemiro up to CM as a CM and not a BWM and maybe switch Eriksen role to AP.

Also I am really struggling to get IF and IW (Both wingers) to create or score.

Can someone help me with any suggestions?

Interesting question. Two quick observations…

Firstly - can I ask why you’re focusing the play down the RIGHT hand side? Perhaps it should be ‘both flanks’?

  •  When Martial has been fit, that Shaw / Rashford left sided combination has been quite prominent.
  • Regardless, Shaw has been hugely involved in almost all of Man United’s build up play this season. See spoiler.
  • Therefore I’d suggest choosing ‘both flanks’.

Secondly - while you’ve asked the team to build down the right, there’s no connecting MC to move the ball forward down that right hand side.

  • Solution 1: move the RP to the right side (MRC position) - why? to connect the IWB + IW, …
  • or Solution 2: move your BWM forward to a the MRC position (in a CM role), with your DR changed to a FB, …
  • or Solution 3: move your BWM forward to a the MRC position (same as above), but in a DLP or CM role, with your DR moved forward into the DMR position as a more advanced IWB.

If you’re going to focus play down he right side, you need to overload / more players on that side! Hope that helps 🙂

Thank you for your response.

My initial tactic was focusing on both flanks but I was just trying out ways to get wingers involved. Oversight on my part, should've rectified that before posting.

The wingers still seem to be struggling to get goals/assists.
