Chat What type of player do you go for? (Personality)

Recommended Posts

Every player is different but interesting to see what ever player goes for when your buying/sorting your team out. Personality can be great or can have that massive effect on the team. So somebody like Cristiano Ronaldo would at some point, have a negative effect on the team, due to him being unprofessional.

Type of players I go for/or build my team around. Professional players (nice easy start, you know what's on the tin with these players) I want them training to the highest level. So with this attitude you know you can train them better, and also use them as a mentor. Calm players, again what you need on the field in different situations. Determined is a another massive one for me. Gives there all. Adaptable, is good wherever he's trained to play.

These are what I always look out for, good for team building and relationships.

Things I won't touch are somewhat unprofessional, and unprofessional. These 2 personalities are just NOT a good fit. Will unbalance your squad and it's not what you need. I don't like lazy players, insecure players, poor judgement. These I won't touch with a bargepole. Oh and relaxed (useless these players) AND definitely not NOT determined as you will have a very poorly individual. And any other negative effort that I've forgotten, I won't have them either so inflexible etc

I'm still 50/50 with mercenary

Would love to hear what you look out for

Interesting topic!

Background - recently I did a +5 season wonderkid + ‘youth academy’ career involving one cheat ⚠️ saving + reloading to get the ‘mentoring result’ which I wanted. It taught me a lot about different personalities + how mentoring impacts them (on FMM23):

Preferred Personalities - in order:

  1. Tier 1 - professional, hardworking, determined are my top 3 - makes team talks much more productive!
  2. Tier 2 - consistent, capable under pressure … are great to have, but can’t always mentor these in after the tier 1 aspects above,
  3. Maybe - if I’m outside the top leagues (e.g. MLS) + want to keep my best players, then loyalty is also tier 2 for me. Otherwise not needed.
  4. Maybe - if I’m a top club in a top league (e.g. EPL), then ambitious is also tier 2 for me. Otherwise not needed.
  5. Maybe - if I’m buying players from abroad, then adaptable is useful / but below tier 2 for me. Otherwise not needed.

Opposite of Tier 1.
unprofessional, lazy, or undetermined

  • If the player is young (<21) + can still develop, then you have TIME to change their personality through mentoring. So I will still bring in - as through mentoring that can be solved!
  • If the player is 24 or older, then they can’t be mentored, so I won’t touch a player with one of these, unless I’m desperate or doing a short term (<1 season) challenge.

Thoughts? 🙂

I like that idea! Makes full sense to be fair, just found another I don't like "Chilled" lmao

But that what you use, would work really well.
