Help Help me create a good tactic, according to my team.

Hello guys, first thing first, sorry about my grammar, I am not good at writing, I am asleep when my teacher at school teach me to write in the English Language, and I regret it.

I play this for less than a mount, and I like it, I'm kinda bad at this game, but I am happy to learn more, especially about tactics. I already read about how to make a good tactic but I am not sure. Some managers use template tactics and buy a player to fit whit that tactic. But in my case, I manage the lowest team, who doesn't have much transfer budget and wage budget.

so I need to create a good tactic according to my team. I am very happy if you can help me guys and thank you.

so this is my team status and my opposition, I am managing Cheshunt from vanarama south.

• Objectives = mid-table finish or staying clear from relegation is good enough
• Star Player =

1. Josh Bohui

I am not sure if he is a star player or not, because I think his stat is standard considering his value is 30k pounds sterling, but he can play in both left and right winger positions (AMLR/MLR). And he is the best current ability.

2. Rowan Liburd

He is my best striker with 15 aerial, his shooting is 12 and 12 pace. Bus his positioning is only 3.

• Strengths and weaknesses =

Strengths =

1. Great depth in the CDM

2. Great depth in the AML

3. Great depth in the AMR

4. Great depth in the ST

Weaknesses =

1. Lacking depth in the GK (only have 1, and he is 32 years old)

2. Lacking depth in the right full back (in natural position only have 1 DR, and 33 years old, bus his pace attribute is 15)

3. Lacking depth in the AMC

4. Lacking the ability to pass and not comfortable on the ball

• Possible transfer =

Considering my team's weaknesses maybe I will buy DL and GK, but my finances are not good, I only have a 350-pound wage budget and 0 transfer budget, so maybe I will sell a lot of players, depending on my tactic and formation. For example, if I use 41221 formation I will sell my AMC, MR, and ML players.

• Opposition formation =

For the opposition formation, they use 41221 and 4231 with 2 DM and 3 AM

• Opposition strengths =
• Defensive side

they have an average aerial 12 and an average pace 9, but my best ST has 15 aerial and 12 pace, unfortunately, my substitutions ST doesn't have 15 aerial and 12 pace

• Attacking side

they have an average aerial of 10 and an average pace of 11, my DC can handle aerial but for pace is lower than average opposition ST

• recommendation tactic and formation from assistance =

my assistant recommends I use tactic route one, catenaccio, and park the bus. I am okay with route one but for the catenaccio and park the bus, I little bit worried, about how I can win the game if my team always defends, but I understand since my team cannot pass and is not comfortable on the ball.

about formation, my assistant recommends using 41221 for route one, 5 back for catenaccio, and 5 midfielders for park the bus.

I prefer to use route one with 41221 formation, but how about you guys? and i need your suggestion about roles for each position. please help me and thank you so much

BEST OPTION:
Honestly, I think your best choice is to SELL as many players as possible (even for free!) to free up your wage budget. Maybe keep only 3-5 existing players.

Then bring in a new team of free players + loanees. You’ll get a better team + better results.

To give you an example - these four free DCs are all ‘as good’ (or better!) than your current DCs - and due to their young age, they all should improve (get even better!):

DCs
 3 stars (out of 5)

You’ve only got 4 DCs in the squad. So if you go for a back 3, then you’ll need extra squad depth here.

One is good but slow, one is mediocre, one is on loan, and the last is higher potential (but rubbish now!).

A back 3 looks doable, with your best aerial / slow DC in the middle. This gives regular games to your high potential DC, who could become your star.

FBs
 1 star (out of 5)

A major weakness.

On the right-flank, you’ve got one rubbish 33 year old WBR (15 pace! 4 positioning!), plus two of your DCs can play here.

On the left-flank, you’ve got two mediocre FBs + one midfielder who can play here.

None of them can do more than one of these things: cross, dribble, pass, tackle. That’s awful.

Having no FBs looks doable. As if you want FBs / WBs, you’ll need to bring in new players.

 
WM / W
 3 stars (out of 5)

You have a lot of wingers / wide attackers.

Your best right-sided winger is Bohui - who can cross, dribble + is pacy (11-12’s 👍) but he can’t really shoot (7) nor defend (3’s).

Reynolds is ok as a left sided wide midfielder (WM), with decent passing (10) + should improve as is only 22 years old.

The rest are weak. While they all have 10+ for pace, they can’t cross, dribble, pass, nor shoot. Ouch. 

