Send scouts out for age groups of players and they will usually come back with some cheapo gems. South America scouting is an absolute must especially if you manage to get rid of those pesky work permits.

Employ a Bargain Hunter scout, who will actively seek out quality players available for around or below their valuation.

Check out any relegated teams as the seasons pass in case of any relegation clauses.

It is often cheaper to look at players aged 27-32 who can provide quality for your squad than signing talented youngsters for every position. Makes your money stretch further.

As for players with expiring contracts, you can often sign them for lower than their valuation as they get close to expiring, if you don't want to wait it out until the summer for them.

You may add some players you are interested to your shortlist. If you get the news saying he is unhappy in current club, this is your chance to get him cheaper.
