Hello managers, I want to propose Mourinho's tactics from his time at Inter. Why propose it after many edits of Mourinho's tactics? Because basically we've all made mistakes in past releases. We take him defensive, and we have associated a defensive tactic, perhaps because we all remember that Barcelona-Inter which remained in history, played by parking the bus because it lacked a couple of important players and with players line up not in top physical form. In reality, yesterday I saw an old Inter-Milan match and I came to the following conclusions:

1) Great aggression from midfield down.

2) Very fast restarts.

3) Short passes without ever taking risks

4) Quick insertions

5) Close man markings when not in possession of the ball.

The strong point of Mourinho's Inter was Maicon, an extraordinary player who dominated the entire right wing. The game develops mainly on the right with insertions of Eto'o and Maicon. Milito's work in attack is not as a man in the penalty area, but as a complete striker capable of finishing but also making many assists. Sneijder, the attacking midfielder, was actually a deeper midfielder who participated in the game and did not have the role of playing too close to the center forward. The defense was high but the pressing started in the midfield with density behind the ball line. See you soon for tactics.....

Test the tactic without the emotional conditioning of seeing the results I got. You have to smell and feel Mourinho's tactics. A tactic must not be used by seeing the effectiveness of the results obtained, you must see the idea you want to apply and the game model to implement. If I have managed to transfer these concepts of mine and the sensations it gives me, this is very pleasing.

That’s a very unique tactic + write up 👍

I like the right hand side focus - guess the WB is the biggest source of assists, crossing into the ST … is that right?

If so, especially if you have a low-aerial ST, I’d guess that a right-footed ST would be ideal (like Mbappe) as any low crosses / passes from the WB would go onto the ST’s favoured foot. Have you observed anything around this?

Am surprised by the SIX man-marking roles (!) 🙂

Am surprised by the SIX man-marking roles (!) 🙂

Let's start with man marking:

Mourinho's Inter defended with 6 players in a narrow position, attached to their opponent man-to-man, but they did not follow him throughout the pitch but only in their area of competence.

How to reproduce this in the game?

FM has limited player positions on the pitch compared to real football. We will never have a left wing that goes to the right and vice versa. And we will never have an attacking midfielder who goes on the right and left flank like in real football. Therefore in FM man marking will always be applied as a mixed zone.

To play with man marking while maintaining the position of the team compact, it is necessary to activate the DISCIPLINED option and not normal or creative. Once the disciplined option has been activated we can use hard and decisive takles, this is because the players will be close and attached to their opponent and the risk of making a wrong takle will be lower.

As for offensive development, the fullback will be a good assist man. If you have Mpappe, I see him as very similar in characteristics to Milito, you will have a striker who will score many goals but also many assists having the ability to play the ball with quality.

I have activated the "shoot from afar" option because your full-back will also score goals like Maicon. And the two central midfielders will also have the opportunity to score goals like Cambiasso and Tiago Motta in Mourinho's Inter.

Two replays:

1) in the first replay you can see a goal in perfect Inter style by Mourinho. Development of the game on the right with fast and precise passes, and the full-back who comes in and makes an assist for the winger who enters the centre.

2) Goal from a set piece by the full-back. "I set the roles on set pieces to faithfully reproduce Mourinho's Inter."

I remind everyone that a tactic can be further effective or not based on your pre-match dialogues, match interval, end of match and individual dialogues.
