Career Kanegan Conquers Continents (The Conclusion)

Ok, so welcome to my 1st long save of FMM 2023 and it will be tackling one of my own challenges:

 

So, a little bit of intro before we delve into everything.

 

Nations Loaded - South Africa , Mexico , Argentina , Australia , Poland.

We start this career with the 1st African League in the game, South Africa and take charge of Kaizer Chiefs.

South Africa has 4 Cups in addition to the South African Premiership League, Be The Coach Challenge, Knockout Cup, Super 8 Cup and the FA Cup so i would need to win 5 domestic trophies in addition to the African Champions League in order to close the stage.

 

The winner of the League gets a place in the qualifying round for the African Champions League so target for Season 1 is to win the league.

With not much of a transfer budget, had to rely on cheap workable options with the main player brought in being Mayo.

The primary objective was achieved, winning the league although we didn't win any cups except Be The Coach Challenge.

Some good pickups from Brazil and Argentina along with some freebies as we looked to better our squad.

We did the repeat of the league win and also won two more cups as we won the FA Cup and the Knockout Cup.

 

African Champions League

We won the Champions League at the first moment of asking.  We swept the group stage with 6 wins and then went all the way to the final where we defeated Al-Ahly of Egypt to become the African champions.

Zane Mathaba, our academy graduate played his first full season and shined as he picked up the FA Cup Young Player of the Tournament.

 

Champions League Goals

Mayo scored 12 goals in the tournament but failed to win the Golden Boot as Percy Tau of Al-Ahly scored 12 goals in lesser matches.

We did a three-peat of the League and wrapped up our final trophy in South Africa with the Knockout Cup and Be The Coach challenge and also repeated our Champions League triumph, getting the better of Egyptian opponents again.

Season 4

In my haste to move to a new country, i took up a job in Argentina with a rather unique name, 

 

Defensa Y Justicia was languishing in 23rd position when i took the job and exiting both the League Cup and Copa Argentina.

 

With peanuts for transfer budget and even less wage budget, we failed to attract any decent players and i started regretting my choice. Anyways, i managed to steer them to 18th by the season end.

 

Season 5

The budget did not improve and i started looking for other jobs. We had a fantastic League Cup run though,

 

managing to qualify for the quarter finals and then went all the way to final before we lost to the giants Boca Juniors. Still the club was in shambles with pathetic squad and budget so finally i moved on,

 

Lanus had a better transfer budget and a decent wage budget. They had exited the League Cup and Copa Argentina and were sitting in 6th after 6 games but 

We managed to go all the way to 2nd with River Plate beating us on the last day of the season to win by a solitary point. But we had ensured Copa Libertadores direct qualification and next season we would play continental football.

I also managed to win myself Manager of the Year.

Season 6

Got my highest transfer fee sell so far of this career in the form of Julian Aude, my left wing back who was instrumental in us finishing 2nd in the league and brought in re-inforcements, mainly from the rival Argentinian clubs as work permit is a pain in the ass for foreign players.

We won the League and League Cup this season while exiting the Copa Argentina in Quarter Final stage, capping off the successful season.

 

Copa Libertadores

We topped our group in the Copa Libertadores in the very first attempt and then went all the way to the final including a giant killing of River Plate in the semis but our luck ran out against the other biggie Boca Juniors.

Our Attacking Midfielder, Pedro de la Vega won the Best Player in the Copa Libertadores while i won the Manager of the Year. Munoz also won the Golden Boot.

Orellano topped his last season with 15 goals and 8 assists at Av.R of 7.62 from the right wing position making him our impact player of the season.

The RL world cup winning star, Julian Alvarez was bought at the fag end of the season so he did not feature much in Season 6.

As revealed, Julian Alvarez was brought in.

We claimed back the league and defended Supercopa and League Cup with Boca getting defeated in both the finals.

