We’ve just finished season 2 - we’ve won the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 VNS + 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 VNL titles in consecutive seasons …

Points
Everything is (kinda) going to plan. We’re on 26 points, needing to hit 100 points to achieve this GOAT challenge.

 
Aim
This GOAT challenge is ridiculously hard.

The first two seasons were doable. Next are 3 seasons to (hopefully) win the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 English League 2, League 1, and Championship … with all 4 narratives on … Not easy. 

… then after all this, if we succeed, we have to win the Premier League and all cups - that’s going to be near impossible.

I got him for sone fun + in the hope he’d have great set piece abilities - but so far he’s been very mediocre 😞 I guess he’ll be loaned out and hope he improves?

Early Season 3

If you try this GOAT challenge yourself, you will be facing these kind of problems … 

   
 

Problem #1 - Big Clubs
This challenge requires you to achieve consecutive promotions by WINNING the league every season. BUT there is a huge risk like this …

… guess who are in league two with us?! 😱

Big boys Wigan had two successive relegations from the Championship …

… but even now, they still have a much better squad, 10x our wage budget, plus made some big purchases this summer.

 
They are strong enough to be ‘invincible’ this season. Somehow we must beat them to the title?! Oh dear.

 

Problem 2 - Time  
Raising cash is fine right now. We made some big player sales once the ‘asset stripper’ narrative stopped late last season.

My chairman / administrator will transfer list players (hurting morale) - then sells them for ‘almost nothing’. Bye bye guys.

What do you do with any remaining cash? I put it into our wage budget, to fund our squad’s +£20k / week wages (+£1m / year!).

One week before our first league game. We’ve finished pre-season. We have a 25-26 man squad.

Well that’s a problem. 8 of my first team out. 16 injuries across my squad

Three players are out for most of the season - many others out just for 1-4 months.

 
Plus - horrifyingly - even ‘loaned out’ players in my first team get injured 😱

 

Next
Well that makes things difficult.

Somehow we still need to win the league.  
We still need to cope with player sales.  
We still need to stay with wage budgets.  
We still need a fit first team.

… and we still need to stop an ‘invincible’ Wigan.

You are referring to the +4 aerial that star young striker Asante received through mentoring from experienced Tom Elliott.

Yea usually I cancel the mentoring as soon as I receive a ‘news item’ of the improvement (a half-round of mentoring). I think for Asante, I left it until the 2nd news item of improvement (2x full-rounds of mentoring). It took just over 1 full season.

Yes cancelling it can hurt their morale. But it’s worth it 🔥 unfortunately most of my mentoring is NOT as successful as this one ☹️

We are 2nd in the league,  
but this has been a difficult half-season …

 
No Scouts?  
My only scout retired suddenly in pre-season, and my Board won’t let me replace him (‘no budget’). So searching for free contract signings has to be done manually without scouts. Sigh.

Good pace in attack, good aerial in defense, but only mediocre stamina - I’m using a high-press so will need to use a lot of subs

One good shooter, a few decent crossers, but mostly good passing / technique across the first team.

Mostly good decisions, movement and teamwork … but very low aggression.

Thank you for responding, I will put it into practice since I always wait for them to finish. By canceling, I understand that in a single season there could be about three tutorials per player. If the first news is that there is no progress, it is also advisable to cancel, right? And one last question, do I put the same tutor again in the case of improvement? Don't give up on the event, if anyone is capable it is you. I send you a lot of strength

Remember big boys Wigan? They were relegated twice and got an early lead through their ‘invincible’ form. 

But where are they now … ?!

As they started the season with this keeper - who had <1.0 goals conceded per game …

… but he was SOLD …

… and Wigan’s backup GKs performed much worse

Three Narratives
As you saw in the gif in the post above - we turned on three narratives on January 1st. 

They were painful, especially the new injury crisis which destroyed our squad.

Thankfully I’d prepared in advance - so in early December I started freeing up the wage budgets - by loaning out + even selling high earning players for free!

Our Squad
So here is our ‘new look’ squad for the 2nd half season - after recalling back some other players from loan, plus a couple of cheap free transfer signings.

Here’s our 1st team - defence a averages only 2.5 stars, while we are very light in central midfield.

Physically - we have decent pace + terrible aerial a except in central defense which is the opposite.

Mentals - our aggression is REALLY LOW, but our movement + positioning is fine. Plus our decisions and teamwork are generally good.

Technicals - we have one good crosser, one good passer + one good shooter …

… our passing + technique suit a short passing game 👍   
 

Our Form
We struggled. Especially when playing 2 league matches each week. But slowly we caught up.

This was unexpected. With a terrible impact. 

Usually the ‘asset stripper’ narrative turns off either (1) once you win the league, or (2) at the end-season …

… but what’s this?!

Yes.  
The ‘asset stripper’ narrative has stayed ON.   
  -  Won the league? Still on.  
  -  End of season? Still on.  
  -  Start of next season? STILL ON.

This is TERRIBLE because it means:

• ❌ can’t SELL any players (and keep the money)
• ❌ no money to BUY players
• ❌ no money to afford higher wages

• ❌ no money for new facilities.

• ❌ no money to hire a scout !!!

 
We have now been in administration for OVER 1 year - and I have no idea when it’ll end …

… this is TERRIBLE news 😢

All 4 narratives expired between August to November, so we had a few months where we can build for the future 🔥

Dec 1st. After losing our opening match, we now dominate the league 🔥

This season genuinely could end my Goat challenge.

Aug 1st. We switched on 2 narratives. ‘Unrest at home’ caused players to hate me.

Backup left-back Manhertz complained publically about me 4 times!

 
Plus the ‘Injury Crisis’ took out half our 1st team squad. Again.

… including a 12 month injury + two 9-10 months injuries.

 
Our administrators made 1 huge player sale - of which I get zero funds, as ‘Asset Stripping’ is still active … why do Man City need my 2nd best attacker ?!

We are already 9 points behind an amazing Leeds team. This season genuinely could end our challenge #DeadGoat?

I desperately need to sort out our leaky defence - but is the problem our tactic or our players?! Argh!

Looks like right back (an IWB) + my right sided midfielder (B2B) are both issues 🤔 

While rated lower by our coaches - my left back (FB) is still developing + performing well - and my star striker is scoring goals.

My 3.5 star* keeper is doing well.

*according to my coach reports, I also think he’s good 👍
