Career Chestnut youth to gold. My eternal struggle.

Hi, I have been trying to create a youth to gold save at chestnut but I have a big trouble stabilising the club in the lowest tier of England for 6 saves now. Normaly i can get every club i manage stable by signing some free players but this is youth to gold so i cant make my team good and i have to work with the scraps i have. After trying to change (steal) there was a brief period of good results but now i am back to stage one.

Any tips on how to save my save?

thanks

P.S. sorry for any spelling mistakes a second language doesn't go well with dyslexia

I think you are lacking defensive solidarity more than attacking powress. As from what I can see in pic you've managed to score more often and you can't keep a clean sheet. So my advice with this data is to defend as boring 0-0/1-1 draws are better than losing while playing stylish football. I don't have much experience with lower leagues tho so I'll be curious to hear other's opinions.

Share your current tactics and stats of key players. This will help in better formation calculation

key players (greyed out recruits better than most of the real squad)

I would highly recommend formation change as your 2 defender are wide open. None of your midfielders are going to tackle and win the ball and have free roaming access. 3 strikers even with 2 PF seems too much form me, have one TF and one poacher if you want multiple strikers.

Either play with back 3 with 2 WB amd one dm just above defenders or have 1 TF with a SS as your attack followed by 3 midfielders and 1 defensive midfielder. One DM can work wonders man.

You have short passing style which needs goods passers to progress the ball forward while simultaneously your keeper goes long. You have no TF to challenge for keeper's long ball in air.

You have control mentality which is bit too shabby for mid/lower table team.

My suggestions are

1. Change the formati to more defensive one.

2. Get a defensive midfielder ahead of defense.

3. Direct/Mixed passing style with counter/defensive mentality.

4. Your key players are youngsters (given your challange) so you also have to rotate them.

5. One BBM/RPM at max until you have developed decent players.

6. 3 strikers are too much imo, 1-2 should be enough with 1 TF.

TLDR: Go more defensive.

Those are all valid points, but I'll add another one - deep line and pressing all over are not a good combo.

By playing with a deep line your team is sitting near your goal, but you're also instructing them to press all overthe field, which is a lot of ground to cover. There are two problems coming from that - players get exhausted and also they are too far apart from each other, your formation is "stretched" all over the field.

Try pressing only on your half or switching to a balanced defensive line.

High defensive line will definitely lead to lots of goals unless you have pacey defenders.

Agree with @BarnDoor - first thing should be to change this / to almost anything else!

Great feedback so far. I actually did a guide for Cheshunt and played a half-season with their existing squad (no transfers / no greyed out players). Was fun.

On the link below - you can see my analysis of their current squad, plus my 3142, plus the original posters 442 (same as ‘welcome to Wrexham 442’) - both of which put us in the top half of the table.

Both tactics are pretty good - feel free to tweak your own or move to one of these 🙂

Idk how I didn't write that, I certainly wanted to. But maybe that setting is too scary for me to remember. Like imagine defenders chilling with goalkeeper and your 3 mids are running allover trying to cover space, while 2 strikers just press defenders and 1 just exists.

Idk man..3 UCL in a row while conceding less then 14 goals in 3 seasons using Lower LOD & Higher LOE seems pretty good to me.I think it could work if you use the right mentality.I use balance & control most of the time.

It can work if you have good enough players that would win no matter what. Or maybe it could work even in some specific situations.

From what I've seen and from what others have tested & reported as well, it's USUALLY not a good combo.

In the bottom tier of English football you're gonna have players with orange stats, mixed in with some reds and blues. Those guys cant chase the ball for 90mins without needing a CPR after each game 😅

Almost every tactic works with good team. I meant here in this context.

Hi, nice attempt here.

Mostly I will quote the previous suggestions. What to say more?

Think about the stars of your players: they are related to the Division you are in, therefore imo you must bet on Charles.

Look at the most frequent pitch conditions, they can suggest the best way to reach the opposing penalty area.
