My wife has a Netflix account I could use, but I’m very tempted not to bother on principle. SI’s greed clearly has no bounds. Fuming for everyone who doesn’t have Netflix and doesn’t want to pay a £60 yearly subscription for a mobile game.

Yeah again my wife pays Netflix so I'll be getting FM24, absolutely hurt for the lads that won't be able to get this year's edition. Sorry its bang out of order, years of loyalty and this is what happens....

Wow the number of people not getting it, I really don't blame people. I mean what do they really expect?! We're in extremely bad times atm, and now this. Just unreal and shows its just a money game to them. I love FMM and I love this site, so yes I will be getting the game (luckily it's free) but the powers that be.... do you really think it will be free? Because SI surely wouldn't be getting anything out of this? The subscription you pay is Netflix only

I have a Netflix account, but only subscribe when there's anything worth watching, so maybe a few months of the year. I guess this means I would only be able to play FMM24 when the next series of The Crown is out?  But even slight flippancy aside, I should not have to subscribe to an unrelated service to play a game I have purchased - this is a very egregious move by SI here, and I think they will alienate a lot of fans who have enjoyed CM & then FM games for many years.

I feel sorry for Marc and the devs who I suspect have no say in this nonsense, and may find all their hard work going under appreciated.

As someone who is new to the FM experience and as of now I'm enjoying it, sucks I won't be able to get FMM24. I was definitely looking forward to getting it.

I've been a loyal fan of this game who's bought it on multiple platforms for 15 years now. FMH/FMM has been my main choice for many of those, because I'm older and I usually don't have the time to play something as complicated as FM or even FM touch.

This decision is just shocking to me, and I find it baffling that a gaming company would make a choice that would marginalize so many of their players so easily, and promote it as something amazing.

I have no Netflix subscription. I care nothing for their content and it's getting more and more expensive every year. Am I expected to pay 96€ (that's the cost in my country) just to play my favorite game from this year onwards? I obviously will not. Why is there no option to pay for the game on the Play Store/App Store as always? Because Netflix will pay lots of money for exclusives?

I don't know what else to say. I'm absolutely gutted to read this, because stupid me honestly expected better from SI. What a shame. What a shame.

The more I think about this move, the more I see only a plan.

Progressively dismiss the mobile version making also more money on short term... Genius! (from their pov)

PS I also have a Netflix account but I refuse this logic. I won't download the game to support who cannot afford the subscription

If that's the case, it's better to switch to playing fmt24, which costs only $4.99 per month. Si is completely at his own risk. By collaborating with SB platforms like Netflix, there are already many fewer people in fmm, and now there are even fewer people.

Can't believe so many have voted. Such a sad day for FMM. If my wife didn't have Netflix I wouldn't of getting FMM24. It's unreal to see so many comments. I totally understand where people are coming from. And from a SI point of view its a sad day for them. Figures will show that FMM is probably way behind the others. But I still reckon a good few thousand buy the game. Mobile is the way forwards in my opinion. I work 70 odd hour a week so would never get time for the full fat FM. Wife would go nuts, and from what I've seen from the recent FMs, it's to much to understand and get used to. With FMM it's so much more easier to use. Can smash a season at work and it's a pick up and ready you go. What will be interesting is, I'm going florida in February with the wife. Will I still be able to play it on flight mode 🤔

I have netflix keep meaning to cancel it because I can't remember the last time I watched anything decent on there.

Undecided about FM24 via Netflix and if I will play it. It's a crap move imo.

if you read the announcement it is a business descision, sales are down of the mobile version so they are not making enough money from it, if they hadn't done the netflix deal they might have cancelled the game altogether, at the end of the day it has got to make a profit and it seems like FM23 hasn't, it sad that a lot of people who have bought it for years won't be able to get it this year but it will also be played by a lot of people who are Netflix subscribers who wouldn't buy it otherwise.

This goes one of two ways.

1. The investment from Netflix actually means something and the game sees serious improvements.

2. The game is dead and now seen as an add on in another service instead of its own thing.

Years ago I admit I threw my toys out the pram when FMT was announced, and I received so much backlash yet if nothing else this proves FMT put a ceiling on FMM. FMM has stagnated and became a gateway game for casuals, which adding it to a subscription TV service shows. The game is now just a freebie they hope some people download while watching trash TV, followed by transitioning to its bigger brother or cousin.

The FMT ceiling arguement was so obvious but I got so much shit for it, the second that game existed and especially the second it came to mobile it put a limit on what FMM could be. Why support two games on the same platform which are both positioned as FM lite.

The missus has Netflix, otherwise I wouldn't have access to this as I have no interest in the service. If anything I just wish I cared, yet what saddens me more is how they allowed the game, and especially the community to come to this.

Enjoy the time we have left here lads as I fear the end is near, sure come release they'll blind a few of us with some exciting new league, some meaningless new feature like squad numbers and the hype will take over, but the writing is on the wall I feel.

You know, unless we get a new engine.......Uhahhh even after all this you have that twinge of hope.

The thing is and they must have the data to show it will lead to an increase  but I have had access to games on netflix since they launched and I played two for about 15 mins and deleted them.

I just can't see that big a surge that would make this worthwhile.

Hopefully, I'm wrong and it leads to mass improvement in the game but I have my doubts

People who bought this game last year are the ones who want to play and many of them may continue to buy the game this year. Meanwhile, many people with Netflix accounts may not necessarily be interested in soccer and this game genre. Instead of trying to make a better game and sell it as a stand alone game, SI is now only concerned with profit and doesn't care whether their game is played or not. How is that different from them canceling the game?

If SI really improves the game(which I doubt) then you'll find people pay for Netflix just to play the game. That's the only way, they have to make the game better to justify the subscription. Like I said before, would have made sense if they just did FM touch for Android and you can only access through the Netflix app, would have been better that way.

I guarantee this year sees the least amount of changes/new features. Will be a glorified transfer update with the sky blue changed to orange. One last hurrah for FM Mobile I feel

I really hope major changes come to game to be honest cause FMM23 is the worst one have played since I started playing FMH 14, so I really want something better.

I can imaging this being a blessing in disguise, with the app on Netflix a bigger established userbase can be reached.
The most important thing will be new features/changes, not just a skin change.

Especially now it is important to improve, football has never been this popular in the US/Middle east.
I guess it will be improve or die for FMM this year.

And well I've already an Netflix account so this change is fine for me.

Wait what?

Only just seen this 🤬

Just read the article.

That's me done from here then. Will still come on the site but I'm absolutely not buying a bloody Netflix subscription to get the new game.

Absolutely ridiculous decision to not still make it available for everyone through app stores.

I won't be forced into paying for a service I don't want just to play it.

News going around now is Netflix is hiking prices after the Hollywood actors calls of the strike 💀

Yeah that was announced a bit back.

My Sister has it and was made aware there's price rises coming. Ridiculous really.

We’ve had Netflix for years and I can only remember looking at what was in the games section a couple of times. We got Netflix because it was the first major tv streamer. But we have more and more discussions about binning it because the quality of new content is pretty poor overall. The only thing that saves it is the huge amount of kids shows.

With the other ones we tend to subscribe for a month and catch up on anything new before moving on to the next one. Netflix will go that way for us—especially if the prices go up.

So, I guess FMM23 will stay on my phone. There’s no point me thinking about FMT either as I’m not interested in being locked into the Apple Arcade.