 

Copa Libertadores

Finally, after two seasons, we won the big one with a fat win over O'Higgins of Chile with Julian Alvarez putting in an inspired hattrick in the final. La Licata scored 7 goals in the competition.

Julian Alvarez was the centrepiece of the season, notching up the domestic POTY, Copa Libertadores Best Player and Golden Boot. Perhaps it would have been better if i had shifted my national hero to Alvarez but nothing could be done now.

Alvarez was the star of the season with 25 goals and 22 assists at Av.R of 7.45.

He scored the exact same amount of goals as last season.

Season 9

We won our final trophy with the Recopa Sudamericana, the South American equivalent of the UEFA Super Cup, played between winners of Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. With Club World Championship still 3 years to go, and our South American stage complete, we decided to move on and landed in one of the worst clubs in-game in Mexico:

Venados was similar in position to Defensia y Justicia with no transfer budget, worthless wage budget and a pathetic team, we had our task cut out.

Mexico had two league champions, Aperture or Opening Stage and Clausura or Closing Stage with 17 games in each and playoffs post that.

We managed to stay clear of relegation after 9 games in charge in the Closing Stage and then went out in the preliminary round of the playoffs.

Season 10

Apart from the two League trophies, Mexico has Champions Trophy (between winners of Apertura and Clausura), Leagues Cup (between clubs of Mexico and USA), Campeones Cup (between winners of MLS Cup and winners of Mexican Champions Trophy).

The Apertura was a disaster as we were in last position with not much improvements in the squad.

We toiled along and i was looking for a way out and a new job and finally luck shined on me:

 

I was appointed manager for Club America.

League Clausura

They were just outside the automatic playoff places,

but we rallied and finished fourth.

and then went on to win our 1st title in Mexico,

We lost in the final of the Apertura but defended our Clausura title.

Cups

We won both the Campeones Cup and the Mexican Champions Trophy but couldn't progress past the semi-final in the Leagues Cup.

 

North American Champions League

Our NACL campaign didn't start on the right note as we finished outside the automatic qualification places but we still had the route via playoffs. Defeating Monterrey in the final playoff match, we took our revenge against Seattle for Leagues Cup Cup defeat in the quarters before Lozano made a heroic comeback with a hattrick as we overcame the first leg deficit against Chivas and then he hit a brace as we defeat the mighty New York City to win the NACL in our first attempt.

Lozano killed it in NACL with 9 goals and picked up the Golden Boot award to give us bonus 5 points.

Season 12

This season we were looking to wrap up Mexico by winning the remaining comps i.e the Apertura and Leagues Cup while defending our NACL title to get a shot at the CWC which was scheduled at the end of the season.

League Performance

We dominated both the stages of the league, not losing any matches and in the Apertura we won 16 out of 17 matches, drawing just once. Lozano stamped his authority as we won both the titles, the first time it happened in-save in 10 years with Lozano scoring a hattrick in the Apertura final to give us the title. We also won the Leagues Cup this season but i forgot to grab the screenshot.

NACL

We dominated our group and then defended our title easily defeating LAFC in the final. Lozano once again showed his liking for NACL, going one better than last season and notching up the Golden Boot again, giving us another bonus.

 

Season 13

CWC

Spoiler

We were clubbed with Atletico Madrid and Al Rayyan of Morocco in the CWC and we navigated it well, drawing with Atletico Madrid and defeating Al Rayyan where Lozano hit a brace in 2 minutes to send us at the top. Our exploits continued as we got the better of Real Madrid as Lozano hit a brace in the last 9 minutes to draw us level and then our other star, Vargas hit the winning goal. Man City was a bridge too far as Haaland decided to score for fun against us and then we failed to win the third place playoff against Chelsea. Lozano missed out on the Golden Boot to Haaland, scoring 5 goals.

 

Raul Vargas

Raul Vargas developed nicely over two seasons, giving us both goals and assists.

 

Esteban Lozano

Lozano was on fire, hitting 53 goals in the 12th Season and then he went on with 9 from 9 before we moved on.
