Chat Are some "problem" personality issues a lost cause?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've read through the forums and understand that personality traits in young players can be altered by mentoring, the culture at the club, and passively via motivational coaches.

That said, if all the above is in place, what are your experiences of fixing some of the harder to shift ones? is it possible or is it such low odds (under 25%) that its better off to just sell the player and get someone not quite as gifted but with better mental attributes?

The harder the shift ones I find (once your squad is professional and hard-working dynamic) are:

"Rebelling against the stifling club culture"

"Dislikes the intense work rate that his team-mates expect"

Are these generally lost causes? what stats (visible and hidden) trigger these?

Thanks

Workrate is hidden under the teamwork attribute

Teamwork is split into (unselfishness and workrate)

Rebelling against the club culture is caused by a hidden attributes (professionalism) this can be fixed through mentoring

Click on the player’s personality description (like ‘relaxed’) and you’ll get a pop up with the players personality details

Here is a good one - a strict leader

Most personality problems can be solved via 3-4 rounds of mentoring - as your young player may not ‘fix’ his issue on the 1st go.

(best practice is to cancel the mentoring as soon as you get a news item for that mentoring pair saying there has been sone / any improvement)

The only players to avoid are probably ones with MULTIPLE personality issues - as you’ll struggle to fix 3 or 4 of these issues via mentoring unless they have a lot of potential to grow.

  • Unprofessional
  • Lazy (low work rate)
  • Not determined
  • Inconsistent
  • <Bad?> under pressure

Sone of the other ones are more acceptable:

  • Unambitious
  • Mercenary (low loyalty)
  • Inflexible (low adaptability)
  • Poor decision making (low decisions)
  • Aggressive

Thanks for the reply, yes after double checking I can see the professionalism link. Does the “rebelling against the club culture” mean that the passive improvement in having a professional squad won’t apply to them? That’s how I read it. So you basically have the play the mentoring improvement lottery.

Thanks for the input. Have you ever fixed “rebelling against the club culture” with mentoring? Or even better, just through the passive improvement you get from a professional squad? (I actually think that this message means that they DON’T get the passive improvement, but would love for someone to confirm)

That’s a great question. Don’t know.

Through mentoring: yes. Through passive improvement: don’t know.

Other people here may know better?

You have to sign 2 players with teamwork over 16+ and cancel mentoring every time u recieve massage about partner ship !!! Players with good leadership skill will pass on their personality traits to younger players !! and they will fix ur issue!!! Make sure the players with good personality should be ur club captian and wise captain!!! When they become a member of core group they will influence players passively as well !!!! but for that u have to talk to every players on their performance in every month once !!!
