Career Ange’s Postecog-career

After the news of no FM25 or FM24 database update I thought I’d dip my toes back into the murky waters and try a bit of a random challenge. It may or may not go to plan. 

Big Ange. He didn’t have the most traditional route to elite (referring to the Prem rather than Spurs with that word) football. So I thought I’d go on a pilgrimage of sorts and retrace his steps. 

 

We fell at the first hurdle as South Melbourne aren’t in the game so I moved onto the next lowest club along the way. Panachaiki FC in the Greek Super League 2 south. 
The aim is to start here with local reputation with the goal of moving to Australia, before heading to Japan, Scotland and then the Prem. Winning titles or cups along the way of course - we always win trophies. 

You have to pick your formation, which has to be super attacking, and you can’t change it for the whole challenge. Tactical inflexibility is key. That’s who we are, mate. 
 

So here we go.

Season 1

I figured the most fitting formation to use for this was my Angeball tactic from the start of FM24:

 

Season 1 was easy enough. Bought in a load of free transfers and won the league easily enough. 
 

 

Onwards to the Superleague while I wait for an Aussie job to open up.

Season 2

We came third in the superleague qualifying for the Europa Conference.

I picked up this young Greek lad for £20k and he’s coming along alright now.

 

I’m hoping a semi successful run in the Europa Conference will help me get a better reputation as currently I’m not getting any jobs I apply for. Time to move to Aus as soon as I can now.

Season 3

We managed to get some key signings in this season. Archie Gray came in on loan, Pavon (if you’ve followed my previous careers, you know how much I love him) was a steal at £1m and my young striker became a man. 
 

 

All this means we had a great season winning the domestic double and the Europa Conference:

It was one hell of a final scoring in the 1st and 121st minutes, conceding in the 123rd minute and finally winning on penalties. Phew. 


 

Aussie jobs don’t come up often and my reputation was only regional so I didn’t have any luck with the only one i previously applied for but with these trophies I’m now continental. 
And as luck would have it, a job came up. It’s poetic really…

They came bottom of the league and have £50k to spend so this could be a slog but we want a title before we move to Japan next.

Seasons 4 and 5

Our Aussie leg went pretty smoothly. It’s a very poor league and even with only being able to pay £5k wages, you can attract some very good players on free transfer. I had Bruno Guilamaes, Marcos Paulo and Augustin Alvarez. All well below their potential as they’d been hung out to dry by previous clubs but way overpowered for the A League. 

The first season (season 4), we won the league undefeated as that was the only competition we were in. Season 5 we won the league, cup and Asian Champions League.
 

Time to move on…

This feels like it’ll be a lot harder as the league is more competitive and the team isn’t great  so needs a complete rebuild.

Seasons 6 and 7

I forgot to take screenshots at the end of my first season in Japan but after strengthening the squad and bringing in some free signings we won the cup but only came 5th in the league as my defence was pretty poor. 

The next season went much smoother. Raiding the free transfer market again, there were some ridiculous players willing to come to Japan to play for me. I guess the continental reputation makes a big difference. All the players were shadows of their former selves but still far too good for this league (although J League has some good players in it compared to Aus).

This was my team by the end of the season:

Not bad at all. Hopefully FM26 will sort out how many good players get released stupidly by clubs but in the meantime, I’ll be using them!
Unsurprisingly, we cleaned up. 

There are no Scottish jobs even slightly insecure so it’s a waiting game now to see what team comes up next to bring me back to Europe.

Season 8

Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long until the Rangers job became insecure and I declared interest to get the manager fired. 

They’ve got the best squad in the league so this should be easy enough. 

Neat the end of the season I was offered the Spurs job but we hadn’t won the league by this point annoyingly so I had to say no.

 

Anyway, we won the league and the cup but had a rare defeat in the league cup and crashed out of the CL. Either way, we got our trophy and league title. 

 

Now to wait for a Prem job.

Season 9

A good first season. Villa had some solid players and money to spend so not too much of a rebuild was needed. Just improvements. 

With no Europe at least it meant we could focus on the league. And we got very close but it was a crazy end to the season between the top 3 teams.

Let’s see how we get on next year with CL football to contend with too. We always win trophies in our second season

Season 10

We won the league by a good margin but didn’t have much luck in the cups. Still, a good season. 

The team is developing nicely and I’ve no doubt with a couple of signings for depth we could take the CL next season. Unless anything surprising happens…

One final chapter in this challenge: from the Championship to the Champions League.

Season 11

We managed to not lose any key players so promotion from the Championship was easy enough. 

We crashed out the league cup early on losing to Chelsea on penalties but made up for it with the easiest FA cup run known to mankind. Well we did have to take out City in the 5th round (after a reply) but after that it was a very easy run to the final. 

So that gives us Europa league football as well as Premiership football next year. This squad will need some depth!

Season 12

A good first season back in the prem. we managed to come 3rd in the league scoring a lot of goals and won the Europa League which was a bonus. 

We took out my old team Villa to reach the final of the FA cup but this year we didn’t have the luck and lost to Brighton. We crashed out of the League Cup early again which is annoying as we’ve not won that yet.

Season 13

Another good season. We didn’t manage to improve our league position and came 3rd again as we scored a lot fewer goals (although we scored more points) but we did manage to win the Europa League which/SAM cup (whatever that is) and the Champions League (I’ve now won the Conference, Europa and CL which is nice). 

 

We won but it was almost very Spursy.

Not sure why we feel we need another new stadium but from next year we’ll be playing at the Big Ange Arena.
