Help Shots on target

Hi

Hope y'all are doing okay!!

I just need some help. My team can have so many shots yet none of them is on target. I could have like 8 shots but none on target and the game ends as a stalemate. It's really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Either your strikers aren’t great or there is something in your tactic meaning they are taking pot shots at goal that aren’t likely to score with eg. Shoot on sight.

The best way to get help with this is to share more information like your tactic and the players you have. That way others might be able to suggest some tweaks.

Well am doing a Liverpool save so  I am in 2039. However for like the past 2 seasons the shots on target have reduced. And below is my tactic.

Then the profile of my striker.

PS: An image showing the stats of the game. Lots of possession however only 2 shots on target out of 8. Some games it's actually worse2069125451_Screenshot_20230611-162101_FM23Mobile.thumb.jpg.88ba1657b3c6eae9c942920db99837cb.jpg

I wouldn’t necessarily call 8 shots loads. Probably average. And two on target, well I’m a spurs fan so I’d take that.

If you’re just trying to score more goals try turning on shoot on sight. You’ll get more shots on and off target but more goals. Seems to work the best this year.

I think we have same problem, I think it's because your team overload alot

I know I'm sounding not intelligent but view it this way

Your tactics :what I can understand from it is that you have 6 attacking players (a poacher(he will stay in the Opp box to sneak out opportunities or wait onto through balls but his primary duty is to sit inside the box and wait for a tap in) You have 2 IFs whose aim is to score first or give an assist (they will run towards the 8 yard box to shoot or square play, hardly make crosses). You also have an SS who aggressively pushes into goal scoring opportunities, he is more active than a poacher, i am sure he runs ahead of your striker in your tactics (1 2 with the striker and he is in Opp box waiting to take that shot) a RP acts like an AP this version, he stays central and takes lots of shot if you notice.

So my point is your IFs will press the Opp fullbacks, while your striker and SS would press Opp CBs, your RP will have no option than to take those long range shots and if he is not good enough he will be wasting them

My suggestions, 1 you have a good striker with 15 Aerial try playing a flat 433(2 wingers and 2side BBM and 1 CM, not WBs just Fullbacks and CBs) set your striker target foward(TF) he will convert most of your chances

2: try playing narrow using 41212 RF/LF or 32221 TF

41212 GK, CBs, WBs, DLP, BBMs, AP and PFs(the shoot less but convert most of their chances)

32221(GK,2 side CBs, 1S,1DLP,1CM or BWM, 1AP,1SS and a TF)

This is what I think sha!

In addition to what others have wisely said:

  • fast tempo - you’re asking players to do everything quickly, including to shoot quickly
  • attacking mentality - you’ve picked the 2nd highest risk level, so you’re asking players to take high risk actions, rather than wait for safer / lower risk opportunities.
  • narrow width - so there’s no-one really forcing the opposition FBs wide, so their defense can be very narrow, giving less space for your attackers to find space

As a comparison - I’ve ran half-season ‘plug and play’ tests with Man Utd’s starting squad for various tactics <here>

On average we’ve had:

  • between 4 to 6 shots on target per game (depending on the tactic used)
  • between 40% to 50% shot accuracy for the better two tactics (black hawk + updated wrexham)

See extracts / details in spoiler

Spoiler

Shows the first 4 tactics tested - inc the black hawk 4123:

Shows the ‘updated and great again’ welcome to Wrexham 442:
