Interesting question 👍 you mean this 3241 which he used against Liverpool for example - right?

Defense

In possession - Pep’s defense looked like 3 defenders with 2 DMCs - like one of these two options …

BUT here is the problem. Out of possession, it needs to be a flat back 4 with a single DMC.

That means you need something like one of these 3 options …

Option A
An IWB on the right + three DCs. Though the open left flank is defensively weak.

Option B
An IWB on the right in a flat back four. The two defenders on the left side need roles which position them more centrally (e.g. a DFB + Sweeper?). Isn’t ideal.

Option C
Theoretically a Libero together with 3 defenders could work. Seems a bit ‘odd’ + I don’t know how a Libero performs in this year’s FMM match engine.

Summary
These are the 3 options I can think of defensively - especially as we don’t have ‘wide CBs’ in the game yet.

Thoughts? 🙂

Attack

In this 3241 - Pep’s front five are pretty interesting - with a lot more movement, variety and positional switching than FMM allows.

So here are your 3 probable options:

Option I
Two APs (or AMs) to create chances from central positions + two Wingers to spread play / force the opposition defense wider.

Option II
Same two APs, but with two IFs who stay wide, until the final third where they can they can ‘cut in’ (to the far post?)

Option III
While De Bruyne is likely an AP (as does do some pressing / defensive work) - Pep’s other AMC does seem to drop deeper out-of-possession.

So perhaps one B2B role could work - as a B2B also gets forward into the AMC area when the team are in possession (not an RP, who will also drift inside centrally).

Striker
Surely Pep’s Haaland is an AF - right?

Summary
So I don’t know what works best. But here are 3 defensive options + 3 attacking options while are similar to Pep’s 3241 tactic - for you to choose between. Does this help?

Thoughts? 🙂

But what's the shape,defense, attack

What do YOU think? 🙂

Although I haven’t tested any of this, theoretically I’d go:

  • Mentality - defensive / counter - to encourage patient / low risk passes and build up play. EDIT - Most Vibers would go ‘control / attacking’ as that’s their personal preference / more common / often more effective.

  • Width - wide - to stretch the attacking play as much as possible.
  • Pressing - high line + all over press - as realistic as possible.
  • Others - slow + short passing, high creative freedom, work into the box, short GK distribution.

  • Unsure - would you go ‘through balls’ or ‘run at defense’? Am not sure, probably leave it unselected (I.e. neither) - then would test on extended highlights to see what worked best.

What do YOU think? 🙂

PS. I don’t know how well this will work - as it was all theoretical - as I didnt test it before writing / posting …

… however now I quickly loaded up a new save + we’re off to an explosive start with this in our 1st friendly vs Valencia !

🙂 no more feedback from me on this 👍

No thanks - instead you can select what YOU want from (i) the options above, (ii) from what others said (e.g. RDF tactics) + (iii) from your thoughts 🙂

Once you see it in ‘extended highlights’ then you’ll want to tweak it anyway 🙂

Striker
Surely Pep’s Haaland is an AF - right?

I will prefer two AM at AMC position and two W at flanks.

Sorry I misspoke, it's certainly not my tactic. I found it a long time ago, I don't remember where it came from. If you know the author, I will edit and specify the author of this tactic in the post that I posted.

I have been trying to make a formation as well and took some ideas from this , i have gone with a 4-1-1-3-1 formation and has worked quite well for most of the above average teams , should i share those ?

I saw the tactics too on DK Falcon

Tried it on my Brighton save and it didn't really work for me.(probably because I don't have the players for the different positions).

Having a trail of this on my Taunton Town save. So far the results have been good though a small sample size.

Using the below instructions and formation.
