Chat Does any tactic work for poor teams

I’m starting a youth academy only save with a vanarama north / south team.  The rules are I can only use existing squad and anyone that comes through the academy. Starting with the worst academy and training facilities and improve them as I go.

Is there any plug and play tactic these days that will work even on poor sides ?

Ive tried loads of tactics and nothing seems to work.

Help !!!!

Try this one - 41221 for teams at the bottom of the table in the relegation zone.

Thanks Till will give it a try what is the tactic style called ie Gegenpress, tikitaka etc for when I put the tactic in or do I just use clean slate. ?

Of course you have to start with clean slate, good luck! Hope you let me know how it worked out for you or not.

At the lowest level prioritize physical attributes for training, that'll help a lot if you've got limited talent available - being able to out run and work the opposition helps a lot, especially towards the end of matches.

I was after a tactic that works whatever the team but clearly that doesn’t exist anymore.

It takes time for adaptation and chemistry, until the squad learns the proposed tactics, it can take a long time. Show patience and the result will come.

 Hint: a recent tactic with a detailed description from Dan English.

I have decided to start a game like you, with a team that is a candidate for relegation, in the VNS, with an unknown reputation and with my tactics, here is my first game, without signings, I will only come up from the quarry when it's time, at the end of the season I will update the post to see how it went

When you say ‘nothing works’ - what do you mean? Is that ‘we are in last place for all tactics’ … or ‘we are only mid-table with  the better tactics’ … or … we’re in 1st but not scoring 3-4 games each game’ … ?! 

In general - if your team is a rubbish side / relegation candidate in your division - AND you can’t reinforce it with transfers / loans / frees - then it will be very tough for you.

I think the days of ‘plug and play’ tactics for ANY team dont exist anymore. Some tactics are ‘plug and play’ if you have a good team with an aerial ST, some if have a slow defense, some if you have an overpowered squad. BUT I’ve not seen one that’s ‘plug and play’ which will help ANY squad to hugely overperform.

That one is for ‘good’ to ‘great’ teams. If his team are relegation candidates, and a poor squad, then it may be too attacking for him 🤷