Having wide players is doable - in either the MR/L or AMR/L positions. 
 

ST
 4 stars (out of 5)

Your star striker is someone you must keep. Both his aerial 15 + 12 pace are better than most opposition defenders. Plus he can shoot!

While you have a few other STs - there’s only one other decent ST who had both good pace + decent shooting. 

Either 1 or 2 STs upfront would work. Though I wonder if you can bring in a better pacy 2nd striker on a free or loan?

 
Other
You've got multiple defensive midfielders, but none of them are that good.

Unfortunately you have NO decent  attacking midfielders (M/AMC) - so no APs/RPs/SS for you - unless you sign some. 

Plus your keeper is ‘ok’, but you only have one, so desperately need another on a free or loan.

 2 stars (out of 5)

Your squad is pretty weak.

As an example - if we use a 352 / 3142 formation - so no need for FBs ✅ then let’s look at our first team’s attributes …

… one dribbler + crosser … one passer … two goal-scorers … the rest of the team can’t create much - as they can’t cross, dribble, pass, not shoot.

So we need to keep the tactic + instructions simple … 

• Passing - I’d assume direct passing (as our teams passing is quite poor)
• Wide - either a W or DW on the right flank, and a WM on the left flank.
• Strikers - am not sure of the best roles, you’d have to experiment.
• Anchor - could be either in the DMC or MC position, would test both + see which gets the central midfielders to better feed your better wide players.
• MCs - no fancy creative roles, as they aren’t good enough. Normal CM or B2B roles are worth testing though.

They aim is to bypass / ignore the opposition DMs … direct or mixed passes out wide to either our Winger (for runs + crosses) or our Wide Midfielder (for passes + through balls) … into our star striker to work his magic.

 
Alternatives

If you want a more attacking version, then sign an AMC or two, for a 3412 formation - like @Van The Man ‘a bright future’ tactic.

Or for something more defensive - you can stay with a back 3 (343 DM?) or change to a more standard back 4 (41221?) - but in both tactics you’d need better WBs.

You right this team is really hard to manage, and I need to sell pretty much all players. 

I am oke if I can sell all players, but the problem is I can't, I already offered them like twice a week but no club make a deal. And that make harder.

Tactic Tested! ✅ 

I had some time free this evening - so loaded this 3142 tactic + played through the friendlies + first 10 league games

• No signings - brought in a few loans, but the ONLY players who played were at the club when I loaded the save.
• Plug + Play - made only a few subs when absolutely necessary, no other changes in-match.
• Mixed passing - I decided against direct passing after re-reading my post above. So tested using mixed passing, which I think is more suitable.
• Tweaked Roles - after 6-7 league games, I tried changing the MLC to a CM role + star striker to an AF. Didn’t notice much difference.
• Editor - I used the ‘heal team’ option (editor) once, as I hadn’t realized we had 2 games in 3 days. You can probably remove that 1 point draw we achieved as a result of that.

Results
Here’s our league performance after 10 games

2nd?! If you remove that one point (after using the editor's heal team ) - then we’d be in 7th or 8th - which is more reasonable.

Not bad results - good defensively, but haven’t got the right player roles / tactical instructions when attacking - only scored 14 goals in 10 league games.

I didn’t setup any set piece instructions - so that backfired when our midfielder MISSED a last minute penalty 😞  

Observations
While international duty was surprisingly problematic - some of our players were much better than expected …

I was surprised our star striker wasn’t more effective - the TM role isn’t best for him. 

But our 2nd Striker was on fire 🔥  

It was annoying that both strikers missed two games due to international duty 😡

A solid tactic. You won’t get fired first season. You have time to develop your players + squad, then tweak your tactic … was interesting for me + hope this helps you

Yes, several schedules are very detrimental to this small team, sometimes I'm confused about how this small team can play twice a week

Yes, I used a different tactic. I used the tactic from viber with the title "Wrexham 100% Win" or something, I forgot. And I was surprised with the result. Instead of defending, I decided to make my team attack. I was influenced by the words "the best defense is a offense".

I have already borrowed some young players, especially in the DRL, MRL, and ST positions. I need to make changes in the MC and DC positions, which I will do in the second season. I can't wait to transform the whole team, and maybe in the second season, I will use a 4-2-3-1 DM formation, with a more attacking tactic, hoping to get promoted in the second season.
