Chat How to reduce the likelihood of board selling players?

I'm playing as Oldham and have managed to get them promoted twice. The board have recently started selling my players. I read this can happen if you're in a financial crisis. However, our finances are excellent thanks to me reluctantly selling our star goalkeeper to a Premier League side.

I recently got the money maker reputation, which replaced penny pincher.

Fortunately, I was able to reject the most recent offer. But not two earlier ones.

How do I stop or reduce the likelihood of this happening?

I have only experienced this with players on loan with an agreed fee, as a lower leagues manager (Maidstone) I have been able to decline big offers for star players. No help I know but would be interested to hear what others have to say.
