As a longtime player of FMM, I'm often surprised by the lack of comprehensive guides available for player development.
After countless hours honing my skills and strategies, I decided it was time to share my knowledge.
Welcome to the ultimate guide for developing players in Football Manager Mobile! Whether you’re a veteran manager or just starting out, this guide will help you optimize player training and development.
1. Training Facilities and Coaches
Training Facilities
To ensure your players develop to their full potential, world-class training facilities are essential.
If your club hasn’t maxed out its training facilities yet, go to the board request section and ask for "improve training facilities."
Coaches
Employing a set of gold coaches with natural aptitude is crucial. You also couldn't go wrong with coaches with a higher reputation.
My personal preference is to maintain a balanced portfolio of "Youth, Attacking, Defending, Fitness, and Goalkeeping" coaches.
This combination has yielded excellent results for me, but I encourage you to experiment with different mixes based on your team's unique needs.
2. Regen System
The regen system is my absolute favourite feature of FMM.
Legendary players like Messi and Ronaldo will have regens with the same potential ability as they did in their prime.
Once you master regen tracking, it is really simple to create your own version of superteam!
Tracking Regens
Regens usually appear on July 1st after a player retires on June 30th (but may also pop up randomly between July and August).
Regens share the same nationality, natural position, and weak foot combinations, making them easier to spot.
Generating Better Regens
To find better regens, utilize the “save and reload” method until you find a desirable player.
Focus on younger regens (ages 15-16) and those with superior total attributes.
3. Training and Matches
Understanding player development is key. Monitor the “development center” page where players gain experience through matches.
Players get upgraded attributes when their progress bar fills. Good match performance fills the progress bar more quickly.
In the below example, Haaland and Calleja is one match away from attribute upgrades.
Utilize the "save and reload" method for desirable upgrades (if you are a hardcore gamer that is).
Role-Specific Training
Players can be trained in various roles to enhance specific attributes.
Don't be afraid to train players in different positions and tactical roles along their growth journey.
Let's say you want to develop an all-round midfielder. You can develop him in Central Midfielder role for defensive attributes, then Winger/Central Forward role for attacking attributes.
Key Attributes by Category
Ever wondered how to interpret the below training progress graph? Now you do.
Attacking: Crossing, dribbling, passing, shooting, technicality, movement
Young players can benefit significantly from mentorship, gaining both attribute increases and desirable personalities.
Choosing Mentors
Each player can undergo two rounds of mentoring.
Positive traits can be transferred from the mentor to the player upon the completion of the mentorship.
Select good mentors with nice personalities for your young players, like Kane for attackers and Kimmich for defenders.
Desired Personalities
I always want my players to obtain the “hardworking” personality as it is the only trait that give you bonus attribute increase (teamwork).
My personal second favourite is the “professional” personality, followed by "determined".
Use the "save and reload" method to achieve the desired results. Look for the message “work rate has improved” to confirm a teamwork attribute boost.
5. Position Retrain
Retraining players in different positions not only enhances their versatility but also grants additional attribute increases.
Position-Specific Improvements
From my experience, each new position can provide a maximum of a +2 attribute boost. For instance:
A CF retrain may improve shooting and creativity attributes.
A WF retrain may improve crossing and dribbling attributes.
A CB retrain may improve positioning and tackling attributes.
Train your young players in multiple positions while they are still open to it, as they may refuse position retraining as they age.
You can start with training players in positions where they have at least "reasonable" aptitude, but in fact "poor" aptitude would work fine too.
Final Thoughts
With these strategies, you'll be well on your way to developing your best wonderkids in FM Mobile. Happy training, and may your team achieve great success!
